“Anna, tell me how many of these there are,” Lyka said. She showed me her outstretched right hand by raising it. I approached her with a grin on my face.
“Ping!” I exclaimed, smiling as I took her offered hand in mine. I compare the size of my hand to hers. Wow! Her hands are significantly larger than mine!
“No,” she answered, frowning, “I meant count how many fingers I will reveal.”
It appears that she will become irritated with me over time. My head bowed like a wilted vegetable as I nodded at her. My neck does not seem to be strong enough to support my head.
“How many fingers do you see on my hand?” she said, as I raised my head to look at her.
I squint my eyes to make sure her fingers are straight. When I realized Lyka”s fingers were six in one hand, I grimaced, but when I closed my eyes to clear my vision, I saw four of them. I grin. Lyka”s fingertips almost had me tricked. Tss.
“I am quite sure you have four raised fingers! 1, 2, 3, and 4! Yay!” I said as I clapped my palm.
Lyka most likely assumed I could not count. Tss, I learned to count when I was two years old.
“No, you are wrong; this woman is completely inebriated,” she said, shaking her head in my direction. She shifted her gaze to Aiden, who was now staring directly at me.
I suddenly remembered the weeds I had removed. Do not tell me he is still moping about because his grass died. I sulked.
“What would I do? I am tired,” I murmured gently to myself. To combat the tiredness, I even blink my eyes, but my eyelids are getting heavier, and I will be able to fall asleep in a matter of seconds. I covered my eyes with my palm and used that to keep them from closing.
Lyka scowled as she said, “What are you doing?” Why are they both looking at me with frowns on their faces? If they keep frowning, they will grow old rapidly.
To make life attractive and colorful, you must always smile!
“Ah, this? I am using my hands to keep my eyes from closing; see? I cannot close my eyes with my hands, therefore they are not closing.” I smiled sweetly at Lyka after I said that. She let out a long sigh. Her reaction made me laugh.
“Why did you drink the entire bottle of wine, Anna? You are not used to drinking wine, so why do you still drink?” Aiden asked, shaking his head. I just made a sneering gesture in his direction.
“You crazy woman, how are you going to get home if you are so drunk?” Lyka remarked, staring at me.
Tsk, I am not sure what she is thinking. Of course, I will walk or take a cab home. How does she think I will get home if I am crawling?
Lyka pulled out her phone and frowned, as if she was phoning someone. When the caller did not pick up, she sighed deeply. I noticed her continue to type on her phone. Probably because the person she was phoning was not answering, she opted to text that person instead of calling.
“Ahh, you are shooting pictures again? Take a picture of me,” I said with a cheeky look, and she complied. She gave me a sidelong glance before directing her cell phone”s camera towards me.
I gave a big grin at what she did.
“I am really going to take pictures of you so you can see what you are doing today tomorrow,” she said with an evil grin. “On second thought, I guess it is better if it is a video because you might say again that I will only show edited pictures. Tss, you crazy woman.” What she did made me shudder. I was taken aback by her astonishment.
“Do not make that face, you seem incredibly horrible when you do that, like a serial murderer about to torment your victim,” I cringed at her. I moved only a fraction of an inch away from her.
Aiden, who was just staring at us with his head bowed, approached me. I was about to sink into the grass because I was dizzy, but Aiden immediately grabbed my arm and pulled me away from the ground.
As he helped me sit up straight, he frowned. Because I just bowed my head, it didn”t turn out the way he wanted. I grimaced at Aiden”s actions. He made me sit up straight, which made me even more dizzy.
I pouted at him and muttered, “You are making me dizzy.” When I saw that my eyesight was blurring and that my surroundings were moving around me, I opened my eyes briefly before closing them again.
I grabbed Aiden”s arm and squeezed it tight. What I did astounded him. I took advantage of the situation by leaning my head against his arm. When I felt his warm body next me, I grinned.
“Boo! It is against the rules to have a relationship here! Tsk, please feel sorry for the person who does not have someone to hug right now,” Lyka screamed loudly to us, her cellphone still pointed at me. I just laughed and closed my eyes after ignoring her.
“Hey, Aiden,” Lyka inquired, “do you have a single guy friend?” Aiden did not respond, and I did not hear him. As I clung to his arm, he was completely silent.
“Bring your single male friend to our next drink party so I can embrace someone while I am intoxicated,” Lyka continued. Aiden exhaled and looked at her.
“As if I will let you two drink. There will not be another time. If I have to tie you up so you cannot drink alcohol, I will do it.” Aiden”s response to Lyka was still frozen. Lyka”s booming chuckle reverberated around the dimly lit room.
“Sshh! Lower your voice, Lyka. You might wake up the sleeping plants. Tsk, you are so insensitive, Lyka,” I muttered, shoving my finger into my mouth to keep Lyka from laughing out loud.
She did not stop laughing when I told her to, but she laughed even more.
I gave her a frown. Lyka is a tenacious individual. Tsk.
“What the heck, Annalise Fay Amana. I still thought you are worried about Aiden”s neighbors, even though they do not have a close neighbor, turns out it is because you are worried about the plants. You are extremely intoxicated, girl. You are doomed at Uncle Sandro later when you return home.” Because of what she said, I made a funny face. As I stared at her, I even shook my head.
“I guess you are the one who is drunk, Lyka,” I said, sticking my tongue at her. “Tsk, you are even telling me that I am drunk when the truth is that you are the one who is drunk.”
Her cheeks flushed as a result of what I said.
“Tsk, you are intoxicated, Anna; what were you thinking when you drank nearly half a bottle of wine?” she asks, her brows pinched in my direction.
“I am the one who wants to drink, right?” she asked, shaking her head at me. “You even objected earlier because you claimed Uncle may chastise us if we drank too much, but look at you now.” I did not say anything in response to what she said. If I had to respond to her pestering, I am sure she would say a lot more. It would be better if I just stayed silent so she would not have to lecture me any further.
Aiden said quietly to me, “Hey, Anna, I am not a pillow.”
Lyka, on the other hand, kept talking. She didn”t appear to realize we weren”t paying attention to her rants. I tightened my grip on Aiden”s arm instead of letting go.
“Do not be a jerk, A. Lend me your arm. I will return it; I would not steal your arm,” I added softly.
I was completely unaware that I had dozed off. I only get a few hours of sleep a night and am still aware of what is going on around me.
I could hear Lyka”s voice talking on the phone even when I was sleeping. Lyka grabbed my phone out of my pocket and answered the call for me after I heard it ring earlier.
When Lyka answered the phone, she appeared surprised and stunned, according to what I heard. She was unable to speak right away.
When I felt something pierce my cheek, I laughed. I was tickled to death and could not stop laughing while sleeping. Close to my body, I embraced the pillow I was clutching.
I smelled it, but it did not smell like my pillow, so my brow creased. However, the scent of the pillow I am currently embracing is one I am familiar with. It smells great, sweet, but there is also a hint of potato in the pillow I”m holding.
What I smelled made my mouth water. Why do the chips I just ate smell exactly like the pillow I am hugging? What I smelled made my mouth water. Why do the chips I just ate smell the same as this pillow?
“What did he say?” Aiden inquired. In my ears, their voice sounded like a lullaby that had been blown away. Maybe that is how I hear since I am so tired.
I heard Aiden”s voice again, asking, “Who called her?” Perhaps he was conversing with Lyka, but she did not respond to his questions.
She shouted at him, “Can you keep quiet Aiden?” When I heard Lyka”s bold voice lecturing Aiden, I grinned.
“I am talking to him, okay?” she said softly again.
She did not appear to want the person on the other end of the phone to hear her conversation with Aiden.
I overheard Lyka say, “Yes, we are here at Aiden”s House,” as she seemed to lower her voice to sound more feminine. When I heard her change the tone of her voice and make it smaller, my brow collided.
Even in my dreams, I was troubled by Lyka. When she is around, I cannot live a tranquil existence; she follows me even when I am sleeping. I gripped the pillow even tighter, praying Lyka”s voice would let go of me.
She went on to say, “I will just send you the address.” After that, there was a long and deep sigh.
Aiden checked on her again, “What did he say?” Until now, I had no idea Aiden was also a gossiper. Not only because of whawil would learned about Aiden, but also because of the exquisite scent of my pillow, I grinned once more. It smells like sweet and spicy fried potato, I promise.
I became hungry as a result of what I smelled, but because I was drowsy, I just ignored my grumbling stomach.
Soon after, I heard a car honk outside Aiden”s front gate. Following that, I heard a loud crash. Lyka then screamed, screaming that her hip hurt.
“What the hell, Aiden?! I am not aware that you are easily startled! I nearly broke my hip bone because you of you pushed at me! Maybe you forgot I am a woman and not a punching bag. I will kick what is between your legs, jerk!” Lyka yelled angrily. I winced as I imagined her kicking the objects between his legs. That must have been excruciating, and it will be amusing to see A scream.
“You will have to bear the pain of your hip later, Lyka,” Aiden said irritably. “Let us get this drunk woman out of here first because that wife”s husband might set us on fire,” he added. He is probably shaking his head when he says it.
What is the name of the wife they are referring to? So, who is this drunk they are talking about? Tsk, then, that person is a jerk. Despite the fact that she is married, she has the audacity to go drunk. Tsk. I am sure her hubby is furious right now. In the right mind, which individual, a married person, a wife to be precise, will be a drunkard? Tsk.
If I were the woman”s husband, I would be furious with her as well.
I overheard Lyka remark, “You are the one who will talk to him. That person is scary and intimidating, and I do not want my body to freeze beneath his frigid gaze.” Is this really true? Her voice has a tinge of uneasiness to it.
Who could it be that made a Lyka feel uneasy? That has piqued my interest.
Aiden questioned him, “What will I say to him when he wonders why his fiancee is drunk?”
Lyka let out a long sigh. Her footsteps were getting closer to me.
“Hey, Anna, have mercy on us, get up there,” she said. “I am afraid we are going to meet your husband”s wrath in this situation.” I felt her lightly shake me as well, but I was too tired to wake up. I cannot open my eyes because I am too tired, but I heard what they said.
I merely grimaced and pretended not to see Lyka waking me up. Before I awoke, she simply sighed. She seemed to know she would not be able to win me over, especially as I was still drowsy.
After a few minutes, I heard Lyka say, “Let us allow Alessandre in first; it is up to him to wake up his inebriated fiancee.”
I eventually heard their footsteps receding from me. Good. I was able to sleep comfortably without any noise around me since I was able to rest so easily.
As I hugged the cushion, I grinned. I am enamored with this peace. A place where Lyka is not present and Aiden is not squabbling with her.
I believed I would be able to sleep soundly, but I was mistaken. When a gust of cold air blew, I shuddered. Because of the supposedly frigid air that flowed through my body, my body hair increased.
“What do you think you are doing?” said the same chilly voice I heard as the cold wind blew again.
Aiden”s voice was not the same as his. In comparison to Aiden”s voice, which is humorous and energetic, this man”s voice is manlier and far too chilly.
Despite my surprise at the speaker, who appeared to be a newcomer, I said nothing and went back to sleep. I am so tired that I cannot be bothered by anything.
I am not sure who he is speaking with. Perhaps the plants are what he”s referring to.
Because I am sleeping, he cannot communicate with me. He cannot talk to the sleeper because it is too late. If he spoke to a sleeping person, he would appear insane.
“I am warning you, Annalise,” he said threateningly. “Get up there.”
Oh, my goodness! His tone sounded ominous. The plant he was conversing with had to be trembling with fright.
Tsk, poor plants, they appear to have been chastised. The irony is that he refers to the plants by the same name as I do. Annalise is also my name.
The only difference is that my entire name is Annalise Fay, whereas he only refers to the plat he is discussing as Annalise.
Lyka shook me hard and shouted, “Friend, wake up. It appears that your fiance is quite upset.” I opened my eyes and looked at her, annoyed.
“You are a bother, Lyka. Can”t you see I am sleeping?” I hiss at her before resuming my sleep. I am still clinging to the cushion.
“Get up there, Anna. You are sleeping on the freezing ground, girl, and why are you embracing that bag of potato chips?” she shrieked at me, not stopping to shake my hand. My dizziness was doubled as a result of what she did. She is unforgiving. Wow!
I glared at him and said, “Ahhh! Really, Lyka! What is it this time?”
Lyka”s expression had nearly completely faded in response to what I had spoken. She motioned me to turn around and look behind her. I frowned at the person she was talking about.
My brows drew together, but I could not see who the man standing not far away was. I tried squinting my eyes to see him better, but it did not help.
I slowly got to my feet. Lyka assisted me in standing on my back because I was swaying and on the verge of falling. I zigzagged my way closer to him.
I was barely a few meters away from him when I unintentionally trod on my shoelaces.
At the same moment that I tumbled around, I rotated. I was firmly imprisoned and sank into the solid wall.
I raised my eyes to see which side of the wall I had struck, remembering that we were in the midst of Aiden”s garden and that the wall should be far away. His frown was the first thing I saw. My eyes shifted to his razor-sharp nose and scarlet lips.
I blink numerous times, but I have no recollection of seeing him. His look and smell are both recognizable, but I am not sure where I last saw him.
“Who are you?” I said, my brow furrowing.
My brows meet, and the look of bewilderment on my face is palpable. I put my hand on his face and stroked it vigorously. As his face came into contact with the light, I was able to get a clearer view of his features. My gaze was drawn to his bright red lips.
I guffawed, “Aww, they look like strawberries! And I love strawberries!” I could see how his brow furrowed in response to what I said, but I did not let go of my grip on his face.
