Chapter 1275 The Origin

In Vitre Castle, Leo was enjoying a delicious breakfast at an enormous dining table.
He had initially thought that vampires would serve all sorts of disgusting and terrifying food, but to his surprise, the food was quite normal.
In Leo’s previous impression, vampires seemed to only drink blood. However, watching these vampires elegantly eat breakfast now, Leo felt that they were not much different from ordinary people.
“Honored guest, how is the breakfast?” Duke Deane asked with a smile, wiping the corner of his mouth with a napkin.
Leo took a sip of milk and replied, “It’s very good, thank you for the hospitality.”
As he spoke, Leo used his fork to pick up a sausage. Just as he lifted it, his right hand suddenly trembled, and the sausage fell back onto the plate.
“What’s wrong, Mr. Bloomer?” Tassick, who was attending to him, noticed Leo’s anomaly and asked in a low voice.
The feeling was all too familiar; it was the same sensation he had felt when a foreign energy locked onto him in the hotel room. This time, however, it lasted only a second or two.
Even so, Leo understood that it was likely someone from Ecclesia coming for him.
Leo felt relieved instead. With the protection of the three dukes, those knights would probably suffer again.
Leo put down his fork and pretended to be considerate as he reminded, “Your Graces, it seems that someone from Ecclesia has used a special method to locate me. I think I should leave now to avoid causing you unnecessary trouble.”
Upon hearing this, Duke Joseph’s eyes widened in disdain. “Mr. Bloomer, don’t worry. I don’t believe anyone from Ecclesia would dare cause trouble in Vitre Castle. Even if they come, we’ll make sure they don’t leave!”
Gawain was more cautious. “If Cedric is leading them…”
The hot-tempered Joseph slammed the table. “Perfect, I’ll drain his blood!”
At that moment, the castle’s alarm suddenly sounded. A servant rushed in urgently. “Master, someone has broken into the castle.”
Duke Deane stood up from the dining table with a cold smile on his face. “They came quickly. Whoever dares to trespass in Vitre Castle will learn the true meaning of regret!”
Unlike the irritable Joseph and the arrogant Deane, Gawain’s face was more serious as he reminded, “Deane, it’s daytime.”
Deane turned to look at him. “Gawain, don’t worry. It’s time to teach that arrogant Cedric a lesson.”
“Tassick, give my order: Vitre Castle is to enter full combat mode. Let’s properly entertain our knightly guests!” Deane’s mouth revealed two sharp fangs.
“Yes, Your Grace.” Tassick took the order and grabbed a corner of his cloak. In an instant, he transformed into a three-eyed raven and flew out of the hall.
As a guest, Leo felt a bit excited inside, looking forward to the battle between the vampires and Ecclesia.
As they say, when two parties fight, a third party benefits. No matter who wins, Leo could always choose to escape in the end.
Leo followed the three dukes out of the hall and into the castle courtyard.
A long Jaguar limousine stood out prominently. In front of the car were ten people. The one at the forefront was tall and handsome, dressed in a red robe and cape, looking imposing.
This person was Cedric. Behind him stood nine knights in a row-the entire Royal Faith’s Order of Knights-with Berger and Bill among them.
Berger and Bill had already spotted Leo standing behind the three dukes and clenched their fists in anger.
Duke Deane stepped forward with a smile. “Bishop Cedric, what brings you here?”
Cedric’s face showed no hint of a smile as he looked arrogantly at Duke Deane and said coldly, “Deane, hand over the Atrarian behind you, and we will leave immediately!”
“What if I refuse?” Duke Deane’s smile did not waver.
“He stole a sacred relic from Westminster Abbey. If you don’t hand him over, there will be bloodshed in Vitre Castle today.” Cedric’s tone was thick with threat.
Duke Deane laughed disdainfully. “Just you and nine knights?”
“Deane, don’t forget it’s daytime,” Cedric reminded deliberately.
“Oh really? Then I’ll make it night!” Deane said as he extended his right hand. A black scepter appeared in his grasp.
Deane raised the scepter high and chanted, “Almighty Prince of Darkness, grant your people strength to punish those who dare offend your majesty! Darkness, descend!”
As soon as Deane finished speaking, a black light shot from his scepter into the sky.
In the next moment, the sky began to darken as if countless dark clouds were gathering over the castle. Eventually, day turned into night.
This scene greatly intimidated Cedric and his knights.
They hadn’t expected that vampires could wield such power to darken the sky.
Hearing “Prince of Darkness,” Leo pondered.
Ecclesia’s lord is Jehovah; therefore, the vampires’ lord should be Cain.
In Genesis, there are records about Cain.
It is said that one day Adam lay with his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, “With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man.”
Cain was also known as “the third man in the world.”
Later, Eve gave birth to Cain’s brother Abel. Abel kept flocks while Cain worked the soil.
One day Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock.
The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering but did not look with favor on Cain and his offering.
Cain was very angry and his face was downcast.
Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.”
Cain then killed his brother out of rage. The next day God asked Cain where his brother was; he claimed not to know.
God said angrily, “Liar! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground.”
Cain pleaded for mercy.
God said, “I will not kill you; I know you will be despised by others. So I give you a mark; everyone will torment you but will not kill you so that you will suffer this curse forever!”
In vampire legends hidden for millennia, Cain’s divine punishment was to live eternally by drinking human blood and suffering this curse for eternity.
