EPISODE SIXTEEN
THEME: Main reason
MOON STONE GROUP
Jaylen frowned at his computer screen, his brain hardly reading meaning to whatever he was staring at. For days he had been working like a zombie and adding little to the internal meetings the company has been having.
This were moments he felt thankful towards Rosalyn for always being able to read the room and knowing just about what to do. If there was a need to meet with international investors, it would have been a big mess with the way his head stayed unsettled.
“Hey you.” Rosalyn called out from the door as she smiled widely at him.
Jaylen smiled back. Rosalyn looked really beautiful in the brown prim suit she had on and with her hair bundled up in a neat bun. Over the years they had been together, he had tried seeing her differently from who she really was to him; a business expert and trusted friend. However, he couldn’t love anyone when he doesn’t seem to love himself.
His grandma had tried pushing so many girls to him by joining a church program. Jaylen let out a small chuckle at how crazy his granny was to have gone that far.
“Something is funny?” Rosalyn asked, her bright smile matching her outfit as she sat in front of him.
“Nothing. Just remembered something silly my granny had done.”
Rosalyn laughed at his words. “Isn’t Gab known for indulging in things like that?”
“She humors me every time.” Jaylen replied, sounding distracted as he tried to keep his eyes glued on the computer screen again.
Rosalyn could tell a whole lot of stuff was weighing on him that was certainly different from the situation he was trying to escape from the other day.
Jaylen tries to mask his emotions well, but he failed at it whenever it has begun to spread all over him. It affects his agility and performance at work and the way he keeps to himself would make anyone wonder what was eating him up.
“Stop trying to read me so hard.” He noted, still not taking his eyes off the screen
“If you don’t want me to read you then you can at least share what’s on your mind.” Rosalyn threw back at him.
“Sometimes, I hate how it is easy for you and Gran to read me so well.” He said.
“We love you and that’s why we can’t help but notice your discomfort.”
“I know, but sometimes you both treat me like a child. I’m a full grown adult.”
“No one says you are not.” She retorted.
“So, what then?”
Rosalyn sighed. “No no matter how strong and independent one is, you would always need someone or some people to lean on. It’s all for your own good because you can’t carry your burdens all alone. There has to be a person caring enough to want to be by your side in your times of trouble.”
“Hmmm, wow.” Jaylen teased, mimicking an audience noise and clapping his hands. “That was amazing, I never knew you did talkshows.”
“If you weren’t my boss, I would have stoned you out.” She chuckled.
“Well I am glad that I am the boss then.” He grinned.
They both laughed for a few seconds.
“You can talk to me. I still have some free time.” Rosalyn offered, checking her wristwatch.
Jaylen sighed as he moved away from the computer. “I might bore you.”
“Why don’t you try me out?”
Jaylen exhaled out loud as he sat up. “Fine. You do know how it is between my immediate family and I?”
“Yes I do.” Rosalyn nodded.
“Well, my mom did talk to me and asked for me to come home saying my father is dying. I already made up my mind though; I ain’t going nowhere.”
“If you have made up your mind, you shouldn’t be bothered then.” Rosalyn pushed, playing reverse psychology on him.
Jaylen banged his hands on the table. “Now that’s where the problem lies. I keep telling myself the truth that my presence isn’t needed and they might be trying to lure me over. But this treacherous heart of mine keeps aching to go back, considering if my father is really sick and I won’t forgive myself if he dies without me seeing him.” He did look disturbed and confused.
“What is your treacherous heart asking you to do?” Rosalyn asked making emphasis on the word treacherous.
Jaylen looked so innocent that he would make anyone cry.
“It says to go home. I miss them Rosalyn. I want to see my mom so bad. Am I pathetic for wanting them after everything?” He rubbed his temples SOXTY.
Rosalyn smiled sweetly. “No it shows how awesome of a person you are. How loving and forgiving your heart is.”
“How about Jayden?” He finally let it out. The main reason he was skeptical about going home was because of his twin brother. Not because he was actually scared of him, but he doesn’t want to be in a brawl with him yet again.
“And what about Jayden?” Rosalyn asked
“I doubt he would be happy about it.”
“You and Jayden have different paths, and it’s glaring already. I doubt he would be angry but rather proud of you. And you both can bury the hatchet.”
“Are you sure about this Rosa?”
Rosalyn felt a some warmth cover her as he called her by the shortened name. It wasn’t suppose to cause any reaction, but it always did when he does so.
“I am not sure Jaylen, but I do know you would never find out if you stayed glued here without doing anything and only second guessing.”
Jaylen thought on what Rosalyn said, she was right. As much as there was a clause to his return, if he made no attempt to return home there was no way he would be able to forgive his family, embrace himself totally and move on.
It was just about time he face his fear, maybe he was holding himself back too much and he needs some closure.
“You don’t need to think it through too much. Trying hard to figure it out will only exhaust you.” Rosalyn interrupted his train of thought.
“I guess I am left with no option then.”
“Yes, also trust me to take care of the business while you are gone.”
“I always trust you Rosa.” Stretching out his hand, he held hers. “I really appreciate your kindness.”
“You are always welcome.”
“One thing please.” He added quickly.
“What do you need?” Rosalyn asked.
“Can you help prepare my private jet?”
Rosalyn gave him a wide smile. “Sure. At your service sir.”
