Emerson saw Candice looking as if she was shocked badly, and reached over to pull her into his arms, “Everything’s fine, everything’s fine, I’m here.”
Candice put one hand on her abdomen, slowly raised her head and looked into Emerson’s eyes, and asked lightly, “Emerson, am I pregnant?”
Emerson’s pupils shrunk. “How would you be pregnant? It’s not true.”
Lily climbed up from the floor difficultly, she was still smiling although her face was covered in blood, “Haha, Candice, you heard him. He still said that you’re not pregnant. The ultrasound doctor was my schoolmate, she told me that you’re pregnant, and for seven weeks already! He just wanted to abort your child, so he told you that you’re not pregnant! This man is a cold-blooded animal with no heart, he is the devil, he wouldn’t even leave his own child alone, he’s just playing with you, haha…”
Two people came in from outside and pulled the crazed Lily away, but Lily’s shrieking laughter continued into the corridor, “This is karma, this is your karma, haha, karma…”
Candice grabbed Emerson’s arm, her nails piercing his skin, “Am I really pregnant for seven weeks?”
“Candice, hear me out…”
“I won’t, I just want to know if I’m pregnant!” Candice’s eyes moistened.
Watching Candice like this, Emerson could only nod, “Yes, you’re pregnant. But this child can’t stay.”
The doctor explained on the side, “Miss Candice, Mr. Emerson made this decision without other choices. The condition of your body is unclear, no matter benign or pernicious the tumour in your ovary has to be operated as soon as possible. As for the child, you could only let it go, if…”
“No ifs!”
Candice let Emerson go, and said adamantly, “This is my child, he is in my abdomen, if he chose me to be his mother, I’ll protect him. No ifs, no ifs whatsoever!”
Emerson hugged Candice, and used the lightest tone to console, “Candice, we’ll have more children once your body recovers.”
Candice pushed Emerson away, “No, we’ll not be able to have any after. I did a test of my tumour, and it was pernicious. Even if we don’t want this child, even if I went through the operation it wouldn’t change the ending. So, I must have this child. I will all my strength to have him.”
Emerson shook his head, hardened his heart and grabbed Candice’s hand, “No, I will not let you have this child. It is not the right time for his arrival. I don’t want him, I just want you to be alive! Doctor, come give her the injection!”
At Emerson’s order, the doctor picked up the readied tranquiliser.
Candice looked at the chilling needle, and begun to struggle crazily, “Let go of me, Emerson! I don’t want an injection, I don’t! I want this child, I don’t want you to kill him. Or else I won’t live to see the sun rise tomorrow!”
The doctor froze, and Emerson was shocked.
What did Candice say? If he forced her into an abortion, she will not live to see the sun tomorrow?
Her obedience had always been a façade, she was crueller than anyone when she decided to. She had left for five years, and walked into the ocean on her own.
Emerson’s body felt like it was falling, she said that he was cruel, but this woman was tens of thousands crueller than him!
The doctor left.
They were left alone in the room. Emerson watched Candice who was avoiding him at all costs and shrunk into a ball at the end of the bed protecting her abdomen, and said after a long pause, “Fine, you could keep the child if you want. Anything you want, I’ll promise you.”
“Really?” Candice’s eyes were alert.
Emerson nodded, “I’ll never lie to you.”
So the abortion was cancelled, and the examination was cancelled, Candice returned from the hospital back home. She looked at the pea sized thing on the ultrasound report for all afternoon.
She did not think that losing control once at her parents’ place would leave a seed in her abdomen growing discreetly. The little thing was so strong that it grew adamantly in her sick body, and nearly died along with her, she had even been in a coma for a month, and yet it was still fine.
Since it wanted to come into this world so badly, what reason did she have to let him go?
