The only thing that made him happy was the fact Jenny was not dating Harold, on top of that she wanted to get away from him. That meant he still had chances to win her back.
His heart was filled with hate towards the kidnappers, he wished he was the one saving her. Now he decided that even if it meant going against his parents, he will go and get Jenny back.
James put the letter away and set off towards Harold’s.
“Sir, you cannot enter here.”
“Get off and let me in.” James was stopped by the gate guards.
“Sir, if you don’t leave, we will need to make you leave.”
“Harold! What the fuck are you locking up a woman for! Let’s take this outside, come on!”
“Sir, this way please.”
James hasn’t even finished cursing yet, when Harold stepped out of the house. “You are a fucking bastard, Harold!” James threw himself on Harold and started to beat him up.
“What’s wrong? You haven’t gotten enough that day in the hospital?” Harold was having his coffee in the hand, as if he didn’t care about the fist that just hit him. The guards pulled James to the side, sitting him down on a chair.
James realized that being over excited won’t do any good right now, and started to calm down a bit.
“Harold, I am here to take Jenny with me.” James said, dusting his clothes.
“Take with you? Who do you think you are to take her with you?” Harold walked around and sat opposite to James on the couch.
“She has always been mine!” James almost lost control again.
“Yours? Is that how you take care of your people? She was kidnapped and you didn’t even know? You are lucky she wasn’t hurt, otherwise I would kill you right now!” Harold’s eyes filled with anger, staring at James, whenever he was reminded of that day, there’s a mad fire lit in him.
“She was only kidnapped because of you! If she has never even met you, do you think she would ever suffer all of this? Get hurt and all?” James blurted out all the things he blamed on Harold.
Harold was startled for a second. He was asking himself if he really was the reason. His only intention was to protect her, but instead, he put so much pain upon her. His only intention was to get closer to her, but instead he was pushing her further.
Harold felt confused and didn’t want to keep listening to James anymore.
“Get him out.” With that he refused any further conversation, he didn’t even want to think about all of that anymore. It only made his heart pain and his head hurt. All he wanted to do was to keep Jenny by his side, right now it didn’t matter if she loved him or not.
“You think you can get her heart if you keep her locked like this? That’s never gonna be possible, just keep on dreaming! This is all you can do, to keep her body locked in your house, but you will never win her heart!” James was shouting while he was carried out by the guards. In that moment he looked at a maid behind Harold. No one ever thought that the friendly James, who treated everyone nicely, would explode like this.
James was unwilling to accept this situation, Jenny clearly wanted to get out of there, but Harold just wanted to own her like she was an object. James could only think about getting her home, not letting her feel this pain again.
Jenny sank on the floor, she had heard everything that just happened. She wanted to stop their fight, tell them her real emotions, that she wanted to get away… But she was locked in the room by Harold, it didn’t matter how hard she would bang on the doors, no one would dare to go and open it for her.
Jenny didn’t feel like fighting anymore, it was not worth it anymore, anything she tried only led to Harold locking another door in front of her.
Harold, who was still sitting on the couch, fell into his own thoughts after he heard what James said. Was he so unreasonable with Jenny, is that why she doesn’t like him anymore? Wanting to get away no matter what? Harold wanted to go upstairs to check on Jenny, but with every step he took , the pressure on him got heavier. When he opened the door, he knocked over Jenny, who was leaning against the door. Harold helped her get up again, but she didn’t.
He was just looking at her. Just watching her made him feel calm again, as if all the doubts have been erased.
Jenny wanted to fight with him, but when she raised her head to look in his eyes, she could see his love for her, and she wasn’t angry anymore. She turned around and wanted to leave.
Harold grabbed her hand, and pulled her into his arms, he thought that holding her was the best thing in the world. Jenny could be hitting his chest, kicking to get away, but it still made him happy to hold her.
Jenny had no chance to free herself, so she let herself be held. She didn’t talk either, there was even a second she wanted to hug him back, but she kept herself from doing it.
In the following days Jenny wouldn’t cry, wouldn’t fight, but she was also not eating. The only thing she was doing was staring at the door, whenever she got a chance she would try to run.
Harold had no other choice but to drop all his things and keep an eye himself, he took all his work home and was working from home now.
The table could be filled with all the delicacies anyone could think of, but Jenny was not taking one single bite. She was on a hunger strike. If you don’t let me go, I am not going to eat!
Melli was worried that Jenny will have health problems if she didn’t eat. She had no idea what to do with her.
“Miss, please just eat something. It is your body you are torturing right now, and you aren’t in a good condition at all. If you get sick, Mr. Quarrington will be so worried.”
Worried? If he was really worried, why wouldn’t he let me go? Why would he not just accept my wishes?
Jenny hadn’t eaten in two days, just the smell of food made her mind go crazy, but for her freedom, she would do anything.
Harold has tried a lot to make a deal with her, to get her to eat, but all Jenny wanted was to get away. He would never agree to that. It didn’t matter to him what it took, but he wanted to keep her with him forever.
Harold was looking at Jenny with his cold gaze, and grabbed her like he was grabbing a little chick, and threw her into his car.
“Where are you taking me?”
Harold didn’t even bother to answer her, and drove all the way to the nursing home.
When Jenny realized where they were, she was so happy! She was finally going to see her mom, she got away from that stupid house!
But when she walked into the ward, her heart dropped into her pants. Jenny’s mother was on a ventilator, her eyes shut. Her facial muscles moving due to the breathing. She looked unconscious, but as if she was in pain.
