People went back to the classroom again when the competition began.
Many students came to the large classroom to have some fun, so the classroom became crowded.
The competition also became an advertisement for Dustin’s dance team. To extends his influence, Dustin asked the president of the student union, the president of the press corps, and other somewhat celebrities to watch the competition.
Standing below the stage, Kara was too nervous to stop the sweat from running from her forehead.
“I’m scared,” Hazel said.
Hazel looked at the crowd sitting under the stage. Before she went on stage, her feet began to shake.
“Hazel, what dishes do you like to eat the most?” Eli suddenly asked.
Hazel looked at him in confusion.
“Well, you can treat those audiences as your favorite dishes. Anyway, they won’t bite you,” Eli said.
Eli glanced at Kara and wondered what else Eli’s interest was. After all, Eli was a foodie.
“Listen to Eli! Hazel, don’t worry! We are a team, and you are not alone!” Liz giggled.
Hazel didn’t say a word.
In the first round, Rita and her team came out first. It was Rita who was going to do the solo dance.
Rita danced so well as if she was already a professional dancer. Perhaps there was something to do with her experiences on the stage. She danced to jazz, which was enchanting and charming. As the rhythm of the music sped up, Rita looked even hotter as she danced to the music.
The boys below the stage cheered for Rita after seeing her dance. As their applause grew louder and louder, Hazel was even more nervous.
“No, I can’t do it,” Hazel shouted, wishing she could run away.
Hazel had never danced in front of so many people before. She was afraid that she would faint on the stage due to her nervousness.
Eli put her hands on her shoulders and looked at her blushed face solemnly.
“Hazel, we will go through many things in our lives, but it is still rare to fight against something with our friends. You have to believe us! Believe we will always support you. Don’t think about the result. All you need to think now is how to finish your dance,” Eli said.
Kara also felt nervous.
Her mind went blank, and she could hear nothing.
Not knowing what to say to comfort Hazel, Kara directly hugged Hazel, and both the two girls were shaking.
The music was so loud that their hearts uncontrollably beat with it.
“Hazel, you have never done this before. Give it a try! Enjoy it!” Kara said.
Feeling she was shaking even more violently, Hazel suddenly calmed down and looked at her.
“Yes, I will enjoy it,” Hazel said.
“Don’t worry, Hazel! It doesn’t matter if we lose the competition. We can avoid meeting Kara in the future,” Liz whispered in Hazel’s ear, grabbing her hand tight.
“Thank you!” Hazel said.
Hazel suddenly had a warm feeling in her heart.
When Hazel was little, she lost her voice because of a serious illness, which led to her dumbness.
Therefore, she had no friends in that period since people around her didn’t want to make friends with a dumb person.
However, after entering the university, Hazel made friends with Liz and Kara, who let her know how good it felt to have good friends.
Rita’s show brought up the fire in the audience, who shouted her name to the beat.
Someone even called Rita “Goddess!”
The hurrahs didn’t die down even after the host appeared on the stage.
The host patiently gave the audience a few minutes to calm down. The audience finally quieted down, and then it was Hazel’s turn to perform.
Hazel was quiet and reserved. She couldn’t jump and move passionately as Rita did, so she chose relatively sad music.
After seeing Rita and her intense solo dance, the audience found it difficult to calm down and listen to the music with a slow tempo.
When Hazel got on the stage, the windows were all closed. The light illuminating the center stage was also off. The classroom became so quiet that people even could hear the sound of footsteps.
Everyone was surprised, thinking Hazel would give up.
Just as everyone was puzzled, an old melody suddenly played out and filled the whole classroom, revealing a heartbroken sadness.
Everyone was looking forward to the show. Eli, dressed in a long gown, appeared on the stage. Suddenly, the dazzling light was on and fell on Eli, who looked handsome and tall.
“I am Romeo,” Eli said.
The shrieks of the girls rose above Eli’s husky voice.
Eli opened his arms and gestured for them to keep quiet.
“I promise Juliet to marry her, so I visited her parents today and asked their opinions. I was hopeful and excited until I got the bad news.
“Her family are adamantly opposed to the marriage. My heart is broken. Now, I want to see her for the last time before leaving her home.
“Juliet, here I came.
“Without bringing you a beautiful wedding dress and a wonderful coach, I probably have to break my promise,” Eli said.
All of a sudden, another light was on.
The light shone on a woman in the corner of the stage.
She had long black hair, and her back looked so attractive. Everyone would wonder how beautiful the woman would be even if they only saw her back.
Everyone knew the story between Romeo and Juliet. It was a sad story. As Eli was acting out dialogues, some girls even wanted to cry.
“Juliet, I know you must be crying. Don’t cry, okay?
“In the world, there are thousands of reasons to separate two people who love each other, but I don’t want to leave! I don’t want to let go of your hand!” Eli continued.
As soon as Eli finished those words, a piece of classical music immediately played. The slow, sad music reminded people of the heart-wrenching story between Romeo and Juliet.
The woman in the corner turned around with a tear-stained face. It was Hazel. She didn’t speak any word, but she expressed her love by dancing.
Hazel was thin, but her delicate body moved seamlessly to fit the music. Her movements were not the best, but she was good at conveying emotions.
Dustin was so surprised by the performance that he raised his eyebrows.
Eli knew their dancing skills were far less than Rita’s, so he took advantage of the music effect on the stage to move the audience.
Moreover, everyone felt sympathetic toward Romeo and Juliet.
That was also a great test of Hazel’s ability to express herself.
Watching Hazel dancing on the stage, Liz couldn’t help covering her mouth with her hands in surprise.
“Hazel told us she didn’t dance well. Oh my god, she lied. If she wasn’t good at dancing, then I could barely walk,” Liz said.
Kara coughed lightly because she even danced worse than Hazel did.
“Eli’s idea was brilliant. The sad love story can weaken people’s attention on Hazel’s dance. Thus, people will put more focus on Hazel’s expression of emotions. It is indeed the best trick to win the competition,” Liz said in a voice full of admiration.
“Well, well… Though we don’t dance as well as they do, we can use our brains,” Kara said joyfully, content with the idea she thought of with Eli.
No matter how bad Hazel danced, she had a style totally different from Rita’s, so it was not easy for the judges to tell who was better.
At the peak of Hazel’s emotional outburst, Eli suddenly turned around and hugged Hazel tightly.
“Juliet, wait for me! I’ll find you.
“I swear that I won’t marry anyone except you for the rest of my life!” Eli shouted.
Then Eli immediately turned around and walked down the stage, however unwilling he showed.
Hazel went to chase after him, but she fell. No matter how painful it was, she wanted to grab Eli even if she had to crawl.
At the same time, two boys standing at the edge of the stage stopped her from chasing Eli.
She could only turn around, lost in thought.
“Juliet, here is some news about Romeo. He, he is dead!” someone said.
Suddenly, thunder sounded in the classroom. Juliet, heartbroken, sat down on the table feebly.
“Romeo, I’ll go to find you. Are you happy to hear that?” Hazel said.
