EPISODE THIRTY EIGHT
THEME: Fate or Coincidence?
MOON STONE FORTRESS
Lorelei stretched her leg against the pole as she cussed out badly. She only comes out to jog whenever she was pissed at something, and on such days she could run miles away from home just to cool off. Her mood had been perfectly fine as she was returning from work feeling drained from the day’s work.
Driving slowly, she had opened up all her car windows just to enjoy the cool breeze it provided. Beautiful nights with a comforting breeze were a bit hard to come by in Moon Stone Fortress. She was almost close to home and had driven past the gym Sebastian and Jayden usually frequent. Only for her to see Jayden almost dipping his face in a lady’s boobs.
Lorelei shouldn’t be mad but she couldn’t help it. Even though she denies it almost every chance she got that she has a crush on Jayden. Seeing him with other women always arose some pitiful annoyance in her.
Mumbling her greetings to her parents and brother who had been dumped by Jayden in a bid to impress the bitch he obviously would dispose of soon. She slammed the door to her room and threw herself into the bed. When she couldn’t help the annoyance she felt, she had resulted to jogging instead. The effect wasn’t kicking in yet and it made her more angry.
Lorelei was still contemplating on going to get an ice cream and stuff her face with it, when she heard the familiar voice behind her.
“Mind if I join you?”
Turning her head around swiftly, she saw Jaylen with a bright smile on his face. His smile is so contagious that she couldn’t help but smile too.
“Hey, you are here.” She puffed out.
“Yes, I am and I wasn’t expecting to see you. Weren’t you at work just this evening?” Jaylen asked, his eyes trying hard to stay glued to her face and not roam through her sexy body.
Lorelei chuckled lightly. “Well, I just thought to burn some stress out. Why are you out?” She asked.
Jaylen shrugged. “To do the same thing just as you. I needed to get out of the house.”
Putting her leg down and stretching a bit. “Care to share?”
“Damn!” Jaylen mumbled with his nose. Lorelei stretching her body only made his thoughts go haywire. “You sure you won’t get bored?”
“I could try.” She laughed.
“Since you are a bit close to the family, I guess you would know about Jayden and I beef.”
“Oh that, sorry to cut you short. But Claire already told I and Hermione all about it in a conference call.”
“Really?” He sounded pained.
Lorelei chuckled. “Trust Claire to spill the tea whenever she can.”
Jayden dipped his hands further into his pants pocket. “You still intend to jog? I was thinking of trying out Santo’s tacos down the street.”
“You eat Santo’s tacos?” Lorelei sounded surprised
“I had been on that tacos like it is a daily pill when I was still here. I checked the Google map and was extremely glad he still maintained his spot by the roadside.”
“His tacos is out of this world.”
“You can say that again.” Jaylen laughed. “So do you mind?”
“I really don’t since you are paying.” Lorelei answered.
Jaylen raised a brow. “Oh I see what this is about.”
“You almost missed it.” She teased. And both of them laughed heartily.
“Let’s go then. Should we just jog all the way?” Jaylen asked.
Lorelei nodded her head in disapproval, she was tired already and the main reason she had been pissed had dissipated on his arrival.
“We should just make it a lengthy walk and enjoy the night.” She added.
Jaylen stared around, his wolf purring at how nice it would be to have an actual run in the woods. But it had been too long and he could almost say he was beginning to forget how to shift.
“Sure, whichever way you want it.” He responded.
They both fell into the same walking pace and headed towards their intended destination. Jaylen searched his head for something to say. Aside talking to his business partners, he didn’t really know much about starting a conversation with a lady. Coupled with the fact he has taken a different liking to her so he didn’t want to say something he might regret.
One of the reasons he wanted to inform Rosalyn first was to enable her share some tips that would go a long way to help him.
Lorelei could notice his hesitance, she knew how men acted in her presence and knows exactly if he is being uncertain on what he is to say or isn’t just interested in talking. And judging by Jaylen’s stance, he definitely wanted to say something but looks quite uncertain about it.
“Is something wrong?” She queried.
Jaylen chuckled nervously, trying to hide his anxiety. “Nothing is wrong. But the truth is I am not so conversant with the female counterpart.”
Lorelei hummed in sarcasm. “And you expect me to believe that?”
He had almost argued against it, until he remembered that his brother is a man whore and no one would believe him when he claims to not be vested in women deals. Moreover, he didn’t like to prove himself to anyone, but somehow he wanted Lorelei to see him differently.
“Do you have a girlfriend?” She crashed into his train of thought.
Jaylen almost coughed his lungs out. “What? Girlfriend?”
Amusement spread through Lorelei’s face. “You have never heard of the word? Why are you acting like an alien?”
Jaylen laughed lightly. “You are something else Lorelei. I wasn’t expecting the question, it just came out of nowhere. What were you thinking?”
“I just couldn’t help it, your brother is known to love everything with a hole. But you seem a bit more reserved, so maybe you might be engaged or something.”
“Well, I’m not. And I don’t have a girlfriend. My work takes up much of my time.” Jaylen answered.
“Why do I find that hard to believe?”
“Cause you are an unbeliever.” He teased.
“Finally!” Lorelei mused in relief, when she sighted the truck they were heading to.
To their advantage, there was only a few people around the truck relishing the goodness of Santo’s tacos.
Leaping her way through the truck, Jaylen followed behind with a smirk in his face.
