*Knock-knock-knock…*
“Come in.”
Katrina entered the room then, her face sold that of so much pity, she must have heard about Miranda’s disappearance. The news must have saddened her too.
“Hello Katrina.”
“Hello Damian.” She came forward. “Oh… I heard all about what happened to Miranda…. it’s such a shame, you two had just gotten married and now look what happened….”
“Thank you for your sympathy Katrina. Is there anything you came here for?”
After reaching where he sat, she gently placed her ass on the study table in front of him, her sitting position clearly revealing the space between her legs.
“Yes… I thought that you might…. Um… need some company. You must be distraught after everything that’s happened…. I thought you might need someone to help you forget about everything….”
He turned his eyes away from her, “I don’t need to forget, Katrina. I need to find my mate….”
“Why are you so bothered about her Damian?”
Her question surprised him, he thought that she was cool about their marriage like she’d said before, but then he’d always known it typical of Katrina to be able to hide her jealousy.
“Why shouldn’t I be? She’s missing for goodness sake! And you aren’t helping by coming here to say all this…”
“I’m sorry…. I just thought you were bothering your head too much about this matter of her disappearance, when you don’t even know if she’s the one who ran away…..”
“She didn’t run away, Katrina, there was enough evidence on the scene to prove that’s he was kidnapped…”
“What? You mean the tranquilizers? Those prove nothing, Damian! The fact that her blood was found on it does not mean that she was shot with it…”
He’d heard enough, “get out, Katrina.”
She rolled her eyes, “wow! So you’re sending me away again… All because of Miranda, you’re pushing me away again, and you’re even doing it when she’s not even here….! You’ve neglected me and now you’re doing it again, all because of Miranda!!!”
“Katrina, please… This isn’t….”
“I have been faithful, loyal…! Name it! I have been nothing but a good mistress to you… I have remained with you for many years, and now this… stranger comes along from nowhere…. And you give her everything! You turn me away and you give her all that you were supposed to give me! All that I wished for! You let her take it all!!!!”
“Katrina….”
The tears flowed freely from her reddened eyes as she poured her heart out to him…
“Because of you, I left this town…. I left here… I risked my life….! I wanted to find out what kind of…. what kind of witchcraft Miranda had used on you to turn your head into something else. I wanted to bring back the Damian I used to know.. Because I knew that he would never settle for such in his right mind, but what do I get???
“Huh….? A message from some so-called seer telling me to stay the hell away from you both! Telling me that I’m evil. How does that make me feel, huh?
” How do you think that makes me feel??? I must have been truly evil, evil to myself for waiting for you for so long!!!!!
“I must have been evil to myself for thinking I’d ever find happiness with you… I must have been so evil… For wishing to carry your child…”
“Katrina…, I… I never knew you felt this way… I never thought you’d carried so much hurt in your heart…”
“Now you know, Damian… Now you do know. So, what are you going to do about it now?”

She waited patiently, her heart so desperate to hear his answer. So desperate that he wouldn’t disappoint her again now…
“I’m sorry Katrina. I wish there was something I could do…”
Sniffs, she’s been crying so much… just look at the way she’s made a fool of herself in front of him, but it’s all right now, because she knows that these are the last tears she will ever shed for Damian..
After wiping her eyes, she got up from the table, her chest held high as she was about to leave.
“I HOPE she never returns…”
After her statement, he heard her angry footsteps storm away, and then the sound of his door closing.

Sad and embarrassed Katrina left through the door, and outside, she met him standing there; beta Renard. He must have heard her conversation with alpha Damian. His expression told her so, but she didn’t need anyone’s pity, especially not him.
She simply eyed him through swollen eyes and kept walking her way, back to her room, his gaze placed on her back.

Damian was still seated in his study, not knowing what to do about Katrina. His mind was so lost, confused… He’s dealing with one problem and then here comes another. This is definitely not the best time for this to happen… This is all too much, even for an alpha…
The beta entered his room then, probably to check on him because alpha Damian hadn’t heard him knocking, his mind was so lost.
“Come in Renard, I was just about to send for you.”
“Is everything okay sire?”
“Sighs, there’s something I want to tell you Renard, and I’m only going to tell you this because of the trust I have for you. You must tell one about this. Do you understand?”
“Yes sire…. I hope there’s no problem sire.”
“There’s already a problem as you can see. What I’m about to tell you is how I intend to solve it.”
“What is it sire..?”
“I’m leaving… I’m leaving the terrain on my own in search of my mate.”
Renard’s eyes glinted, “sire…”
“I know what you’re going to say Renard, and don’t even think of trying to stop me, because there’s nothing you can do or say to change my mind. Absolutely nothing.. This time, it’s different, this time, I must go after her.”
