Love birds

Is it the moment?
Is he going to kiss me?
But I’m not ready yet…
Just as I felt him so close to me, a voice interrupted us.
“Snowwy!” We jolted in surprise and Luke and I broke apart from each other. With my flushed cheeks, I diverted my gaze to the ground.
“Snowwy?” Asked Nathan in front of us, confused. I forced myself to raise my chin and looked at my brother, smiling.
“There’s ice cream over there!” He exclaimed excitedly.
“Yup! Buy us some ice cream!” Agreed Caleb.
I just look at Luke questioningly, asking if he’ll agree to their request.
He shrugged and broke into a grin. “Sure! Let’s go!” He said as if nothing happened. Like the almost-kiss didn’t happen.
We stood up and followed them. “Where is it?” I asked. “Over there!” They both pointed their hands at a far corner of the park, a vendor selling ice cream.
“What do you want, kids?” Asked Luke when we reached the vendor.
“I want vanilla!” Nathan answered happily.
“Mine is Strawberry! Like Eion’s favorite!” Caleb exclaimed, bringing up Eion’s name.
“Okay, calm down… Geez, you kids will bankrupt me.” Luke said dramatically, humor lacing in his voice and I laughed at him. We said our flavors to the vendors and waited for it. I bought a bar of simple chocolate while Luke’s order was vanilla.
“Thank you!” Nathan and Caleb said to the vendor.
“You’re welcome, kids!” The vendor replied once he gave us our orders. He turned and looked at Luke and I. “Your kids are cute, sir and ma’am.”
I almost choked at my own spit. Our kids? “Oh, we’re not… I’m not… That’s my brother and that’s he’s cousin… We’re so young to have one…” I replied awkwardly. Luke was wiggling his eyebrows, enjoying the moment.
“Oh, I thought… Anyways. Have a good day love birds!” He said and served another customer.
We walked back to a bench where we could sit down and eat our ice cream comfortably. Luke was still laughing at this point. “What?” I asked, quite annoyed.
“Your expression…. it was hilarious!” He said, still not over what the vendor told us.
“Haha, very funny. I was just taken aback at what he said.” I reasoned out, and suddenly, a plan formed in my head.
“So, my face was hilarious eh? Okay… I won’t agree to be your girlfriend then…” I trailed off. Hearing this sentence, Luke stopped laughing.
“What did you say?” He asked.
“Oooohh… Nothing… Just me not approving to be your girlfriend. In short, reject you.” I said casually, like it wasn’t a big deal, licking my ice cream in the process.
“You can’t do that…” He replied proudly.
“Yes, I can….” I said in a singsong tone. But in reality, I won’t reject him.
“I know you love me. You won’t break my heart into a million pieces.” He said seriously.
“What if I will? Give me a reason why you think I love you.”
“Well… For one, I am awesome. Two, I am fantastic. And three, I am amazing.” He said proudly.
“Ewww.” I scrunch my nose in disgust.
“Admit it.” He smirked.
“No, I won’t because you aren’t,” I said, still not backing down.
“Oh c’mon!”
“Na-ah.”
“Yes, you will.” A grin plastered on his face. An evil grin… Wait…
Smack.
It was too late. He was fast as lightning. I had no time to dodge the melted ice cream he threw in my way and landed on my hair. The greasy feeling made its way around me. I heaved an irritated sigh, clenching my teeth before closing my eyes.
“You idiot!” I shouted.
“Sshh… Don’t say bad words! The kids will hear it, right kids?” The idiot covered the ears of Nathan and Caleb, using them against me.
They just laugh at my state and my blood boils up in annoyance.
“Arrghh!” And with that, I dipped my ice cream in his way, making it slam in his face. Luke stopped laughing while the kids continued chuckling. I smirked in victory.
“You’ll pay for this!” Luke growled, standing up and walking towards me now.
“Luke no,” I said calmly.
“Oh yes.” He grinded and ran towards me. Good thing I was quick and ran. Well, for the first time.
“Go Snowwy!”
“Go Luke!”
I heard Nathan and Luke cheering from behind us. I glanced behind me, Luke was in the distance so I stuck my tongue out at him while running. I didn’t stop, still running when I stopped.
Bump.
I wasn’t checking in front of me that I bumped into a wall. A person rather.
“Oh sorry.” I apologized and looked in front of me. My eyes widened, wearing a red shirt and pants stood a green-eyed boy and his black hair. I blinked at him. “Eion?” I spoke up, confirming if it was him. What a coincidence. At the sound of my voice, he looked at me.
“Oh, you.” He said in a harsh voice. Wow, guess he’s in a bad mood again.
And with that, he turned around and walked away without another word. I glared at his back, he’s back to being rude. Luke came behind me, then noticed Eion. “Hey bro!”
Eion turned around hearing this. He nodded in Luke’s direction, expressionless.
“What are you doing here?” Luke curiously asked.
“Just chilling… What about you?” Eion answered.
“Just hanging out with Snow,” Luke replied, grinning ear to ear. His hands were on my shoulders, giving me a side hug. I stiffened, feeling it a bit strange but liking it.
Eion glanced at Luke’s hands on my shoulders and said, “Okay. Good.”
“Oh, why not hang with us Eion? Since you’re here already? It would be fun!” invited Luke to his cousin, but Eion shook his head.
“No, I have things to do. Enjoy yourselves. Bye,” He said, and with that, he walked away from us.
