Brendon stood downstairs for a long time, watching the lights upstairs go on and off before disappearing into the night.
Since leaving the apartment, Ranita felt a car following her. She felt nervous, fearing the car might hit her from behind at the red light several times.
She broke out in a cold sweat.
Just then, Mr. Goodman called.
“Mr. Goodman, there’s a car following me!” Ranita quickly said, “Is the person you hired following me?”
Mr. Goodman exclaimed, “A car following you? I just received a report saying they found a suspicious person dressed as a maintenance electrician outside the apartment.”
“He’s a tall, thin man. As soon as our people approached him, he ran away, and they chased him.”
Seeing the green light, Ranita stepped on the gas pedal quickly, feeling even more anxious.
“But that car has been following me!” Ranita knew that being anxious wouldn’t help, so she had to find a way to shake off the person herself.
“Mr. Goodman, are you sure the person being chased is the right one? What if…”
“Don’t worry. The people I hired are reliable. Two of them are protecting you, and if they notice anything wrong, they’ll stop it.” Mr. Goodman paused, comforting her, “Don’t worry, drive safely.”
Ranita calmed down a bit and continued driving towards the HY Villa Area.
The journey was smooth, but just as Ranita parked the car, a figure suddenly rushed out from behind and grabbed her arm.
“Ah!” Ranita was startled, almost hitting the car. “Don’t come over! I’m telling you, I have someone at the police station. If you dare to hurt me…”
Ranita stopped abruptly.
She stared blankly at the man in front of her, who was gazing at her faintly. She relaxed her breath: “Why is it you? Are you trying to scare me to death?”
Ranita thought it was someone else, but it turned out to be Brendon!
But how did he end up in the HY Villa Area?
Was it just a coincidence?
Just then, someone’s sweet voice sounded: “Brendon, why did you come here? Do you know I’m coming over here and specially came out to meet me?”
“I’m so happy!” Shannon laughed sweetly and happily, reaching out to hold Brendon’s arm, completely ignoring Ranita.
“I knew you wouldn’t ignore me.” Shannon leaned towards Brendon affectionately, her affectionate attitude obvious.
Brendon frowned slightly, gently pushing her hand away, saying, “Shannon, be careful, don’t run so fast.”
“Brendon, with your concern, I’m sure I’ll get better soon.” Shannon’s big eyes were full of innocence and pity, making anyone unable to say anything harsh.
Brendon pursed his lips, about to speak, but Shannon preempted him, surprised as if she had just noticed Ranita: “Ah? Ranita? So you’re here too! I didn’t even notice you…”
“Brendon, it’s all your fault. When you appear, all I can see is you! I couldn’t even see Ranita.”
“I was really rude just now. Ranita, you won’t blame me, will you?”
As Shannon spoke, she moved closer to Brendon, seemingly oblivious to Brendon’s resistance.
Ranita felt disgusted, her heart stung to the extreme.
She lowered her eyelashes, her voice cold, “Excuse me, please move aside, you’re blocking my way.”
“Ranita…” Shannon looked even more aggrieved, pitifully looking at her, tears welled up in her eyes quickly, as if she had been bullied by Ranita.
