Chapter 51: Why Are You Here?

Bianca hesitated for a moment, biting her lip, but she eventually agreed.
She didn’t sleep well that night, so she felt tired at work the next day.
The receptionist called her around noon as Bianca was getting ready to leave work.
“Bianca, you have two visitors who say they’re your parents.”
Bianca frowned, confused. What did they want now?
Remembering the day her dad chose Stacey over her, Bianca still felt angry.
“Tell them I only have my mom, and she’s overseas. Please ask them to leave.”
Bianca hung up and went back to work, but just two minutes later, her phone rang again.
“Bianca, they say they won’t leave until you come out to see them.”
Bianca clenched her fists.
She grabbed a glass of water and drank it quickly. After calming herself down, she went downstairs.
As soon as she got off the elevator, Bianca saw Peter and Stacey looking around near the reception desk.
“Why are you here?” Bianca asked, keeping her face serious.
“Bianca, your dad and I heard you work here, so we wanted to visit you,” Stacey said, moving closer and taking Bianca’s arm. She asked with fake concern, “Are you busy? Don’t work too hard. Take care of yourself.”
To everyone else, Stacey seemed like a caring mother who loved her daughter.
But Bianca knew better.
She pulled her arm away from Stacey and said impatiently, “Just get to the point. What do you want?”
“Bianca, Stacey is worried about you, but why the attitude? You’re not even being polite. What’s making you act like this?” Peter said, getting agitated by Bianca’s rudeness towards Stacey.
“It’s okay, Peter. Bianca has some misunderstandings about me. I get it,” Stacey said, pulling on Peter’s arm. She thought for a moment and said, “What’s important now is stopping her from making more mistakes.”
Stacey signaled to Peter to get to the point.
Peter agreed with Stacey. He wasn’t sure how Bianca might use the money, so it might be best for him to help protect it for now.
He held back his frustration and looked at Bianca, asking, “I heard you paid the guy at your engagement party. You’re not actually thinking of marrying him, are you?”
Bianca looked serious. Since her dad already knew, there was no reason to hide it anymore.
Moreover, she had made it clear to Dave. It was time to be honest with her dad.
“You’re right.”
When Bianca admitted the truth, any hope left of Peter had disappeared. He felt deeply disappointed in his daughter.
“Your mom wanted you to use that money to start a family. She told me to keep it until you were engaged. I can’t believe you lied to me just for the money. Since this wasn’t a real engagement, I’ll keep the money for you for now. I’ll give it to you when you’re really engaged in the future.”
It was clear that their visit was about money.
When Bianca saw Stacey’s sly smile, she had a feeling this woman had planned all the schemes.
From the beginning, Stacey and Haris had worked together to deceive her. Their greed went beyond the Scott family’s wealth and to the money left by her mother.
Bianca now knew their true intentions.
She couldn’t imagine giving up her mother’s inheritance!
“The money was left to me by my mom. How dare you even ask for it?” Bianca snapped.
“Everything I did, I did for your own good!” Peter scolded her. “You just started working and haven’t gotten married yet. You don’t need all that money. I’m keeping it safe for you so you don’t waste it.”
Bianca had enough of them. “I’m not giving you the money. You can go now. I have work to do, and I don’t want to argue.”
As she turned to leave, Peter’s anger boiled over. He ignored the people watching them and shouted, “Bianca Scott! I know about your secrets. You’re using your mom’s money to support a man! How can you be so shameless? You’ve embarrassed me!”
It was noon, and people started leaving work. When they heard the argument, some stopped to watch.
Bianca thought Peter wouldn’t listen. She turned and looked at him coldly.
“It’s my money. How I choose to spend it is none of your business! I can spend it all I want!”
Peter was furious. “Why wouldn’t it wasn’t my business? That money is a part of the Scott family!”
“Why is it then?” Bianca asked in a cold tone.
“Because I’m your dad, and I raised you!”
Bianca curled her lip in a sneer. “Since you kicked me out, I don’t have a father.”
Peter slapped Bianca hard, making her head turn from the force. Everything went dark for a moment.
Bianca couldn’t remember when she started feeling disappointed.
She turned and looked at the man she used to call her dad.
Her eyes showed no anger, only sadness.
Tears welled up as she clenched her fists tightly.
Whenever she felt like breaking down, she would try to hold herself back in this manner.
“If you want the money, have your lawyer talk to me. Let’s see if you have any legal right to it.”
“You! You ungrateful brat!” Peter was so angry he almost fell.
Stacey rushed to help him.
Stacey looked at the people watching and got an idea. She sat on the floor, slapped her hands on her thighs, and started crying loudly, trying to get sympathy.
“Bianca, even though I’m not your real mom, I’ve always loved you like my own! Your real mom is rich, but she left you. Your dad raised you! Now that our family’s in financial trouble, you’re worried about being affected. So, you’re leaving to be with your mom. We understand, and we won’t stop you. But you shouldn’t have used that money to support a man! Don’t you see our family business is struggling? Without that money, we’ll go bankrupt. Your dad’s not well. How do you think he’ll handle this? Is this how you thank him for everything he’s done?”
Stacey’s words made everyone see Bianca as selfish and ungrateful.
Rumors started spreading in the company, and her coworkers were already judging her.
“Isn’t she the executive agent who got promoted so quickly?”
“She didn’t just secure that position through connections; she also used her family’s money to support a man. How shameful!”
“Her parents must be so unlucky to have a daughter like her!”
Bianca felt furious as she stared at Stacey. Her situation at work was already tough, and Stacey’s public attack on her reputation was only making things worse.
She took a deep breath to calm herself.
