Chapter 367 Let Me Comfort You

Book:Uncle's Love: My Sweet Little Wife Published:2024-5-29

Kara suddenly had this bad intention and owed it to James.
In the past, James had told Kara that he was her man. If someone coveted him and she wanted to protect him, she could not be lenient.
Kara did not have other tricks up her sleeve, and tripping Madelyn was actually a lenient move.
When Keely saw Madelyn still crying, Keely felt embarrassed. Keely went over, helped her up, and told her to stop crying.
“Keely, I’m sorry. I caused trouble for you. I didn’t know that Kara is a difficult person.”
Hearing the blame, Kara gritted her teeth in frustration.
Kara should have stepped on her just now. If Madelyn had not provoked James on purpose, James would not have lost his temper during the meal.
James had a bad temper but he never threw a tantrum at will. Even if he hated Keely, he had planned to chat with her privately after the meal instead of ruining the convivial atmosphere.
“Alright, stop crying. Madelyn, you are a good girl. It’s my fault. I failed to protect you.”
Keely sounded sad. “Since they don’t want us to be here, I’ll take you away now!” She was patting Madelyn to comfort her.
“Keely, don’t go.” Quentin stood in Keely’s way.
“I can’t feel any self-esteem at all. Why do I stay here? I’m done with being bullied by you guys.”
Keely was bluffing. Quentin pulled her and she stopped.
She was acting like this because she wanted Quentin to give her an explanation.
James went too far. Keely couldn’t just let James off.
“Keely, don’t be mad. I will ask James to apologize to you.” Quentin promised.
Quentin’s promise made Kara scorn him.
Back then, when Keely knew that Vivian gave birth to a child, she must have pretended to be angry like now. And Quentin would compromise.
It was ridiculous. James only said a few harsh words and Keely acted like she was being bullied by him.
Why didn’t Keely find herself a cruel woman when she sterilized Vivian back then?
Quentin turned around and looked at James with a frown.
“It’s the Mid-Autumn Festival. James, can you not upset everyone just for one day? Come on and apologize to your mother. If you feel angry, take out on me.”
James looked down, expressionless.
Kara couldn’t stand it anymore. As a father, Quentin shouldn’t have made such an irrational demand for his son because of his wife.
“Quentin, do you know what day it was yesterday?”
Kara’s sudden question irritated Quentin. He thought about it but couldn’t figure it out.
“What day was it?”
“Yesterday was James’ mother’s death anniversary. I know you don’t know it, but you owe her a lot,” Kara said in a cold voice.
Kara just made things more difficult for Quentin by lecturing him. He was embarrassed and furious.
“Kara, mind your own business!”
Kara knew her place in the Hemming family and was supposed to keep her head down. However, she just crossed the line and made her father-in-law hate her.
But what should she do? She just couldn’t watch others bully James.
“My business is to protect my man. Why don’t you blame her for being so rude to James instead of pushing all the blame onto James? She threatened to leave the family just because of James’ harsh words.
“Quentin, you’ve criticized James for no reason.
“Why can’t I defend him?
“Don’t accuse me of having no respect for you. Respect is a mutual thing,” Kara said firmly.
She was undaunted, looking straight into Quentin’s eyes.
James turned his head and stared at the woman beside him. Kara’s first sentence was enough to move him.
James was her man.
He didn’t dote on her for nothing!
The others were very surprised. The seemingly delicate girl had the nerve to talk back to Quentin.
Was this a reckless or intentional action?
‘Well, as expected of a woman by James’ side. Your tone was as annoying as his,’ Quentin thought.
Quentin went livid and Keely looked upset.
“James, this is intolerable. I can’t believe that’s the woman you love. She doesn’t respect your parents and has abused her mother-in-law. The Hemming family can’t accept her.”
James sneered. “I don’t care how you feel. I’ll stay with her.”
Quentin was stunned.
“Alright, stop. So many things have happened during the meal. I’m too old to stand the bickering. It’s giving me a headache.” Zoey tried to mediate.
“That’s right. It’s not a big deal. Keely, you shouldn’t have taken young people’s words to heart. It’s the first time that Madelyn has come here, and she must be scared out of her wits…”
Marcos echoed Zoey’s opinion.
Quentin didn’t want the situation to get worse. He pulled Keely’s hand and gestured for her to sit back down and then softly comforted Madelyn, wanting to end the conflict.
However, things didn’t go as he expected.
Perhaps, Vivian was not important to them, while she meant a lot to James. Vivian took care of him throughout his childhood.
Would James spare those people who had taken Vivian away from him and caused nightmares for him?
No way!
James worked so hard and put all his energy into work because he wanted revenge.
He held Kara’s hand and swept his eyes over the others indifferently.
“Kara is right. My mother couldn’t make those in her debt pay back then. I will do it for her.”
Quentin stared at him in shock.
To hide his guilty conscience, Quentin painstakingly persuaded James.
“James, she’s been dead for many years. What’s the point of pursuing this?”
When Zoey heard what James had said, her face darkened.
“James, didn’t I tell you not to bring her up again?”
James laughed. It sounded like a roar, which rattled the others.
“Grandma, no matter what your purpose was, you have to pay back the debt you owe!”
“James, you have gone too far. How dare you talk to me like this! Do you think I can’t do anything to you just because the SA Group is in your hands?”
Zoey was enraged by his sarcastic tone.
“I’ll wait and see.”
James couldn’t put up with them and left with Kara.
Zoey turned purple with rage. She covered her chest in pain, pointed at James, and wanted to stop him.
However, she collapsed on the table before she could say anything.
“Mom!” “Grandma!” The others called out.
The Hemming family fell into chaos because Zoey fainted.
Marcos saw this conflict as a good show. He and Gracie looked at each other.
They would benefit from this conflict.
Kara followed James out of the Hemming’s. When she got into the car, she couldn’t help staring at her wrist because James was clutching it and it hurt. Kara held back her words.
Kara hoped this would alleviate some of his pain and would stay with him.
The afternoon sun shone on his side face but the look in his eyes was still cold and sorrowful.
Kara felt distressed and touched his side face.
“James, let me comfort you, okay?”
James turned to look at her. Hearing her soft and sweet voice, he raised his eyebrows.
“Is it the same trick as last night? I’m okay with it if you can withstand it.”
