“I…”
Twinkle took a step back subconsciously and turned around, not daring to look at Dawn’s eyes.
She didn’t want to see Dawn sad, but what she didn’t want to see even more was Patrick being given the cold shoulder.
“Dawn, uncle is not as weak as you think. His legs can still be treated.”
Dawn fell silent suddenly.
He already understood that the little girl started caring about that disabled man in these short few days.
Anymore will only result in the little girl making excuses and speaking well for that disabled.
He didn’t want to listen, nor did he want her to argue with himself for Patrick’s sake.
With a slight smile, he changed the topic. “Your parent should be back soon. Do you want to sit downstairs? I’ll watch the TV with you for a while!”
He walked out first, not waiting for her to agree or disagree.
At that moment, Twinkle couldn’t understand Dawn.
She stood still and stared at his back without blinking. “Dawn, don’t you have anything you want to say to me?”
For instance, what the Meng family and the Lees agreed on and what role he played.
It was about her marriage and he got his parents involved, yet he didn’t mention a word about it to her at all. Is Dawn supposed to be such a schemer?
Dawn turned around to look at her. “Did you want me to say something?”
Twinkle felt a little painful because of the look in his eyes, which showed inquiry and caution.
He shrugged harmlessly and smiled at her slightly, his eyes and movements were familiar like before. He walked towards her, stretched out his hand to hold hers, and headed downstairs. “Okay, don’t be so sullen, we have only been separated for a few days, yet you are so alienated from me now. I’m still your Dawn.”
The two went downstairs and turned on the TV. As a habit, Dawn handed the remote control to Twinkle.
She picked it up and before she had the chance to pick a channel, her phone rang.
She took a look and it was uncle’s number.
She subconsciously glanced at Dawn, but Dawn didn’t look at her at all; he watched TV while drinking coffee.
With a flick of her finger, she quickly put the phone to her ear. “Hey.”
“Twinkle! You bastard! Tell me clearly! About the gift you gave me – why is it a pair with the collar you gave Treasure?! They are a pair!”
Patrick’s hysterical roar almost pierced Twinkle’s eardrum.
She held the phone slightly away from her ear and until he stopped shouting. She frowned and said, “I just happened to see them and thought the men’s model suited you well! The women’s model suited Treasure! So, I bought them and gave them to you guys separately! What does this have to do with anything? What are you so angry about? Treasure is only a cat, a kitten. You are bothered by a kitten. Are you a man?!”
“Twinkle! Are you heartless?!”
“Okay! Stop with the nonsense! If there isn’t anything else you need, I’m hanging up!”
She ended the call with a speechless face.
When she bought the necklace, Donald was with and had obviously seen it. When she left the hotel early this morning, she gave the women’s model to Janet Jane. Without knowing in advance, Janet Jane smiled and said that the necklace was very suitable as a collar for cats and dogs.
She didn’t find anything wrong with it!
Can’t understand why uncle had to get mad!
Twinkle sighed and took the remote control to change the channel.
Dawn didn’t say a single word. No matter which channel she changed, he seemed to be watching seriously.
After a while, Mr. Simpson and his wife originally told the housekeeper that they wouldn’t be back tonight because of a dinner party. After hearing that Twinkle returned, they declined the invitation and rushed back to see their daughter immediately after work.
As soon as he entered the living room, Mr. Simpson said, “Twinkle!”
“Dad!”
Twinkle ran and plunged into Mr. Simpson’s arms. Mr. Simpson embraced her and spun her in circles like when she was young.
Mrs. Simpson also hurriedly took her hand and said, “Oh dear, let mother take a look. How were you these past few days?”
“Mom, I am fine. Patrick was good to me. He gave me the best food and the best clothes.” Twinkle squinted and smiled.
She held her mother with her left hand and her father with her right. She was like a happy little angel sandwiched between them.
Mr. Simpson immediately looked at the butler. “Is dinner ready?”
“Yes. It’s everything that young master and young mistress like to eat.”
“Okay, let’s go and eat first!”
At the table, before Twinkle even had the chance to pick up her chopsticks, Mr. Simpson and his wife and Dawn had already piled up the plate in front of.
She licked her lips happily and smiled flatteringly. “Home is the best! Children with parents are the happiest!”
Mrs. Simpson looked at her carefree daughter, and her eyes flashed and she rejoiced. “Speaking of this, it’s mom and dad’s fault thinking that after a few years of fake marriage, it will be fine if you divorced. But after all, this is about the happiness of your life. My dear, don’t be angry with us. Fortunately, this marriage no longer exists.”
“Yeah, thanks to Dawn’s father’s willingness to help this time. Our family is back to being happy.”
Mr. Simpson was also very emotional. After handing his daughter a bowl of soup, he took a seat. “Your mother kept crying when you weren’t at home. I couldn’t sit still either as I worried about whether you were eating and resting well. As parents, once you have a child, you can’t ever stop worrying.”
Twinkle’s nose was slightly sour. She looked at her parents and was deeply moved. “I don’t blame you guys. You guys also discussed with me when you came back. Mom and Dad, I am all fine now. Don’t feel bad.”
Dawn looked at her with a gaze that hinted something. “Yes, the unpleasant things are over. Twinkle, your parents love you so much, so you should cherish it. Don’t do anything to make them anxious and sad,” said Dawn.
Twinkle became flustered.
Should she temporarily keep quiet about the matter with uncle?
Twinkle’s thoughts drifted away from the dining table as she ate.
Mrs. Simpson proudly replied to Dawn. “Dawn, you can rest assured of this! Although Twinkle has been spoiled from a young age, she is filial to us! Since she was a child, she never did things that made me or Mr. Simpson upset! Our Twinkle is really beautiful, smart, cute, and sensible! There isn’t a second person like her in the entire world. You have good taste!”
Dawn also laughed. “What you said is right, Twinkle is indeed good. Even my parents often chatter that if I can marry her in the future, it would be the Meng family’s luck.”
