Early the next morning, Candice insisted on leaving the hospital.
She told her son that she had a cold and hypoglycemia. She would be ok after a rest.
Candice went on to work and had a good meal. She was in a good mood. But little Edward was still acutely aware of something, but he was afraid that his mother will worry about him, so he didn’t say anything.
Seven days passed in a flash.
Seven days later, Candice was waiting on the hospital bench for the final results. She hoped that the thing growing in her body was benign, and that a small operation could restore her health. It was not that she cherished her life, but she wanted to grow up with her
son. But if it’s malignant, she needed to plan for her son’s future.
Finally, the result came out. Seeing the doctor’s expression, Candice knew that God didn’t bless herself.
The result of examination was malignant. It was cancer. It was ovarian cancer.
Candice held the report of examination and sat alone in a chair in the hospital rest area. After sitting for a long time, she was relieved and laughed.
God didn’t forgive her.
Death was also a release.
The doctor advised Candice to prepare two hundred thousand and be hospitalized so that surgery and chemotherapy could be performed as soon as possible to extend the length of life and improve the quality of life.
Candice said she didn’t want to operate in a small hospital in the county, she was going to a big hospital. In this way, the doctor did not urge her to stay. He also hoped that his patients would go to a better hospital.
Candice went to the kindergarten to resign and said goodbye to Max. Max was not a fool. She didn’t accept his love in recent years. He knew that she didn’t like him, and it’s meaningless to show love to her.
It was still the long journey as five years ago. Candice and her son went to the place she once escaped.
She still covered in a sour quilt. Edward nestled in his mother’s arms and asked, “Mom, are you taking me to dad?”
Candice was shocked, but she smiles at her son, “why you ask such a question?”
Candice used to punish his son for reciting 300 poems and she was still very strict to her son. She knew that she was an unqualified mother, and did not want to leave a fierce image in her son’s limited memory. So she has to smile at her son as much as possible in the limited time
Instead of answering his mother’s question, Edward took a page from a magazine out of his pocket, “Mom, is this my dad?”
Candice was surprised. She was sure that she had never told her son who his father was and she had never said anything in her dream. But he took Emerson’s cover and asked if this was his father.
Candice touches the person on the cover with her finger and whispers a lie, “Edward, this man’s name is Emerson. He’s your father’s brother, that’s your father Emerson.”
Edward had a deep expression that didn’t match his age, “father Emerson? Why do I look like him?”
Candice reached out and touched her son’s little head and tried to smile, “because your father and his brother look a little like each other, it’s not surprising that you look like your father Emerson.”
Edward lowered his head and his eyes full of disappointment. A certain thing was denied, which he did not expect.
Candice took a deep breath and said to her son, “Edward, mom tells you that your father was in prison for a bad thing before you were born. In two days, your father will be out of prison. So mom brings you to meet your dad. Will you dislike your father?”
Edward shook his head, “whether my father is a boss or a prisoner, at least he is still alive. Once upon a time, I always thought dad was not in this world.”
Candice reaches out and hugs her son tightly in her arms. Her eyes are red, and she tries to keep her tears from falling.
She thought in the heart, “I’m sorry, mom can’t tell you the truth. Your identity is a taboo. Only in accordance with the identity set before, you can come back in an aboveboard manner, and live in the Stewart family without being criticized.”
