A group of people walked in slowly. The leader was slender, dressed in a tailored suit. He had a neat hairstyle, a handsome face, and deep eyes. He looked like a cold person and stood out from the crowd, quite eye-catching.
Katherine recognized this person at a glance. His face was something she could never forget.
Jacob!
Her memories surfaced in her mind, together with her dream last night.
Katherine’s hands and feet were cold instantly. Hearing the faint commotion beside her, she subconsciously stepped back and hid behind everyone else.
Everyone else was anxious to stand in the front, and as soon as they saw her stepping back, they immediately went up and took her place.
Her colleague nudged Katherine’s hand. “What’s the matter?”
“I don’t feel very well. I’m going to the washroom.” Katherine forced a smile and left quickly.
Jacob had already entered the hall and glanced around. Through the corner of his eye, he saw a familiar figure. He paused and quickly looked over.
But that person disappeared at the turn.
Jacob frowned and felt weird. The manager greeted him and shook hands. Jacob focused his wandering mind and stopped thinking.
While Katherine hurriedly hid in the bathroom, her heart still kept thumping. She washed her face and saw her pale face in the mirror. She couldn’t help but smile wryly.
After more than two years, Jacob still had a significant influence on her.
She only saw him from afar and it was enough to cause a panic.
In the past two years, she tried her best to stop thinking about the past. Just remembering one thing from the past was enough to hurt her as if her heart was being grilled in a furnace.
His cold attitude hurt her seriously.
Without Theo, she would have gone to Hell with her two children long ago.
She hated it! But there was no other way except avoiding him. Never let him find out that she was alive, nor let him know of Felix and Merry’s existence.
Katherine calmed down in the washroom after a while. Only then did she return to the office. Everyone was already back.
Her colleague was concerned but Katherine told her everything was fine. Katherine then pretended to ask casually, “When is that important person going to leave?”
“He should be gone after discussing the cooperation. He is, after all, the manager of a large company, so he wouldn’t have much time to waste here.”
Katherine breathed a sigh of relief and moved her chair closer to the window so that she could see the movement downstairs. She would know as soon as Jacob left.
Katherine always worked hard, but this morning, she was a little absent-minded. Her eyes kept looking down, and she didn’t even dare leave the office out of fear of meeting Jacob.
After completing her work, it was lunch break.
Her colleague asked Katherine to go out for lunch, but Katherine declined. “What if I met Jacob when I went out?” Katherine was worried.
Her colleague thought Katherine didn’t feel well, so she offered, “I’ll buy it for you then.”
Katherine smiled gratefully. “Thank you.”
The moment her colleague left, Katherine looked out the window and immediately saw Jacob.
He wasn’t the only one. A bunch of people followed after him.
The two groups said goodbye to each other. When Jacob turned to leave, he looked up.
The floor that Katherine worked on was close to the ground. When she felt him looking at her, she immediately squatted down in fright.
She took a deep breath, left this window, and went to another window. She looked down in secret and found that Jacob was still looking up. The direction that he was looking in seemed to be where she was just now.
Katherine was a little worried. After a few seconds, Jacob withdrew his gaze, and she was relieved.
The manager saw Jacob keep looking up and was puzzled. “Mr. Murray, what’s the matter?”
Jacob’s thoughts over it and withdrew his gaze. He shook his head. “Nothing.”
“I just happened to look in that direction and seemed to see a familiar face…” Jacob thought.
But it was kind of far, so he was not sure.
And it was just for a moment, so perhaps he was dazzled?
Remembering the back he saw when he entered the lobby, Jacob frowned and suddenly asked, “I’d like to know whether there is a person named Katherine Sue working here?”
“Katherine Sue?” The manager was stunned and shook his head. “I haven’t heard of her. Would you like me to help you ask around?”
If she was just a low-level employee, then it was normal that the manager didn’t know.
Jacob wanted to say no, but thinking of the two “coincidences” just now, he nodded. “Thanks.”
The manager was interested and decided to beat about the bush. “Who is she?”
Jacob pursed his lips and looked into the distance. “She’s my wife.”
The manager was puzzled. How could his wife be in their company? Besides, how could Jacob not even know where his wife worked?
“My wife has a bad temper. She likes to run away from home when she gets angry. At the moment, she ran away from home, and I haven’t found her yet. I just saw someone here who looked like her. I couldn’t take a closer look, so please keep an eye out.”
Seeing that Jacob, who was not very talkative, suddenly speak such a long sentence, the manager couldn’t help but become serious and take the matter to heart.
