“Walden!! Walden!!!! Please… open up the door!!!”
No response. Sandy knew her brother well, and it’s not because he didn’t hear her knocking, but because he hated to be disturbed so early in the morning. What could she do? She didn’t have a choice but to keep trying.
“Walden, please. Open this door. It’s an urgent matter…” but wait, Sandy then thought of the next thing to say to get his attention. “Walden… you have to let me in. Miranda’s life is in danger!!!”
Following her statement, she began to hear the sound of footsteps coming from inside. Then the door opened.
“This better be good, Sandy.”
Sighs, “thank you for opening the door. You don’t know how fast I had to run back here just to tell you this…”
“Tell me what?”
“Samara is a snake, Walden. She is not only evil, but she’s also an accomplice to King Rakur.”
He stared at her as if she’d hit her head on a wall or something… what sort of crazy talk was this so early in the morning?
Walden. I know it sounds hard to believe, but I wouldn’t be telling you this if I didn’t see it with my own eyes. Samara is a traitor, and if we do not stop her now, we’ll have ourselves to blame when she overthrows us.
“What was it you saw with your eyes that’s making you say all this, Sandy? Huh? You know… you can’t just go around accusing people without having any proof. How confident are you in your words that she is a traitor as you say?”
“I saw her, Walden! I saw her with my own eyes last night!!! She is a Damian… she’s hidden so many things from you, and she’s killed a lot of people for those secrets to stay hidden… She’s the one who threatened Conor to lie to you about…”
Walden rolled his eyes, “of course… I should have known that this was all because of your dead boyfriend. Sandy… please I have a lot of court matters to tend to, and I need my sleep.”
“Are you even listening to me at all, Walden? This has nothing to do with Conor! King Rakur has nearly finished the silver pack! He has sent their army far from them, not only that, he’s weakened their barrier by using a sly cub to steal the royalty stone.”
“Sandy… now I know that there is really something wrong with you… where did you get all this from? And what evidence do you have that all of this really happened?”
“I may not have the evidence now, but by the end of today, you’ll get the proof you want when you hear of the silver pack losing their territory to the rogues, you’ll hear that alpha Damian’s life has been taken, and so has the life of your precious Miranda.”
“Leave Miranda out of your foolishness, Sandy!” Walden warned.
“So, you want to tell me? Or you want to lie to me that you have never suspected something different in Samara? You want to lie to me that you have never noticed her strange behaviors? Oh, come on, brother! Even I haven’t known all this since, but even from the distance I kept, I still noticed. Not to talk more of you, Walden!”
“I did. I did notice Samara, but that is not enough proof to point accusing fingers at her! Gosh Sandy, do you even know what you’re saying? Do you know the meaning of the word, treason? Do you know that Samara could be executed if we are not careful with our claims?”
“That’s the exact same thing that happened to Conor, and even he was innocent. Samara is not.”
“That’s enough! I will not let you bring your griefs here for me to chew on. Samara will not be accused of something she didn’t do.”
“Something she didn’t do, huh? So, if I asked you to call Samara into this room, at this very moment. Do you think she will answer, or even be around to answer?”
“What are you talking about?”
“Samara is not within this terrain as we speak, Walden! She’s planning with Rakur on how they will attack the defenseless silver pack. If you think I’m lying, you can send for her right now.”
“Guards!”
“Call Samara for me.”
“Yes, sire, right away.”
Sandy gave a small smirk in his direction, waiting to prove him wrong, but then her face went dry the moment the guards returned with Samara. She was still in her night robe, and her eyes appeared to be tired, she’d probably just woken up.
Yawns, “Good morning, Walden,” she greeted innocently. “I heard you sent for me immediately. Is there something wrong? Why so early?”
Walden passed an angry glare to his sister, “you were saying?”
Sandy didn’t understand… Samara was with the rogue king just now… unless… she must have noticed her eavesdropping and come right back to cover her tracks. Smart move of Samara, Sandy has now been discovered, but now more than ever, she won’t be giving up.
“She must have found out that I eavesdropped on her conversation with Rakur… she knew I’d be running here to come and tell you everything, that’s why she…”
“Shut up your mouth, Sandy! For goodness’s sake, why do you always find pleasure in embarrassing me? Why can’t you just for once, keep your damn conclusions to yourself?” He pushed his sister out of the way before turning to Samara.
“I’m sorry dear,” he said. “You can go back to sleep now. Please forgive my stupid sister.”
“Walden, are you sure that everything is alright? You look like there’s a problem going on… you know, you can tell me anything…”
“Everything is fine, Samara. Sandy is just going through some mental issues… I think it’s all because of Conor.”
Samara turned her face to Sandy, giving her a sympathetic look. “Up till now? It’s been so long since Conor died… why does his death still bother you so much?”
“You are evil. You are wicked, Samara, and you already have Conor’s blood on your hands…”
Sandy’s words cut off as her face met with an unexpected slap from Walden’s hand. She pressed her hand against her burning cheek then, unable to make sense of what just happened.
“Walden… you just slapped me… because of her…! Because of Samara!!!”
“And I will do it again if you don’t shut that mouth of yours!”
