In the best private room at Lotus Pavilion, Rosiley ordered a lot of dishes, all of which were crazy-expensive.
The slaughtered Corey was completely unaware and he was still saying cheerfully, “I couldn’t tell from Sister-in-law’s scrawny figure that you had such a good appetite.”
“You’re over-complimenting me. I’m just following what your brother said, go ahead and order, don’t worry about the price. So I’m not going easy on you.”
Rosiley used her chopsticks to pick up a mouthful of vegetables and sent them into her mouth. She chewed slowly while saying so.
“You didn’t realize that these are all my favorite dishes?”
At this moment, Sachin interjected faintly from aside as he passed Rosiley a piece of beef.
Corey froze. He suddenly leaned over and whispered in Sachin’s ear, “Big Brother, are you really falling for Sister-in-law?”
“What do you think?”
Sachin glanced at her calmly. His answer was ambiguous.
Corey did not care and continued to ramble away. “Tsk tsk tsk, I thought that my Big Brother was an abnormal person prepared to be single his whole life. Seems like there’s someone who can pry open your heart made of rock! What a reason to celebrate! Come on, Big Brother, let me toast to you. You’ve made a good choice, you have to treat Sister-in-law well.”
“Of course. Are you waiting for me to give you a chance?”
Sachin glanced at him with a seeming smile.
Corey’s smile became stiff. “Big Brother, you really harp on all the small things. I didn’t know she was my sister-in-law during then. If I had known, I would have definitely walked away and not hit on her.”
Sachin snorted. “Fine, you’re sensible.”
“What are you guys whispering over there?”
Seeing them exchanging whispers in each other’s ears, Rosiley glanced at them.
Corey said sheepishly, “I’m praising my big brother for having such good taste; he married such an excellent wife.”
Rosiley’s brows lifted. She said indifferently, “Your mouth is so sweet, you must’ve tricked many women, right?”
Corey, “…”
He was good-looking, had many talents, was loaded, had great charisma, and his mouth was also so sweet. He stole the hearts of many girls, how could that just be called tricking?
Corey wanted to claim that that was not the case, but he gave up eventually.
“My wife is so smart.” Sachin’s ears were now quiet and a smile formed on his face. He happily helped her to another serving of food.
Corey had to watch the lovey-dovey scene for no reason and he could not help feeling sentimental.
His big brother’s heart had been moved. It was indeed nothing ordinary; he seemed like a changed man. His gentleness and consideration were really shocking.
Even Yarsy Ning did not receive such treatment before!
He could also tell that Rosiley and his big brother did not get together for such a simple reason.
The news about Rosiley was still making the headlines. You could beat Corey to death and he would still not believe that she had married Big Brother because of love.
However, he still had a good impression of Rosiley.
He liked this sister-in-law!
“Bro, you must make Sister-in-law be loyal to you! Otherwise, you can’t live up to your title of ‘The Nation’s Husband’.”
Hearing Corey’s whisper, Sachin knew that he had already seen the problem between them. He smirked and said, “Do I need you to tell me that?”
The three of them talked and laughed throughout the meal, and it took them more than half an hour to finish.
When leaving the restaurant, Rosiley told Sachin, “I won’t go to the office this afternoon.”
“Do you have other plans?”
Sachin looked at her with a puzzled look.
“I’m heading home to work on my draft,” she said with a smile. She felt extremely relieved after the furor about the news circulating online had died down, so she could focus on her work.
…
Sachin nodded and quickly said, “I’ll send you back.”

Meanwhile, at the Ji family home…
After Rosiley released the recording, Quinta immediately summoned Rorey and Xenia.
The atmosphere in the grand and spacious living room was somewhat thick with tension.
Quinta, who was Yunis’s mother, sat on the sofa and glared at Rorey in annoyance as she said angrily, “Look at what a mess you’ve created! Didn’t you think you embarrassed us enough at the engagement party? How could you embarrass us in public as well? Yunis is doing his best to stabilize the firm but you’ve just managed to make things worse for us. Are you trying to ruin the Ji family?”
Quinta usually gave off the impression that she was a refined rich lady, but as the matriarch of the Ji family, she was still a formidable force to be reckoned with when she flew into a rage.
Rorey shrank back in fear and said, “I’m sorry. I didn’t think that things would escalate that way.”
“Why don’t you think before you act? I wouldn’t even let you walk through the door if you weren’t pregnant with Yunis’s child,” Quinta said bluntly and scoffed coldly.
…
Rorey balled her hands into fists. She felt unjustly treated, angry, and resentful.
Nonetheless, she didn’t dare to snap back at her mother-in-law. She could only bow her head and apologize. “I’m sorry for failing to think things through. I wanted to teach Rosiley a lesson when I saw how hard Yunis was working. I failed to realize that Rosiley could be scheming enough to see through my ploy. This was my mistake.”
Quinta scoffed at her excuse and said, “You’re a fool for allowing her to get her hands on the evidence. I can’t believe that both of you can’t even beat a young girl at her game.”
“Please calm down and blame me if you’re looking for someone to blame. After all, Rorey set off with good intentions. All she had wanted was to get back at Rosiley on Yunis’s behalf. She didn’t expect Rosiley to be so difficult to deal with,” Xenia said. She looked a little embarrassed as she shot Quinta an ingratiating smile and tried to make excuses for her daughter’s actions.
…
These two middle-aged women were of a similar age but there was a significant difference in the way they carried themselves. Xenia sounded more deferential when she spoke to Quinta.
Quinta was still very upset but she didn’t put Xenia on the spot. She merely continued glacially, “In any case, I want you to behave yourself in the future. You should be staying at home to rest during your pregnancy. We’ll deal with Rosiley separately after Yunis stabilizes things at the company. Regardless of you being pregnant with his child, I won’t hesitate to call off your marriage to Yunis if you continue stirring up trouble during this time.”
There was a threatening tone in her voice and she was clearly directing those words at Rorey.
Rorey turned pale and she looked very ill at ease.
She knew that Quinta had never been supportive of her marriage to Yunis. She also knew that Quinta preferred Rosiley over her because Rosiley was the legitimate mistress of the family, and thus, a compatible match with Yunis in terms of their family background. As for herself, she was only a daughter from Xenia’s previous marriage, so Quinta had never considered her as a potential daughter-in-law.
…
She would have been kicked out of the Ji family if she wasn’t pregnant with Yunis’s child.
“Did you not hear what I said earlier?” Quinta asked in annoyance and her brows creased into a frown when she saw that Rorey had remained silent.
…
“Don’t worry, I know what I should do,” Rorey said deferentially but she was gritting her teeth in anger inside!
…
She wouldn’t be in this position if it hadn’t been for Rosiley.
She couldn’t let this matter slide!
She vowed to enter the entertainment industry and exact vengeance on Rosiley!
She had to make Rosiley suffer as much as she had, and more, no matter what it took!
