Chapter 780 In the Past

Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-6-8

“This is all internal information. I only found out accidentally when Chris was on the phone,” Dylan, who had been in Kurima for many years, understood the power of the Murphy family even better. The alliance between the Stuart family and the Murphy family is beneficial to both sides. If things get out of hand, Brendon should be able to handle it, but it will definitely come at a cost.”
“Ranita, the Murphy family isn’t easy to deal with. I suggest you take Ayaan back to Steland. Don’t get involved.”
“You make it sound easy. Ranita has long been involved. How could she stay out of it?” Eve said impatiently.
Dylan urged with concern, “Ranita, it’s up to you to decide.”
“But the Murphy family is too much. Brendon wants to break off the engagement, yet they still insist. Isn’t this bullying?”
“Shannon is despicable!”
Ranita held Eve’s shoulder, “Alright, everyone calm down a bit. Brendon’s affairs can be handled by himself, no need to worry about him.”
Although she said so, Ranita was still concerned. She messaged Mr. Adams to inquire. Mr. Adams was well-informed but it took some time, and he replied to Ranita almost at dawn.
“Recently, there have been some friction between the Stuart Group and the Tamron Group, but Brendon’s abilities should be able to handle it. It just requires a bit more time and effort.”
Upon receiving the reply, Ranita felt somewhat relieved, but still cautioned, “Keep an eye out for me. If there’s any situation, let me know immediately.”
Ranita couldn’t sleep. After checking on Ayaan, she sat in the garden lost in thought.
Dylan rarely stayed in this villa. There was only one magnolia tree in the garden, left unattended but thriving, and especially attracting mosquitoes.
After sitting for a while, Ranita’s legs were bitten several times, and her annoyance was swept away along with it.
“Swoosh!” Suddenly, a faint sound came.
Ranita perked up her ears, about to get up when she saw a figure vaulting over the not-so-high wall. Ranita was startled, her back hairs stood on end. Just as she was about to run away, she heard a familiar voice, “Why run?”
Brendon?
In the dim light, Brendon’s figure came into view, his eyes staring at her intensely.
Ranita’s breath caught, and it took her a while to recover and ask, “How did you… climb the wall?”
It was really hard to imagine Brendon being involved in such a thing.
The man slowly walked over, his shadow enveloping her, looking down at her from above, “If I didn’t climb the wall, would you let me in?”
Ranita said irritably, “If you have something to say, you can call.”
“Hurry up, I’m going back to rest.”
Brendon didn’t speak, but reached out and grabbed her wrist, “Why aren’t you sleeping so late? What are you doing here?”
“Feeding mosquitoes,” Ranita looked at Brendon indifferently, “It’s late, and you haven’t gone home either, have you?”
His sour tone made Brendon’s heart tremble.
With his brows lowered, Brendon explained calmly, “Ranita, I’ve already talked to the Murphys, and the divorce won’t change.”
“But in the end, Shannon will announce it. She said she needs some time to prepare.”
After all, they were old acquaintances, so they didn’t completely fall out.
Ranita stared at him blankly and said, “Why are you telling me this… What does it have to do with me and Shannon…”
“Ranita.” Brendon’s finger slid to her fingertips, firmly pinching them before reaching out to hug her. Brendon hugged her tightly, and the warmth and breath from his body made her heart beat wildly.
The man whispered softly in her ear, “Let’s not fight, okay?”
“Ranita, can we go back to how we used to be?”
