Rosiley’s smile faltered and surprise flitted across her face when she saw him, but she quickly composed herself and walked past him.
Yunis was clearly taken aback as well, but he looked very upset when Rosiley ignored him. He couldn’t help saying, “Rosiley.”
She completely ignored him and her footsteps didn’t even falter. It was clear that she planned on ignoring him.
Yunis’s eyes darkened. He ran up to her impulsively and stopped her from moving forward as he said, “Let’s have a talk, Rosiley.”
“I’ve nothing to say to you,” she said as she glanced at him coldly. She walked around him and continued to make her way forward.
He said insistently, “I just want a few words with you.”
She looked at him in annoyance and said, “What exactly do you want?”
Yunis’s face hardened but he continued patiently, “I just wanted to say that I had let you down and Rorey might have also crossed the line, but since she’s pregnant, could you please stop bothering her?”
“Me, bothering her?” Rosiley couldn’t help laughing incredulously as though she had just heard a hilarious joke. “Who exactly is bothering whom? Yunis, you didn’t even apologize for your betrayal. Fine, so be it. Then, you had the audacity to join forces with Rorey to shame me publicly at your engagement party. What gives you the right to make such a request of me? Why can’t you say the same words to Rorey and ask her to stop bothering me?”
“I apologized earlier,” Yunis said with a frown. Her high-pitched voice seemed to grate on his nerves.
Rosiley snorted lightly and said, “That was such a great apology! You act as though your apology could make up for everything you’ve done. You’re really something else!”
“There’s no need for you to get so aggressive. Let’s speak calmly,” Yunis said.
Her words made her feel a little uncomfortable, as though needles were pricking at his heart.
This was the woman who used to love him wholeheartedly and who would listen to everything he said. Now, she gave him the cold shoulder and looked at him as though he was a complete stranger.
He felt inexplicably flustered at the thought.
“I have nothing to say to you. Let’s pretend that we’re complete strangers when we meet in the future,” she said.
She didn’t want to waste time speaking to him, so she walked past him and turned to leave.
She had already gotten over him, and now, she just found him extremely abhorrent.
“Rosiley–” Yunis called out from behind her.
She sped up and walked even faster.
A luxurious Maybach suddenly sped toward them and pulled up in front of her.
The driver’s door opened and a tall man stepped out of the car.
The man was dressed in a tailored suit and gave off an important and gentlemanly air. He was also extraordinarily handsome.
He walked right up to Rosiley and smiled charmingly at her.
She looked at him in surprise and said, “What are you doing here?”
Corey smiled brightly at her and said, “I’m here to take you home.”
Rosiley paused for a moment before she arched her brow and said, “Did your brother send you?”
“How clever of you. He said that I had too much time on my hands and apparently, I was getting on his nerves just by hanging around him, so here I am… Hmm?” Corey suddenly noticed Yunis, who stood near Rosiley.
He frowned and looked at her with a strange look in his eyes as he said, “Did I come at a bad time?”
Rosiley smiled and said, “No, you came at the right time!”
“Good to hear. Hop in and I’ll take you back,” Corey said as he relaxed and reverted to his usual gentlemanly self.
He walked to the passenger side and helped her open the door like a perfect gentleman.
Rosiley smiled and nodded at him before she went into the car.
She didn’t even look at Yunis and left without a second glance at him.
Yunis watched helplessly as Rosiley left with another man. He felt a wave of jealousy come over him. He didn’t expect Rosiley to meet another man so soon after they had just broken up.
That man gave off a noble and charming air, and his car was a limited edition model that cost almost 50 million dollars. There was only one of its kind sold domestically, and even he didn’t manage to buy it.
He clenched his fists at the thought of how Rosiley had ignored him while smiling so sweetly at the other man, and he was extremely bewildered.
“Who exactly is that man?”
He knew that the man was no ordinary man.
However, he didn’t look familiar to Yunis at all, who would have recognized him if he was from Benin City.
“How do they know each other?” he wondered.
Then, he suddenly realized that there seemed to be someone helping her behind the scenes when she was caught up in the scandal.
He could tell that Rosiley and that man seemed to be more than just friends, so he guessed that that man had probably helped her out behind the scenes.
Various expressions flitted across his face and he couldn’t help feeling angry at the thought of that possibility. He quickly picked up his phone and dialed his secretary’s number. “Linda, I want you to find out who the owner of license plate number BN6666 is.”
“Sure, boss.”
After he wrapped up the call, he headed into the building with a dark expression to look for Ariella.
