As soon as Hale and Mandy arrived at the lift lobby, the descending lift doors opened.
Zack leaned nonchalantly inside the lift, raised his eyes, and saw Hale and Mandy flirting happily. But Nancy was nowhere to be seen and he looked at them curiously.
Hale enters the lift and notices Zack’s look of disapproval. Pressing the close button, he said in defiance, “What are you looking at? A certain somebody is working overtime.”
Zack glared at him sternly, rushed forward, jabbed at the open button and the closing doors started to open again.
On seeing Zack exit the lift, Hale questioned, “Where are you going?” Of course Hale knew but he just wanted to irritate Zack.
Zack knew what Hale was up to. He turned around and on seeing Mandy clinging onto Hale, he said, “I forgot something. Why? You should hurry home. Mom told me that she wants to visit your fiancée together with you.”
True enough, the gleaming look on Mandy took a sudden and rapid change. Hale has a fiancée?!
Hale was furious. He almost dashed out the lift to give Zack a good beat down. But the doors had already closed. He turned to Mandy and explained, “Don’t listen to him! I’m an eligible bachelor! What wife? He is jealous of my looks and this pretty lady beside me!”
Mandy almost cried but held back her tears, “Really?”
Hale assured her and thought, why is he so nervous and anxious to explain to her? This is the first day they met, why is he so concerned about what she thinks of him?
But then Hale realized that he had been mesmerized by Mandy. This full bosom young girl with a lovely face that can impress everyone, has a specially charming for a young man like him.
Zack sneaked into Nancy’s office like a burglar. He looked through the glass panels and could see Nancy absorbed in her work. Naturally, Nancy was impervious to the warm attention that was now on her.
She only wants to quickly complete her tasks and go home. She is tired as a dog and so sleepy. In fact, she couldn’t sleep the previous night, anxious about her first day at work. She barely fell asleep in the early hours of the morning.
Night fell quickly and it was already nine o’clock by the time she was done. She felt her bones creak and mustered all her strength to stretch herself. She stood up, ensured that her work was saved on the computer, and prepared to leave.
The entire office was dark except the lights over her cubicle. She turned off the light and headed to the door. Suddenly, she heard the squeak of a chair. She froze in the dark office and recalled the horror movies she had seen. She yelled in fear, “Who’s that?!”
Her face was pale as if she had seen a ghost, she didn’t dare to move a muscle in the dead silence of the dark office. She braced herself and recited, “Love, Kindness, Forgiveness… I’m an atheist, I don’t believe in spirits. Give it up! You can’t frighten me!!”
At this moment, Nancy’s fear turned into reality. That “ghost” drifted to behind her. A hand firmed tapped on her shoulders. Nancy’s face was drained of whatever remaining blood and she screamed at the top of her lungs –
“Ahhhhhh!!!!!!”
