***THREE DAYS LATER***
Maggie woke up with a grueling headache. The pain in her head and neck would not stop. She doesn’t remember much of what happened, but she does remember being beating up badly, she remembered begging for her life to be spared, and then she thought that her pleas where rejected, she’d thought she was a goner. She did not expect to be alive; she did not expect to wake up, especially in this strange room.
The room might have been strange to her, but she would recognize a fancy packhouse whenever she saw one, even from the inside. Did the queen decide to spare her and save her life? Cover her wounds? Give her treatment? Why all of a sudden did she change her mind? This confused Maggie so much.
Only… It wasn’t the queen that brought her here! Maggie realized this after looking out through the window of the room. This in no way was the Turnal terrain. This place was not familiar to her at all. Where was she then? And why was she brought here?
Emily!
Maggie’s heart jumped. She knew she was missing something important. Emily isn’t here of course. Her daughter wasn’t brought with her to the neutral grounds where she was supposed to be killed. Emily is safe, but Maggie doesn’t know for how long that will be. Once her killer finds out that she made it out alive, they will come after her daughter, and then Emily will no longer be safe.
Maggie went to open the door, but found out it was locked from outside. Was this some sort of prison? She began to yell from where she was inside, banging the door as she did.
“Hello!!! Can anybody hear me out there? I need to get out of here, please!!! I don’t know where I am! Is someone out there? Please, I need to get out of here!” Maggie yelled.
Her noises brought some efforts, as soon after, the door opened and an old man walked inside holding a bag.
“Who are you? And where am I?” Maggie asked him immediately.
“Calm down dear. I’m sorry that I had to lock the door, I didn’t want you waking up and running off to somewhere you didn’t know.”
“Who are you? And why am I here?” She repeated sternly.
The man didn’t answer, only took his bag to pass her by before placing it on her bed.
“Please, can you come and sit down? You will get the answers you need, but for now, you’re getting yourself worked up that way, and it’s not good for your health.”
“I don’t care about my health! I only care about my daughter. I am far away from her now and she needs me,” Maggie brought her voice down in tears as she spoke.
The man then looked at her with sympathy before responding, “I understand. I too have children of my own and I understand what you might be going through as a mother, but if you want your daughter to see you again, then I suggest you calm down and receive your treatment so you’ll be strong again. You said so yourself that she needs you. Don’t deprive her of that chance.”
Maggie was brought down with his soft words. She decided to listen to what he said and wiped her eyes before sitting on the bed in front of him. Then he got to work, he examined her wounds before applying ointment, and then he changed her bandages. Soon after, he was all done.
“Your wounds healed fast, dear. I’m surprised that you didn’t remain unconscious for long. Cases like this would take at least a week before you are even able to move.”
“Maybe it was the desire to see my daughter again that made me heal so quickly. Maybe it’s the drive I have to want to see her again.”
He chuckled, “maybe.”
“So now that you’re done. Do you mind answering my questions? I’m really uncomfortable not knowing where I am in this strange place and all.”
“Of course, dear, but first please tell me your name.”
“My name is Maggie. Omega Maggie. I’m from a different terrain from this one.”
“What terrain?
“The Turnal pack.”
“Well, Maggie. It’s nice to meet you. I am Suni, the night shadow healer.”
“Night shadow?” Maggie shook her head wide-eyed. “No… wait, you mean…?”
He finished for her “yes, dear Maggie. You’re far from home. You are in the night shadow packhouse.”
“I don’t understand. How did I end up here? The last I remembered; I was on neutral ground about to be killed by some hired men. How then did I end up here?”
“Calm down, Maggie. I am getting to that. You were brought here by our alpha.”
“Your alpha brought me here…?? I’m sorry, but this is getting more and more confusing for me…”
“What part of my statement did you not understand?”
“Your alpha brought me here? The night shadow alpha saved my life? Why? Why would he save the life of an omega he doesn’t even know?”
“Alpha Walden might be a lot of things, but heartless isn’t one of them. It did not require for him to know you before he did the right thing by rescuing you from those goons bringing you here for safety and treatment.”
“Thank you, Suni, but honestly, I still don’t understand a lot of things. I am still confused even while talking to you, but I think I’ve been able to get some clarity on what happened. I don’t have time to just sit here, I have to save my daughter. Please give me the permission to speak with your alpha right away.”
“There’s no need for me to do that, as alpha Walden ensured me that he’ll come here as soon as you woke up. He wants to see how you are doing.”
“I want to see him too. Maybe he can help me get my daughter back.”
“That will be for you both to discuss and for him to decide. I am done with you now, let me go and send one of the servants to inform him of your waking up.”
“Thank you.”
