Chapter 8 Help

Book:The Surging Of Love Published:2024-5-1

Exiting the prison, Rachel White continued to sit quietly in Ewan Hills car.
She didn’t want to annoy him, so she tried to stay quiet.
Rachel pressed her forehead against the window and looked outside at the street view, watching the sun shine brightly.
Rachel’s heart sunk, like falling into a deep hole.
The car seemed to be running aimlessly and it seemed as if a century had already passed. Rachel felt like she was going crazy. She spoke slowly, “Ewan, We’re not going home?”
“Are you in a hurry to go back?” Ewan asked in a cold tone.
“Well.” Because she had no strength to speak, Rachel answered casually.
Ewan’s hands tightened on the steering wheel more forcefully, the blue veins in his hands were more obvious and his eyes had darkened.
They were once again sitting in silence.
Rachel raised her head and leaned back against her seat. She tilted her head and looked at the side of Ewan’s face, it was so delicate that she couldn’t extricate herself.
“Ewan, are you getting married next month?”
“Well.” Ewan uttered faintly.
“Will you invite me to be the bridesmaid?” When Rachel said this, her throat began to feel hot and bitter and his heart was flooded with tears.
Ewan was very clear and definite, “No.”
Rachel smiled bitterly, it was better this way. She was afraid that she would probably cry at their wedding.
“It doesn’t matter if you don’t invite me, but I still want to send you some gifts to congratulate you. What do you want the most?”
Ewan honked his horn impatiently. Rachel was startled and realized there was a couple in front of them in the middle of the road on a motorcycle.
The motorcycle flashed away, but Rachel obviously felt that Ewan was emitting a strange anger. For a moment, Ewan answered her question angrily, “You can’t afford what I want.”
His words left Rachel speechless.
Rachel was an ordinary white-collar worker, a month’s salary was just enough to support herself. She indeed was not qualified to ask such an important and rich person for what kind of gift he wanted.
She was silent.
Ewan’s anger was still burning inexplicably and the expression on his face twisted in an ugly way.
The car sped on the road, this time in the direction of the Hills house.
It was evening when they arrived at the house.
Ewan’s car came to a stop in the driveway in front of the path to the villa’s front door. Rachel opened the door to get out of the car. She took a few steps and noticed Sienna.
Sienna was dressed elegantly, looking as noble as a princess.
Sienna smiled, because she and Rachel met so often, their relationship was as close as sisters, so seeing one another was not a big surprise.
“Rachel, you are here too!” Sienna went up to Rachel.
Rachel forced a smile and made a sound in reply, “Hmm.”
Sienna walked directly by Rachel.
Ewan slammed the car door and Sienna suddenly rushed up to him. She hugged him tightly and buried her face in his chest, whispering in a coquettish voice, “Ewan, you’re finally back.”
Rachel slowly turned her head to look behind herself, but instantly regretted doing so. Rachel then walked away in a sensible manner, each step she took made a sound, which was the sound of her heart breaking.
Ewan frowned. motionlessly he stared down at Sienna whom was hugging him. His expression became colder, “Is that enough?”
Sienna quickly let go and stepped back. Looking around she found that Rachel had already left. She then awkwardly pushed back her hair and said, “We haven’t seen each other for a long time, so I was over excited.”
Ewan didn’t make a sound and walked past Sienna indifferently.
“Ewan, do you still remember your promise?”
Ewan came to a stop, his broad back was turned to Sienna.
Sienna continued, “You once promised me that if we both were not married before the age of 30, that you would marry me and not only that, but I had almost lost my life in order to save you. Although we are just good friends, we are most familiar with one another. The elders hope that we can be together, which is beneficial to the both of our family’s businesses…”
Ewan firmly interrupted, “Of course, what I said counts. You don’t need to remind me.”
Sienna smiled lightly, “Your Aunt Eve died not too long ago. We can’t have a big ceremony, we can only get a marriage certificate, but whether we have a wedding or not doesn’t matter.”
“Time is not up yet.” Ewan said coldly and walked towards the mansion with a steady pace.
Sienna clenched her fists, her fingernails dug into her palms and the expression on her face sunk.
Rachel went to her room in a daze and sat alone on the edge of the bed.
Perhaps her tears have already dried up or maybe her heart was already prepared.
Rachel’s head was blank, she didn’t think of anything or do, she just sat there quietly in a daze.
Knock Knock
The sound of knocking brought Rachel out of her daze.
She quickly went to open the door. What greeted her was smiling Sienna, “Rachel, I want to ask you for help.”
“Come in and sit down.” Rachel opened the door to let her in and forced herself to smile, “What can I do for you?”
Sienna sat down on Rachel’s bed, “Rachel, can you help me figure out where to spend my honeymoon? Ewan and I don’t plan to hold a ceremony but we still want to find a place to spend our honeymoon and take some wedding photos as a souvenir.”
Hearing this, Rachel froze halfway through closing the door and couldn’t move.
“I’ll be able to move in with you next month, when the time comes we will be a family.”
Rachel took a deep breath and slowly closed the door. At that moment, she felt breathless, but still pretended to be indifferent.
She turned towards Sienna and forced a smile, “You should find Ewan to discuss the honeymoon location.”
Sienna smiled happily, “He let me make the decision.”
Rachel sat down beside Sienna, and rested both hands on the bed, she looked down at the floor and whispered, “Then you can make the decision. I don’t know anything about these things.”
Sienna touched Rachel’s shoulder and asked with guilt, “I’ve been dating Ewan for many years now and never told you. Do you blame me?”
Rachel smiled bitterly and shook her head. The hair hung down, blocking her sad expression.
“Do you still like Ewan?” Sienna asked carefully.
Rachel slowly closed her eyes and said, “I haven’t liked him for a long time.”
Sienna touched Rachel’s hand and murmured in a guilty tone, “I’m sorry Rachel, love is an uncontrollable thing. Ewan has been chasing me for many years. I know you’ve liked him since you were a child, so I have refused him many times, but he is too persistent and there is nothing I can do.”
Rachel raised her head and pushed back her hair. Her forced smile was sad but she was still very cheerful, “Fool, why do you want to apologize to me? I don’t blame you. There are many girls who are secretly in love with Ewan. Don’t take it seriously. I’m nothing to him. Love is a two-way likeness, there is no such thing as first come first serve. I really have to let it go.”
In order to cover up her uneasiness and make Sienna stop blaming herself, Rachel casually found a reason to prevaricate, “I have a man that I like very much. Like Ewan, he is always away from home. A man that gives his life to the country and is always in danger. I really don’t like Ewan, you don’t need to worry about how I feel. I sincerely wish you both happiness.”
“Really?” Sienna asked with uncertainty.
Rachel nodded with a guilty heart and avoided her gaze.
“And who is the man you like?”
“I don’t have a date yet. I’ll let you know if I have one.”
Sienna coquettishly nudged Rachel’s shoulder, How can you not get a date? Just look at your devilish body and angelic face, I don’t believe there would be a man who wouldn’t like you.”
