EPISODE THIRTY TWO
THEME: Memories
MOON STONE FORTRESS
IN THE PACK HOUSE
Stepping out of the dungeon into the daylight, he kissed his teeth in annoyance. Jayden still couldn’t believe his father would keep him locked up till the day break. And now he asked for him to be brought over-the advantage of being an alpha.
Jayden couldn’t wait to get back to the pack house, get a good bath and some fuck before the intended dinner. He hated that he had to do so, but his mother’s happiness mattered to him.
And in the actual sense, he and Jaylen aren’t exactly sworn enemies, they could get on with themselves just fine. But that would be possible if none of them crosses their boundary.
To make peace reign and for the ease of his inauguration he would let sleeping dogs lie. And possibly try to get to know his brother more.
There were only alike in terms of look, not in their attitudes and it had always been a big problem for him. There was this aura Jaylen possessed that just makes him go mad. But they were grown now and he knows just how much he is worth.
Stepping into the pack house, he tried to sense the presence in the house. But he couldn’t get Jaylen’s smell, which meant he wasn’t in the house.
Clearing his throat he looked towards the guards standing next to him. “Where is everyone?”
“Master Jaylen and miss Claire stepped out a while ago. Madam Gabriella went shopping.” The guard replied with his head bowed in respect.
Not saying anything more, he moved towards the stairs heading to meet his parents chambers. When Jayden opened the door he saw the both of them seated together. His father was looking pale as ever.
“I am expecting a thank you.” Carl said on sighting him.
Jayden tried not to scoff. “I just like got here a second ago and-”
Meagan cut him off with a stern look. Jayden cleared his throat he stood upright. “Thanks Dad.”
“I have nothing against you, Jayden. I just want you to accept your brother. He is your brother.”
Carl sounded exhausted. He couldn’t understand what all the ruckus was about. It is said that brothers are the closest but his own sons act extremely different. His worries keep mounting everyday as he got weaker. He was scare of how much they would get at each other when he is gone. Most especially Jayden, he hopes strongly that the case would be different and he would accept the situation of things.
“Don’t try to cause anymore trouble with your brother.” Carl added.
Jayden looked away and huffed. “Why would you all blame me every time?”
“No one is blaming you. We are just tired of your consistent unending argument. Why are you so angry at him?” Carl asked again, looking at Meagan for help.
Still not looking towards his parents, Jayden looked away not having any explanation to the question his father is asking. How was he suppose to tell them that he saw his brother as a competition? He knew his insecurities were petty, but he couldn’t just help the feeling he gets whenever he sights or thinks of his brother.
“I need you both to work together.” Carl said. “Be together as one for when I am gone I need you to give your mother rest.”
“Yes dad.” Jayden murmured in response.
Meagan watched the father and son duo as they both got lost in thought. She wished Carl wasn’t going through what he was at the moment. They could have found a way to make their sons come to a mutual understanding.
“I will take my leave now.” Jayden announced as he turned towards the door.
“Dinner is by seven.” Meagan called after him.
Grumbling a response, Jayden went out.
Carl sighed deeply with heart constricting at how messed up it all seems. He turned to Meagan with a faint smile on his pale lips. “Do you remember when they took their first walk?” He asked her.
Meagan smiled at the memory. Jaylen had been the first to make an attempt at walking, the both of them were so cute with their growth. Jayden would pull at Jaylen’s leg, while crawling super fast to ensure he doesn’t move ahead of him. The laughter that erupted from their small throats was always beautiful. It was almost like a game between the both of them. Jaylen trying to run off on his tiny legs, and Jayden running after him on all his four limbs. They were both very fond and protective of each other. When they did eventually become toddlers and both of them could walk on their own, all they did was race each other and laugh heartily.
“The both of them were such an happy bunch.” Meagan noted.
Carl inhaled. “I wish they would pull at each other playfully again.”
“If fate made them this way, I am sure fate would bring them back together as loving brothers.”
“Wow, look who has become philosophical.”
“Carl!” She cooed and laughed.
He joined in the laughter, holding onto his aching chest. “I would cherish these moments till the very end.”
Tears formed in Meagan’s eyes. “Carl…” Her voice broke off.
“As hard as it might seem. Thanks for the happy times and loving moments.”
Meagan held onto his hands. “I need you to know this Carl, that I have never had any regrets in this relationship. I love you baby.” She kissed thee locked hands.
“I love you too sweetie.” He kissed her forehead.
Carl pulled her into his weak side and she leaned into him inhaling his smell.
“I will never get over this smell. Always intoxicating me.” She giggled lightly.
“You have always been smitten by me.” Carl teased.
She tapped on his chest lightly. “And you have always been so full of yourself.”
Carl laughed. “I try my best baby. I love you so very much.”
“And I love you too.”
Both of them stayed quiet enjoying the moment, not knowing when exactly it would end. It had been a while since they took time to stay together and enjoy the serenity of their togetherness.
Meagan hoped life would play out differently and give them a chance to live happily. Her sons were the most of her worry. Jayden was a handful with his attitude and he hardly took any advice from anyone. She had a feeling he took after one of her brothers with his consistent insistence on doing whatever he wants.
“Don’t worry about them, it will all be sorted.” Carl assured her, as if reading her thought.
“I hope so, I really do hope so.” She muttered.
