“So how did your meeting with the red moon alpha go?” Samara asked Walden as she attempted to help him button his shirt as he dressed, like she’d always been doing before. But this time, he acted different, he took her hands away.
Telling her, “It’s fine Samara. I’ve got it, please return to your training.”
Walden had been giving her a strange attitude since, if she hadn’t noticed this before, it was clearly obvious now. No doubt, its because of that stupid Miranda.
“How did your meeting with alpha Jireh go, Walden?” She repeated, adamant to leave. “I heard that the real culprit was found out and executed.”
“It was exactly as you found out Samara. The beta was the one who planned it all, impersonating the alpha, kidnapping you and Miranda in order to have me killed. Now please, if you’ll excuse me, I have some visitors to meet with downstairs.”
“They can wait, Walden. Why are you in such a hurry?”
“Samara, please…”
“I just want to know what went on in the red moon court! We used to discuss about everything, but nowadays you’ve grown so distant from me, it seems as if you don’t even like talking to me anymore. Is anything the matter? Did I do something wrong?”
Walden shook his head, dropping his belt on the bed, “no Samara… I’m sorry, it’s just that my mind has been occupied with a lot of things…”
“Then share them with me. Tell me everything, remember how much we used to confide in each other? How good it felt, don’t you want that anymore?”
“Of course, I do.”
“So, what is it? Tell me!!!”
He didn’t want it to seem obvious that he was distancing her because of Miranda. Oh, well… no harm in telling her what had happened… He sat on the bed, and began to narrate all that Samara wanted to hear.
“After the beta was sentenced, we were about to return home before alpha Jireh persuaded us to dine with him and spend the night, for pleasantries sake. Damian and I agreed, and then during dinner, alpha Jireh and Damian seemed to have so much in common as they discussed. It turned out that Jireh knew Damian’s father so well, and because of the pact that alpha Cillian once shared with alpha Jireh, Damian decided to restore this agreement and sign a peace treaty with alpha Jireh. For the first time ever, the silver pack will be signing a treaty with another pack after the war.”
“Is this what you’ve been worried about?”
“No, not exactly worried, of course, it had nothing to do with me…”
So why does it bother you so much?
“I don’t know…. In the case of Miranda…. it just….” He shook his head, “…I don’t know how this sounds… but that night at the dinner table, I saw another side of Damian, a side I never thought I would see.”
“What side of him did you see?”
“A sincere side of him. A part of him that wanted to embrace change for the first time… he’s never done something like ever since he ascended the throne. I guess Miranda is starting to have an effect on him, unlike the ruthless alpha we all knew that didn’t mind shutting the whole world out, this Damian seemed to be open to welcome friendship.”
Samara sighed. “I know what your problem is.”
“What?”
“You’re beginning to see the genuine love in Miranda and Damian’s relationship, and for some reason, you don’t like it.”
“Of course, How can you expect me to? You know well that I wouldn’t like it. Miranda is supposed to be with me, and not him.”
Samara smirked, speaking the words in her mind as she patted his hand. ‘Do not worry dear Walden, for when my mission is complete, Miranda and Damian would be the least of your problems.’
**********
As she left Walden’s room, Samara began to brainstorm on what to do next. This peace treaty, it could serve as an advantage for her. The treaty symbolizes a lot of things; the main element of which is trust. For alpha Damian to want to sign with alpha Jireh for the first time in over twenty years of the silver pack’s isolation, it means that alpha Damian holds some level of trust for this red moon alpha, a trust she wishes to use for her benefit.
Defeating the silver alpha will be hard, even with the rogues help, but if she could find a traitor, a traitor that alpha Damian holds some level of trust for, a traitor like the red moon alpha would be just perfect.
If Samara can get alpha Jireh on her side, it will be an added gain apart from the rogues that had agreed to help her. It will be an added aid to take down Damian and his lowly wife.
But… there’s a but… a possibility of alpha Jireh refusing to turn against his soon-to-be ally. That wouldn’t be good for her at all, because if she reveals her face as the enemy, alpha Jireh might report and expose her if he doesn’t agree with her terms. She cannot take this risk at all, she knows then that she has to send someone to do the work for her, someone who will persuade alpha Damian to join their team and plan to conquer the silver alpha. She needs someone who will use his identity to protect hers.
Her partner, Valledor, would be perfect for this job, but if alpha Jireh does not agree to betray Damian, Valledor might lose his life… Was she willing to lose another partner for the sake of this mission???
Oh well, it would hurt a lot to lose another team member, but at this point, Samara is desperate, so desperate that she doesn’t mind the number of lives that will be lost for this mission to be accomplished, no matter how relevant they are, so long as in the end, she gets what she wants.
