Chapter 48 I’m So Exhausted

Book:The Surging Of Love Published:2024-5-1

At first, Rachel didn’t want to say something so harsh to Sienna, but she couldn’t bear it anymore. She calmly told Sienna about her analysis, “Ewan doesn’t want to marry you at all. Even without me, he still wouldn’t want to give in to marry you. I don’t know why he has changed his mind before that, but currently he’s quite determined. Neither you nor I could change his mind.”
Sienna ripped off the necklace on her neck with rage and showed it to her. “Remember this necklace?”
When Rachel saw the familiar jade, her heart trembled slightly. “Of course.”
Sienna smiled bitterly in tears. “It’s good that you still remember it. It’s called ‘Forever’. It’s an invaluable treasure left by Ewan’s mother to him. Do you know it has hidden meaning?”
Rachel’s lips parted slightly. She bit back the words at the tip of her tongue. Looking at the jade, she felt a slight pang of her heart.
Sienna knew that Rachel didn’t have the courage to tell it out; she made it clear to her. “It represents love, inheritance, and eternity. When Ewan asked you to give it to me, you also read the letter. You clearly know I’m the woman he loves and wants to marry, but now you’re taking advantage of the conflicts between us to intervene. You vicious devil!”
Rachel opened her mouth slightly to breathe, her heart suffocating with a sharp pain.
Sienna called her a vicious devil?
She had almost been driven crazy. Now she had turned to a vicious devil in others’ eyes, and the whole world blamed her for having no conscience.
Her father blamed her for not saving Leah from the jail, calling her an ungrateful one.
Her grandpa also knew about her marriage somehow and showed his attitude clearly, asking her to let go as soon as possible.
Her mother had already hinted that she should know who she was.
If the Hill family knew about her marriage with Ewan, they would have the same attitude as Sienna had now.
Even Ewan blamed her being ruthless because she insisted on divorcing him.
Whatever she did was wrong under every circumstance. Finally she decided to do nothing.
Rachel thought for a moment and said calmly, “Sienna, I can’t do anything except saying sorry to you. I’ve always been passive. I’ve never thought about stealing your man from you, let alone ending up like this. I don’t know why Ewan insists on marrying me and has a tough attitude towards the divorce. He…”
“Stop making high-sounding excuses for yourself,” Sienna exclaimed in outrage, stopping her before she could finish her words. Her watery eyes were full of hostility. With the ray of hatred, she stared daggers at her, stressing each syllable, “Forget it, I’m just as blind as a bat. I’m so unfortunate to have you as my bestie.”
Rachel was startled, feeling her heart was torn apart. She clenched her fists tightly to endure Sienna’s verbal abuse. This was what she deserved.
Sienna stood up, held her coffee mug furiously, and smashed it towards Rachel mercilessly.
With a snap, the coffee splashed on Rachel’s face.
Rachel froze and closed her eyes tightly. Her entire face and clothe were full of coffee stains. The aroma of coffee spread in her breath, and the liquid slowly flowed from her face to her clothes, making her embarrassed and miserable.
Her messy look also attracted other patrons’ attention in the cafe.
Rachel was sitting still with her eyes closed.
Sienna threw the empty mug on the table fiercely, picked up her purse, and hung it on her shoulder. She said steadily, “Rachel White, suit yourself. Your husband is stolen from someone else. You wouldn’t have a good end!”
Then Sienna turned around, stepped on angry steps, and left the cafe resolutely.
After a long time, Rachel slowly opened her eyes, took the paper napkin on the table, and gently wiped the coffee from her hair and cheeks.
She felt wronged now, but she had indeed become an immoral woman.
It was her own choice. Hence, even if everyone scolded her and probably she wouldn’t end well, she had to walk on with a smile.
Wiping away the stains, she picked up the backpack, ignored others’ gazes and whispers, paid the bill, and left the cafe.
Wearing sportswear stained with coffee all over her body, Rachel walked awkwardly on the street under the strange gazes of passers-by.
If she went home like this, her family might be worried, and Mason would definitely go after her for an answer.
Rachel didn’t want to cause any drama, so she bought a new set of clothes from a shop and checked in an hourly rate room in a hotel. She took a shower there before going home.
When she arrived at the Hill Manor, it was late at night.
The bright moon was hanging in the sky where rare stars could be seen. Everything was quiet.
The Hill Manor was dimly lit, and it had been quieted down as well. When Rachel returned home, the whole family had fallen asleep.
Her tired body was limp, and her steps were heavy. It took her a lot of efforts to make a single move.
She felt exhausted both mentally and physically, and all she wanted was to find a shoulder to snuggle.
When she passed by Ewan’s bedroom, she suddenly stopped.
She tilted her head and looked at the door, deep in thought for a moment.
Thoughts struggling on her mind, she tangled and hesitated.
Eventually she obeyed her will, walked to the door, and opened it without knocking.
Rachel walked in like she was entering her own room and closed the door behind her.
Ewan was sitting on the sofa and reading something. When he heard the door being opened, he looked up and instantly saw Rachel coming in. He was startled.
The man’s eyes were filled with astonishment, and he looked at her in confusion.
She closed the door, took off her backpack, and hung it on the wall. Then she walked directly towards him.
Ewan couldn’t help but wonder if she had gone to the wrong room as her movement was so naturally in one go.
He was still expecting to see how she would react when seeing him. Rachel came straight to him in a fast pace.
Ewan was stunned. She approached and suddenly pounced on him, pressing him on the sofa with her arms around his neck.
His heart trembled slightly and then it beat like a drum. His whole body stiffened, and the file in his hand dropped to the floor.
His breathing was fluctuated and he froze in disbelief. Motionless, Ewan gaped for a while.
Rachel’s whole body was lying on his. Pressing against his chest, she was afraid to look into his eyes from the beginning till the end, yet she had done such a bold thing.
Was she really the same Rachel White who blushed for a long time because of a kiss in the morning?
Ewan felt flattered and sat still for a long time. Then his hands trembled slightly and approached her back. His Adam’s apple bobbed. Finally, he put his hands on her back, and gently held her tightly. His voice became hoarse and magnetic as he whisper softly, “Rachel, what happened?”
“Ewan, I’m so exhausted.” Rachel pressed her head on his chest. She wanted to cry at the moment. Resisting her depression, she muttered, “I’m here to recharge my energy.”
Hearing her words, Ewan smiled knowingly, his face showing unprecedented sweetness and his eyes becoming gentle. He gently touched her back.
Was his adorable girl coming back soon?
The cheeky little fellow, who never knocked on his door, sneaked up on his bed, and couldn’t be driven away, had come back.
His big hand kept touching her hair very tenderly, stroking down from time to time. He slowly looked down at Rachel, who was closing her eyes. Her cheeks were slightly blushed.
The faint fragrance of her body teased his nose. Ewan smelt the freshness and guessed that she had just come from a bath.
She obviously came back home from outside just then, and she came to his room with the backpack. However, she had changed her outfits and emanated a scent of fragrant shower gel and shampoo.
“Where have you been?” Ewan asked in a soft tone.
Rachel didn’t respond but held him tighter and found a more comfortable position in his arms.
He didn’t ask again.
No matter where she had been, it was enough as long as she came back to him in the end and returned to his arms again.
Quietness blanked Ewan’s room. Rachel’s breath became subtle and steady, while Ewan’s breath became heavier and heavier. He was slowly aroused.
He also wanted to simply enjoy this sweet moment without doing anything. However, with his beloved beauty in his arms, would he still deserve to be a man if he weren’t impulsive?
