Samara didn’t hide her rage. No, of course she didn’t.
“What??? Why would you ask me to do such a thing, sire? How can you ask me to send a hundred of my wolves, not just a hundred, but the strongest of them? Do you even have an idea of what that would do to my forces?”
“I do, Samara, but from my observations lately, those “forces” of yours have turned out to be nothing better than puppets and bodyguards. You have not engaged them in any battles apart from your personal errands, and besides, you have the protection of the other night shadow guards. Miranda needs those men more than you do.”
“She has the support of her husband now, Walden!!!! There’s nothing you could possibly offer her that would make her come back to you!”
“Watch your tongue, Samara. Just now you were encouraging me about not giving up on Miranda. Why the sudden change of mind when it involves your men?”
“Because I don’t think it will change anything! It will only weaken our forces as to the oncoming wars.”
“The wars haven’t yet come, Samara, and when they do, we’ll be ready for it. For now, just do ask I and do not question my decisions. Send the wolves marching to the Lotus territory immediately you get home. Do as you’re told and don’t think you have any power to change my mind.”
Samara’s rage multiplied as Walden shifted to his wolf form, headed back towards the night shadow territory. Her head felt like a steaming kettle on a hot stove.
He refuses to help her, he refuses to give her more men, and now… because of Miranda… he’s making bad decisions that would affect her plans greatly.
Enough is enough! Miranda has to go. Samara decided she couldn’t wait any longer to take her next step of action.

Katrina has been feeling strange the whole day. She doesn’t know why; maybe it’s the nervousness from meeting Damian after her outburst. It happened months ago, and she hasn’t seen him since that time. Believe her when she says she’s no longer feeling the hurt from that time but why did she start feeling this way after Renard informed her of Damian’s intended visit?
She heard a Knock-knock on her door then. It’s time. Here goes nothing…
“Come in…”
She saw Damian walk in then, but he didn’t come alone; he came with his mate, Miranda.
But why is she feeling different from what she expected. She still had this anxious feeling in her, but why did she no longer feel anger or resentment towards any of them? Was it because of her newly found love?
“Hello, Katrina.” Miranda smiled at her friendly.
“Hi, Miranda.”
“We’re sorry,” Damian said. “We should have come to see you since, but we’ve been so occupied. A lot has happened the past few months, Katrina.”
“I know… I’ve been hearing of everything.” She then turned to Miranda… “I’m sorry about the loss of your father, Miranda.”
Miranda was surprised. Was it Katrina that was not staring at her spitefully nor throwing bad words at her? So much had changed about her since they last saw. What had this person done with the real Katrina?
“Thank you, Katrina. I’m sorry that we couldn’t come to see you, we’ve been getting reports and I personally have been interested in your well-being. Hope you are fine now.”
She was far from fine, and it had nothing to do with her emotions. The anxiety Katrina felt slowly began to turn to dizziness. Why was she feeling this way? She started to feel herself black out…
“Katrina….!!! Katrina!!!!”
She could only hear words echoing as she dropped to the ground.
“Katrina!!!”
“Guards!!!”
“Quick, send for the healer, place her on the bed!!!”
“Katrina! Is she breathing?!!”
She felt big hands lift her up from the ground and place her on the soft comforts of her bed, the last words she heard were Miranda calling out her name concerningly before she finally closed her eyes.

“Katrina is pregnant, sire.”
Damian shook his head, finding it hard to believe the words as they came from Simba’s mouth.
“What do you mean she’s pregnant? How did this happen?!”
“Well, sire, when a man and woman…”
He cut off his words, “I know how it happens, Simba. What I mean is, with whom? And when? Pregnant all of a sudden…. Surely it can’t have been me.”
“I don’t know sire, but I’m more than certain that your former mistress is pregnant. Maybe she will tell you herself who it is when she wakes up, but for now, she needs enough rest for her condition. I will come to check up on her later in the day.”
“Thank you, Simba.”
Simba bowed, “my pleasure, sire.”
The healer then left the room, leaving Damian to stare at a sleeping Katrina who dozed lightly on her bed.
Of course, no wonder Katrina didn’t seem angry like she used to upon meeting Katrina. She’s been getting her pleasures from somewhere else. Her heart must have moved on to another.
Damian isn’t mad about this, but he is greatly concerned. What if it’s not the right person? Or someone who just wanted to toy on her feelings seeing that she’s a vulnerable woman… seeing that she is someone who has been hurt badly and would do anything to make the pain go away.
He must know who this father is…. But Katrina is sleeping, and he can’t wake her up against the directives of the healer. But still, he needs to find out the investigation from somewhere, and there’s only one person that came to his mind to start with.
The one person whom he’s placed Katrina in his care from the time he’s been engaged. The one person who has been watching her and who might have an idea with whom Katrina might have had an affair with.
“Guards!”
“Yes sire!”
“Call Renard for me. Tell him I summon him to my chambers.”
