Scarlet sighed when she heard the intensity in Madeline’s voice. “It seems you really resent Flynn because of Marcel.”
“Resent him?” Madeline’s voice rose sharply, followed by a cold laugh. “Is he worth my resentment? Just an ungrateful wretch raised by the Kaur family!”
“We’ll go our separate ways from now on, as strangers.”
Scarlet was at a loss for words.
If she didn’t resent him, why was her voice so loud? Even a three-year-old could hear the deep-seated loathing.
Who would believe she didn’t resent him? It was just self-deception.
“Oh, by the way! Sis, Acebegron Clear Relief is about to crash. You should withdraw your investment quickly, or the Kaur family will be in real danger.”
Scarlet suddenly remembered something and hurriedly advised.
“Did you get this information from Flynn?” Madeline asked disdainfully.
Scarlet nodded seriously and said, “Yes, it’s really going to crash. Energence Pharmaceuticals already has plans to take over Swanson Pharmaceuticals.”
“Flynn said that once it crashes, Swanson’s Group will either be dead or half-dead!”
Scarlet knew that Energence Pharmaceuticals was developing a new drug to counter the side effects of Acebegron Clear Relief. But the new drug was still confidential and couldn’t be disclosed.
Madeline waved her hand dismissively. “It’s just Energence Pharmaceuticals ruining Acebegron Clear Relief’s reputation to scare off investors.”
“Who would believe such low tactics? Investors keep pouring money into Swanson Pharmaceuticals.”
“I only regret having only two billion. If I had twenty billion, I’d invest it all!”
Scarlet sighed slightly and said, “Since you believe Nathan is the mastermind behind Ms. Sharp, why not invest in Sharp’s Group?”
Madeline replied, “The three-family alliance has Layla in charge. Even with Nathan, Rose can’t win.”
“Layla has terrifying connections through treating high-profile families, making many powerful friends.”
“Nathan, as a noble heir, can’t compare to Layla.”
“Besides, Nathan only supports Ms. Sharp with connections, not investments.”
“This indirectly proves one thing-he’s wary of Layla’s power and uncertain about the future, so he doesn’t want to fully engage in this business war.”
Scarlet was speechless and didn’t know how to persuade Madeline anymore.
She knew Madeline’s personality-overconfident and dismissive of others’ advice, which was why she had struggled in recent years.
But as a relative, Scarlet didn’t want to see the Kaur family go bankrupt. And with Madeline at odds with Flynn, she was caught in the middle. So she advised again:
“I think there’s no need for you and Flynn to be so hostile. After all, you said it yourself, Flynn has some skills and knows Orion and Marcel.”
“If you weren’t so hostile, you could ask him for help if the Kaur family is in trouble.”
Madeline laughed. “Scarlet, you’re still young and don’t understand the deeper operations in business.”
“Nathan wants to help Rose but doesn’t want to get involved directly, so he pushes Flynn to the forefront.”
“Since Flynn is his spokesperson, he must give him some benefits, like helping Flynn connect with Orion and Marcel.”
“Flynn approaches them under Nathan’s name for investments.”
“And I believe Flynn met Mr. Price through Nathan and used his methods to cure the Pearce family’s illness.”
“If Ms. Sharp goes bankrupt, Nathan will push Flynn out to clear his name.”
“He’ll say Flynn used his name for investments without his knowledge, shifting Orion’s hatred onto Flynn.”
“This is called risk avoidance. If Ms. Sharp wins, Nathan reaps the benefits; if she loses, Flynn takes the fall.”
Madeline’s analysis left Scarlet almost crazy.
But she felt relieved.
It’s hard to persuade a doomed soul.
She had said and advised everything she could.
Madeline had a deep-seated bias against Flynn that couldn’t be changed with a few words.
“Alright, you’ve just moved in. Clean up your room. I have work at the company,” Scarlet said.
“Oh! One more thing-if Rose goes bankrupt, Flynn will have nothing left.”
“You may not be as capable as me to attract someone like Nathan.”
“But marrying into a wealthy family shouldn’t be a problem for you.”
“No need to waste time on Flynn.”
With that, Madeline walked away from Northshore Gardens with an arrogant stride.
Soon after, Flynn knocked on Scarlet’s door.
“I heard from Miss George that you used the army to turn Eight Extremities School’s cars into scrap metal. That must have felt great!”
Scarlet welcomed him excitedly.
Flynn remained calm and said indifferently, “I wanted to handle it myself, but Major General offered to help, so I let him.”
Scarlet pulled Flynn to sit down and asked, “I heard that as the chief instructor of the special forces, you’d get a major’s rank. Is that true?”
Flynn leaned back on the sofa and said casually, “Yes, it’s customary. Major General also mentioned that if Blade makes it to the top three, he’d help me apply for a brigadier general rank, but I refused.”
“A brigadier general? You refused?” Scarlet was shocked.
A brigadier general was a high-ranking officer equivalent to a division commander or deputy division commander-a position that brought honor to one’s family!
Flynn actually refused it.
“Yes, I don’t want any ties with the military for now,” Flynn said.
Scarlet paused and then said, “That makes sense. Holding a military position would bind you with rules and make you cautious in your actions.”
“It’s not suitable for your current situation.”
She then excitedly added, “Madeline was here earlier. We talked for a while, and I finally understood why she doesn’t like you.”
“I can tell you why, but you can’t tell anyone else or do anything drastic.”
Flynn frowned slightly and asked back, “Why should I care about her thoughts? Whether she likes me or not has nothing to do with me!”
Scarlet rolled her eyes at his cold response and lightly punched him. “I’m going to cook!”
She tied on an apron and went into the kitchen.
Flynn leaned back on the sofa, continuing to ponder his mother’s matters, feeling more puzzled.
The current clues pointed to King of Poison’s superior being a man with a black dragon tattoo on his hand living in Pelens.
Someone who could orchestrate a battle involving over a hundred Grandmasters must have significant social standing.
With such narrowed-down criteria, it should be easy to find him.
Why hadn’t Orion found any information yet?
Flynn didn’t doubt Orion’s diligence; he was more anxious than himself after assigning the task.
But they still couldn’t find that man.
Where was the problem?
A trace of worry flashed across Flynn’s face as his eyes filled with coldness.
At that moment, his phone rang.
“Cruz?”
Flynn was surprised and answered the call.
“Boss, are you still in Niarak?”
“Yes, why?” Flynn replied impatiently. “Damn it! You didn’t tell the central six elders about my presence in Niarak, did you?”
Cruz quickly replied, “No, no! How could I dare? I just wanted to ask if you’re comfortable there.”
“Get to the point!” Flynn said impatiently.
He didn’t believe Cruz called just for this.
“Hehe… nothing escapes you.”
“Boss, I’ve been anonymously accused of corruption and deception.”
“They claim I repeatedly intervened in Niarak’s business wars for a woman.”
“And colluded with the government to buy thousands of acres of land in Ponocord Bay at low prices for billions in benefits.”
“I’m sitting here in Northern Territory while trouble falls from the sky! I need your help to look into this…”
