In the old house, Laura got the news from someone unknown that Jacob was crashed down by Katherine’s car. She hurried to the hospital.
After making sure her son was fine, Laura felt relieved. Then she gave a cold glimpse to Katherine, “Follow me.”
Jacob frowned. As he wanted to persuade, Katherine gave him a look and shook her head.
Now that she decided to stay with him, she had to handle the conflict between Laura and her. The relationship between the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law mattered.
As soon as she left the door and turned around – –
“Bang!”
She was slapped on her right cheek. Suddenly, tears welled up in her eyes.
Laura sat on the bench gracefully with the arrogant face, “I thought you had taken my advice. I had never thought you wanted to leave with the kids.”
Ignoring the pain on her cheek, Katherine lowered her eyes. She knew she was wrong, “Sorry.”
“Sorry?” Laura smiled coldly, “Two years ago you pretended to have died and leave Jacob. Jacob shut himself at home, drinking and smoking all days. These years, he lived like a ghost. I passed over you.”
“Without the kids, do you think I’ll allow you to stay with Jacob? Now you’re the man! How dare you crash Jacob? Will I end like that if I piss you off? The slap is a warning.”
Katherine took a deep breath, raised her head and looked back at Laura seriously, “I admit I wanted to leave Jacob with the kids for my own ends. But now I’ve understood that it would be better for the kids to stay in the Murray’s. I promise I won’t have these ideas anymore.”
After pausing, she said more honestly and sincerely, “Please give me one more chance.”
Laura stared at her coldly, saying nothing.
Katherine didn’t retreat.
“For the sake of Jacob and the kids, I can give you a chance, but…”
Laura raised her hands and looked at her delicate and beautiful nails, cruelty flashing across her eyes, “If I know you have the similar idea or do something harmful to Jacob, it’s more than a slap.”
Katherine of course could sense the cruelty from her tones, but she was determined, “I swear I won’t.”
Laura was a bit relaxed but still cold. She then immediately said, “I’ll look after the kids during this period. You’d better take good care of Jacob.” Then she turned around and left.
Katherine froze and gave a relieved sigh.
Laura Well agreed.
Katherine returned to the ward. Jacob frowned and asked her, “Did my mother make you troubles?”
Katherine shook her head and stared at Jacob. Thinking what Laura said just now, she wanted to ask him something, but abruptly she felt relieved.
It was nonsense to mention the past. What mattered was to treasure the current.
“Kate.” Jacob suddenly called her seriously.
“Yes?” Katherine sat beside him.
Jacob tightly caught her hands, “Just now I had a thought. If you agreed to stay with me because of guilty, then…”
“No.” Katherine interrupted him.
Jacob froze. He looked at her desperately, “Then for what?”
He himself could not forgive what he did to her in the past. However, she was still willing to be with him. Why?
He wanted an answer.
Katherine felt he set a trap for her, but his desperate gaze made her reveal what had been hidden in her heart for years. She pressed her lips, “Because I love you.”
But her every single word stroke heavily on Jacob’s heart.
Jacob tightly held her in his arms as if he wanted to insert her into his bones. He said clearly and forcefully, “I love you too.”
As Katherine was considering how to tell Theo about this, she saw his messages.
For Theo, Katherine was grateful and guilty. When she saw the messages, she became guiltier.
But she couldn’t give him any reply.
She deleted his messages and didn’t reply. Instead, she sent back the ring that was thrown by Jacob and later found by her to Theo’s company but she wrote nothing.
She planned to forget the feelings between Theo and her, so it was unnecessary to write anything.
Laura picked up Jacob in person the day he left hospital.
Katherine helped him go to the car, but he suddenly stopped.
“What’s wrong?”
As soon as Katherine finished the question, Jacob smiled towards her. The next second, he got down on one knee.
Katherine was surprised.
“Kate, marry me one more time.” Jacob took out the ring and gazed at her deeply.
The passers-by around them stopped their steps.
Katherine was shocked and she couldn’t tell her feeling, which was mixed with surprise, happiness, excitement…
Various feelings flooded into her. When she gathered her wits together, she found her face covered with tears.
Perhaps she had waited for it for too long.
Jacob looked at her gently and abruptly asked, “Ms. Katherine Sue, will you marry Mr. Jacob Murray?”
Katherine immediately smiled through tears. She looked back at him and nodded seriously, “Yes, I… do.”
The passers-by clapped their hands.
With smiles on her face, Katherine looked around the crowd. When she saw Laura who got off the car sometime, she was a little nervous.
Would she agree?
But the next second, Laura looked at her and they looked at each other. Laura put on a smile.
She agreed.
Katherine couldn’t stop her tears but she raised the corners of her lips.
Jacob put the ring on her fingers solemnly. Katherine tightly seized the ring. All her life, she would never take it off.
