“I’ve never thought of doing it; it’s been 20 years since the last time I went outside this terrain, and since that time, I’ve never thought of doing it until now.”
“Because of your mate sire?”
He nodded, “yes, because of my mate.”
“Then please let me go in your place sire. The outside world is very dangerous…”
I’ve told you not to attempt to stop me Renard. If truly, the outside world is dangerous and Miranda’s still out there, then there’s no reason for me to keep on remaining here. There’s no reason for me to keep putting myself through endless tortures of thinking whether she’s ever going to return or not. If this is the last time… Even if none of us will make it back, I want to ensure that I see her for one last time…
“I understand sire.”
“I want you to lead operations here while I am gone, that’s why I am telling you this. Make sure that no one finds out that the alpha is not around. You will still keep men guarding these doors, and my room will remain on lock till I return…. If I return..”
“Sire…”
“Thank you for the concern Renard, but my mind is made up. I will keep my phone in hand if there’s anything I should know about, the reports of the census and any other important thing pertaining to Miranda’s kidnap.”
“I will do my very best to keep you updated sire.”
“Good… And Renard?”
“Yes sire?”
“There’s one more favor I would like to ask of you….”
“What is it, sire?”
“Take care of Katrina for me…. She’s presently facing a lot of emotional battles at the moment, and it’s because of my actions. I wish I could do something to make more time for her right now, but Miranda’s life is in danger, I can’t risk any more…”
“Not to worry sire. I’ll watch over her for you while you’re gone. You just focus on bringing our queen back home.”
“Thank you. I knew I could count on you, Renard.”
“Always, sire.”
**********
That evening, alpha Damian left the pack house secretly, and set out on the journey to find his missing mate.
He used his wolf, running far miles ahead throughout the day, taking a few stops by the river to rest his legs and drink before continuing. He reached his destination on the morning of the following day, the night shadow pack house.
**********
Alpha Walden received two messages that day, the first one that had him utterly worried, a ransom note made out of old magazine letters by a group of kidnappers…
***
We have Miranda,
We have Samara.
Come and and get them now,
House 30, Lakeview street,
Off Grand Hurst square,
Blue moon terrain.
You have three days to come pick them up, ON YOUR OWN
Before they become goners.
Your time starts now.
***
The second message was the one that had him utterly shocked, a message from his guard, stating that the silver pack’s alpha had come here in person to see him, and was now chained up in his court.
“You’re sure he came here unharmed?” Walden asked his guard for the hundredth time as he approached his courtroom to meet with Damian.
“Not a weapon was found on him sire, we even searched the surrounding areas. No hidden troops or any planned ambush of the sort. He seems to have come in peace.”
Walden seems find that so hard to believe; a man who nearly tried to kill him weeks ago, same man who threatened him over a phone call, same man who he heard kills spies like cockroaches, now suddenly seems to have come in peace? Ab-surd.
He entered the night shadow court and just like the guard had said, Damian was standing right there in the middle, his hands and legs chained in heavy metal.
“Do my eyes deceive me? A whole silver alpha, standing all chained up in my court, and for what exactly?”
“Believe me Walden, I’m only doing this because I’m left with no choice…”
“And what was it that rid you of your choices? Did something happen?”
“Yes, something did, and you already know what it is..”
He shrugged, “enlighten me then.”
“Don’t play games with me, Walden. Where is Miranda?”
“You think I have her?”
“You may or you may not, but I do know that you are not ignorant of the fact that she’s missing.”
“You must probably think that I’m the one who took her, or that I have a hand in it. What do you think I am? A phycopath that just goes around kidnapping people?”
.
.
.
“Answer me!!!!”
“You have no say on whenever I choose to speak.”
“You forget that you are standing in my court in chains.”
“And you forget what will happen if the silver pack wolves find out that the night shadow alpha murdered their Alpha.”
Walden let out an empty laugh…, “I like you, Damian. Of course, it’s only a foolish alpha that would walk into another man’s territory without a backup, but still, Miranda must be so important for you to be willing to risk your life like this, had it been I just decide to damn the consequences and kill you right here.”
“You have no idea how important Miranda is to me.”
“I don’t, and neither do I care, but for her sake, and for the sake of someone else whom I deeply care about, I’m willing to call a truce.”
Walden then directed his guards to release alpha Damian, they unchained him there and returned his belongings which were formerly seized. These actions of Walden shocked Damian, as he expected more difficulty from the night shadow alpha on his way coming here…
“Thank you…”
“Don’t thank me; because I’m not doing it for you. I’m doing this all for Miranda, because by the end of all this, she’ll see with her own eyes the man who really has her best interest, and she will leave you all alone to come back to me.”
Damian nodded with a smirk, “thanks anyway, and I wish you best of luck with that, friend.”
