Chapter 462: Isn’t This a Great Thing?

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2024-6-8

“I haven’t been back for a year, and rumors are flying in Niarak.”
“They even accused me of having an affair with Rose. My fiancee almost killed me.”
“If you have time, could you help me find out who’s spreading these lies? I want to know which scoundrel is behind this!”
Cruz said, extremely frustrated.
Flynn was taken aback and couldn’t help but laugh.
“I thought they wouldn’t make a fuss about this, but it seems they still managed to get to you.”
“It looks like they’re getting desperate.”
Cruz quickly asked, “Who are ‘they’? Boss, do you know what’s going on?”
Flynn calmly explained the situation.
“What the heck? Damn it!”
“Boom!”
The sound of a table breaking came from the other end of the phone.
Cruz was furious.
“The three-family alliance wants to die? They turned baseless rumors into facts!”
“I do know Rose, but we’re just friends. I haven’t even held her hand!”
“Those bastards said I slept with her? Damn it!”
“Boss, who do you think did this?”
Cruz was hopping mad, filled with rage.
“It’s probably got something to do with Braiden,” Flynn speculated.
Layla had always been proud and didn’t take Cruz seriously, so she wouldn’t stoop to such tactics.
Lilia was busy covering a billion-dollar loss and had no time for this.
That left Braiden, who had nothing better to do and had a big issue with Cruz’s ‘interference.’ It was likely his doing.
“Braiden? Great! Last time I went back, he toasted me, and now he’s pulling this behind my back!”
“I’m currently suspended pending investigation. Once it’s over, I’ll go back to Niarak and smash his face in!”
Cruz roared, his curses echoing loudly.
“How you handle it is your business. Why are you yelling in my ear?” Flynn’s face darkened, his voice cold.
Cruz was startled by this and quickly softened his tone.
“Boss, you know my temper. When I get angry, I can’t control it!”
“Please calm down. I’ll apologize when I get back to Niarak, okay?”
Cruz turned into a docile kitten and quickly hung up the phone.
“Who was that, making you so angry?” Scarlet walked over with a plate of food.
Flynn replied irritably, “Braiden accused Cruz of abusing his power and reported him to the military.”
“What?! Braiden is really asking for it. The God of War has a notoriously bad temper,” Scarlet said in shock.
Although Cruz’s family had moved to the Northern Territory, their ancestral graves were still in Niarak, and they would return to pay respects during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
As the God of War who emerged from Niarak, he was universally respected by its people, even Mr. Richardson showed him great respect.
Braiden’s slander would likely not end well for him.
Flynn didn’t care about their mess. His mind was still on his mother, and the more he thought about it, the more his brow furrowed.
He desperately wanted to find the man who led the Grandmaster battle.
Scarlet noticed Flynn’s unusual demeanor and poured him a glass of red wine, concerned.
“Is my cooking not good this time?”
“No, I’m thinking about my mother,” Flynn said heavily after taking a sip of wine.
Scarlet asked, “Did you find another clue?”
“Yes, my mother didn’t die ten years ago,” Flynn explained what had happened that day.
“She didn’t die?”
“Oh my God! Isn’t this wonderful news? Why aren’t you happy? We should celebrate!”
Scarlet became excited and poured herself a glass of wine.
Flynn looked worried. “It’s just my guess; I’m not entirely sure.”
“And it’s been ten years. Who knows what happened since then? I’m afraid to think about it.”
Flynn feared nothing but was extremely sensitive when it came to his mother.
“You’re such a blockhead! Can’t you see the bright side?” Scarlet pinched him and said,
“If your mother didn’t die ten years ago, it means she might still be alive.”
“If she had really died back then, you’d never see her again!”
These words snapped Flynn out of his daze.
Yes!
No matter what happened in those ten years, there was still hope that his mother was alive.
Worrying was better than losing her ten years ago!
“I hope my guess is right and that my mother is blessed.”
“She suffered too much before. In my memory, she never had a day of happiness…”
Flynn recalled past hardships and felt sorrowful.
“I believe your mother is alive. Come on, let’s toast!” Scarlet raised her glass with determination.
Flynn smiled. “I’ll take your word for it. I didn’t buy anything to celebrate your move today. What do you want? I’ll get it for you tomorrow.”
“Do you think I’m materialistic?” Scarlet said angrily. “I don’t even know what to do with that blue diamond from last time!”
“I admit that knowing you were connected to the Pearce family changed my attitude towards you, but it wasn’t because of money.”
“Security, a shoulder to lean on when I’m sad, someone to share joy with-those are the most important things.”
Flynn raised his glass and clinked it with Scarlet’s. “You misunderstood. I just wanted to congratulate you.”
“How about this? Didn’t you want to learn horseback riding? Let’s go to Dream Club tomorrow morning.”
Scarlet agreed happily. “Sure! I’ll accept that gift. Besides, we haven’t gone out for fun in a long time!”
Flynn nodded and looked around the room. “The place is pretty big, about three hundred square meters.”
“Actually, you didn’t need to buy another house. I have plenty of rooms at my place; they’re just sitting empty.”
Scarlet shook her head and smiled.
“My mom doesn’t want me accepting your things because it seems materialistic.”
“She also doesn’t want us living together too soon; she’s afraid you’ll lose interest quickly.”
Flynn didn’t expect Scarlet to be so honest and raised an eyebrow. “What do you think?”
“I think she’s wrong. Even if we don’t live together, you’ll get bored quickly.”
“Because you’re such a playboy. You won’t be satisfied until all fifteen guest rooms in your house are filled with girls.” Scarlet rolled her eyes.
“Fifteen guest rooms filled?” Flynn shook his head. “I can’t agree… because fifteen isn’t enough!”
Scarlet immediately got angry and punched Flynn hard. “You might as well be an animal! Exhaust yourself to death!”
They playfully fought for a while until all the food on the table was gone.
Flynn sat for a bit longer before tentatively asking,
“It’s getting late. Should I go back?”
Scarlet smiled and stayed on the sofa. “Sure, get some rest. Good night!”
She lay on the sofa with her legs crossed, her feet rubbing together as she looked at Flynn with an increasingly mischievous smile.
Flynn couldn’t help but feel parched looking at her legs in stockings.
“Uh… I forgot I didn’t drive today. Could you… give me a ride?” Flynn blushed and coughed.
Scarlet raised an eyebrow mischievously. “You’re a billionaire; can’t you afford a cab?”
Flynn got annoyed and slammed the door shut. “You’ve stayed at my place so many times; tonight I’m staying here!”
“Alright, there are three guest rooms. Pick one,” Scarlet said with a smile as her hand slowly moved up her leg.
Flynn felt a surge of desire and quickly grabbed her legs and waist, lifting her up and heading towards the master bedroom.
“I’m not staying in a guest room; I’m sleeping in the master bedroom with you!”
