Kara turned her head and saw James standing under the street light. She stopped in surprise.
“What? Didn’t I come at the right time?”
He came to her in a few steps. When he approached her, she clearly felt that the air pressure around her had decreased by several degrees.
“What do you mean by not at the right time? James? It’s not what you think,” She quickly explained.
“What do I think?”
James sneered. He held her shoulders. He glanced at Eli sharply. His eyes were filled with coldness.
“Eli, I told you that she is my wife, not a woman you can love!”
Eli wasn’t angry. Instead, he revealed a faint smile that was somewhat provocative.
“James, don’t be nervous. I haven’t done anything yet. Are you deliberately emphasizing that you are afraid that I will take her away?”
“That’s ridiculous.”
James seemed to have heard a funny joke and let out a cold snort of contempt.
“You better not cause her any more trouble. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being impolite!”
“I’ll try my best, but I can’t say for sure about feelings. What if Kara finds out that you are too old and boring? She may feel that she has more topics to talk about with me,” Eli said aggressively.
Kara saw that James was so angry that his face turned green. He warned in a cold voice.
“Eli, I think you need to learn a lesson.”
James clenched his fists and wanted to beat him up.
Eli was not afraid either. He forced himself to hold back his fear and looked at James.
He knew that James was very good at martial arts. At worst, he would just be beaten up. Anyway, when he played with James as a kid, he was beaten many times.

“Kara Quain, are you protecting him?”
James angrily called her full name.

“James, where are you going?” Kara chased after him.
“Kara.”

Kara turned and looked at him.
“Eli, I’m sorry. This is between me and him. I appreciate your kindness, but it is not your fault. You don’t have to make things difficult for yourself.”
Seeing Kara run away, Eli froze.
Another gust of autumn wind blew, and the autumn leaves landed by his feet. They were bleak and cold.
Recalling her words, he could not help but let out a snort.
He was not stupid. He could understand many principles, but he could not control his feelings.
When he saw her in the crowd, his gaze unconsciously fell on her. Seeing her frown and smile was like an instinctive reaction in his body.
She asked him not to make things difficult for him, and he wanted to.

As he approached her, he could not control himself and wanted to talk to her.

At the school gate, Kara caught up with James and pulled his arm.
“James, don’t be angry. I apologize.”
James stared at her sarcastically. “You know that I will be angry, but you still want to do it. Kara, do you think that I am too fond of you and that’s why you can do whatever you want?”
Kara was shocked. She stared at him, and let go of his arm.
She calmed herself down, restrained her trembling voice.
“I did not do anything!”
“Since you feel that you are right, then why are you apologizing?” James mocked.
Pushing the car door open, he got in the car and slammed the door shut.
Kara was so scared that her shoulders trembled. He stared at the tightly closed car door in a daze.
Mason listened to the quarrel and looked at Kara. She was standing outside the car, with a pale face and a bit of worry.
He quickly got out of the car and opened the door for her while explaining.
“Miss Kara, don’t be angry. Mr. James is also worried about you. We have been here for a long time, but we haven’t seen you. So he gets angry.”
“Oh, thank you, Mason.”
After listening to Mason’s explanation, Kara let out a deep breath and did not want to quarrel with him.
She did not go to the back seat. Instead, she opened the door and sat in the passenger seat.
“Mason, I’m hungry. Let’s hurry home.”
Mason came back to his senses and glanced at James. Seeing James’ gloomy and cold face, he coughed and quickly got into the car.
It was quiet.
Mason couldn’t resist the chill of the man behind him. He glanced at Kara and asked with a smile.
“Miss Kara, you didn’t come out after school. Is there something wrong?”
“Well, I need to collect homework and hand it over to the teacher’s office, so it’s a little late.” Kara smiled and explained.
“Mason, try this.” She searched through her bag and found two candies.
“Miss Kara, why don’t you give it to Mr. James?”
At this time, Mason did not dare to take Kara’s things.
“Then forget it. He won’t eat it anyway.”
Kara opened the candy paper and put the sugar into his mouth. Then she closed her eyes to rest.
James froze.
James, who was in the passenger seat, got furious.
When they arrived at the villa, James went upstairs, not even giving Kara a glance.
Kara looked at his back and gritted her teeth. She didn’t intend to coax him. He turned around and went to the kitchen to learn how to cook from Libby.

Kara nodded.

She and Eli didn’t do anything, and if she explained, it would only make things worse. It was better to not say it.
What’s more, if he must think that something had happened between her and Eli, then her explanation was just a cover in front of him, making him even angrier.
“Mrs. Hemming, Mr. James asked me to prepare snacks and fruits for you every day. Also, your period is coming soon. He also asked me to buy you sanitary napkins. It seems that he loves you very much.” Libby put in a good word for James.
Kara’s long eyelashes trembled. She pursed her lips and didn’t speak for a long time.
During dinner, James didn’t go downstairs for a long time. Libby smiled and persuaded Kara.

She nodded and went upstairs to the study.
She quietly opened the door of the study and wanted to give him a surprise, but she heard him on the phone.
