The Xaviers typically go home at eight o’clock because of the evening rush hour. Both of them are currently busy at the supermarket.
However, when the lady who bumped into Nancy and Zack went to the supermarket, she saw the Xaviers at work.
“Mrs. Xavier, you’re not at home?”
Mrs. Xavier was weighing the fruits and replied with a laugh, “Madam, it’s the busiest during this period, I won’t have the time to go home.”
“I just bumped into Nancy bringing her boyfriend back and I thought that you were at home.” The lady said.
Mrs. Xavier could believe her ears, “What? Boyfriend? Are you sure you’re not mistaken? My Nancy just told me the other day that she doesn’t have a boyfriend, how can that be?”
“That young chap admitted that he was her boyfriend, his arms were around her and they seemed very intimate. I’m sure of it.”
Mrs. Xavier recalled Zack’s looks and continued to question, “Madam, that young man, is he tall and handsome?”
The lady nodded to Mrs. Xavier’s excitement. She snatched the calculator in dad’s hands and yelled, “Old man, our little Nancy has brought the man of her dreams home to meet us. Let’s go back immediately!”
Mr. Xavier slapped the table and stood up, “Really?! Let’s go home!”
The Xaviers sped home. As they entered the apartment, they saw a pair of man’s shoes. They exchanged looks in anticipation. He’s still here!
The stealthily entered the apartment and saw Zack’s shirt on the sofa. Hearing that someone was showering in the bathroom, they exchanged looks again and wondered if they should’ve come home.
As they pondered if they should continue to enter the apartment, Zack emerged from the kitchen with a glass of ginger tea.
The three exchanged looks and Zack who had been in many different situations was inevitably nervous. He placed the glass gently on the table, stood upright and with a gentle nod respectfully greeted the Xaviers, “Good evening, Mr. and Mrs. Xavier, I’m Zack Allen. I’m sorry I came unannounced.”
Dad reacted immediately, “Welcome, welcome… Zack, relax, we’re not so particular. You can come anytime you wish. Where’s our Nancy?”
Zack was indeed nervous and his palms started to sweat. “Eh… Nancy was slightly inconvenienced. As she was having a shower, I went to the kitchen to make a glass of ginger tea for her.”
Mom realized what was happening, “Oh, okay. That’s good.”
She didn’t expect her daughter to be able to land this talented young man so soon. That’s my girl! She thought proudly.
Seeing that she was pleased, Zack calmed down. Looks like they are satisfied with him, he thought as he exhaled in relief.
Thereafter, he picked up his shirt and said softly to the Xaviers, “Sir, Madam, I’ll take my leave. Please let Nancy drink the ginger tea. I’ll visit you again another day.”
Dad instantaneously stepped forward, grabbed his shirt and happily said, “No no no, Zack, it’s already time for dinner. Leave after dinner. Don’t stand on ceremony since you’re already my Nancy’s boyfriend.”
He turned towards Mrs. Xavier and instructed loudly, “Wife! Quickly prepare dinner, Zack’s staying for dinner!”
At this time Nancy who heard the commotion, came out of the bathroom. She saw dad’s left hand holding onto Zack’s shirt and right hand grabbing onto Zack’s elbow and thought that there was some misunderstanding between them.
She dashed between dad and Zack, “Dad! What are you doing?!”
