CHAPTER TWENTY TWO
CAMILLE’S POV :
When he said go, I was so shocked and blinked my eyes more than I could count.
“I don’t understand, go where?” I asked.
“Go back home, leave the dungeon or would you rather I let you rot here” he spat obviously annoyed by all my questions.
I was still staring at him as he sighed and started walking out.
“I see you have gotten used to this place so feel free to stay” he stated as he was leaving the room , but I rushed out before he could lock it back up.
The guards snickered at my behavior.
“Oh I see you have wings too , seeing as you almost flew out” he chuckled. A real one, I wonder what’s wrong with him today that his chuckling everywhere.
Scoffing I turned around , not uttering a word back to him.
Unfortunately he heard the sound I made and growled , making me apologise quickly. Well that wasn’t a surprise. He gave the key to the guards as we left the place.
“Let’s go” he said. Gosh I’ve been in there longer than I expected.
As I stepped into the sunlight, I was momentarily blinded by the glare. I squinted and looked around, taking in the sights and sounds of the outside world for the first time in a like eternity. I couldn’t believe how much I had missed the simple things, like the feel of the grass beneath my feet and the sound of birds singing in the trees.
Even though I wasn’t allowed to go out much , the little I could was enough to miss all this beautiful sights.
The dungeon was a dark and foreboding place, located deep within the foundations of the house. It was a vast, underground chamber that stretched out in all directions, with rough stone walls and a low, arched ceiling.
The dungeon was connected to the house through a series of winding staircases and hidden passageways, which made it easy for the inhabitants of the house to access the underground chamber.
However, the dungeon was also connected to the outside world through a series of tunnels and secret exits, which allowed those who knew the way to come and go as they pleased. But instead of us following the inside route, we went through the one that led outside and I was glad because I loved the smell of nature and loved to be outside once more.
It was a joyful and i had been away for quite some time or days or week, I didn’t even count and I had kinda missed here too, even though I didn’t have much friends , I had Miss Clara and as soon as I saw her walking towards the door when we got in, I couldn’t help but call out to her and break into a huge smile and rushing over to embrace her, forgetting that someone was with me.
This woman had always been like a second mother to me, always there to provide love and support whenever I needed it. She had helped me through some of the toughest times in my life, and I was grateful to see her once more and reduce her worries.
As we hugged, I could feel the love and warmth radiating from this woman who had taken care of me. I knew that she had always been there for me as much as she could, even though she had her own daughter who also cared for me as well, and I was grateful to have such kind and caring people in my life.
As we hugged each other tightly, forgetting that someone was waiting for us. We heard the Alpha clear his throat loudly. We both turned to look at him, still clinging onto each other.
“I hate to interrupt this emotional moment,” the alpha began, “but you both still have work to do. We can’t just stand around hugging all day, I know you just got back Camille but your going to go up to your room , get yourself ready and off to chores”. He ordered and left.
We reluctantly let go of each other as Miss Clara turned to go back to her cooking and kitchen duties. As I was about to leave for my room she called me.
I turned around to see that she was giving me a key.
“Your room key girl, I loved it up to prevent anyone from going in as you aren’t around. It’s not cleaned up, so you will have to tidy it up and then you can come back to help out”. She told me as she handed the key over to me.
“Personally I would have let you off for today if I was in charge but Alpha’s orders” she winked and I laughed, this woman manages to do things that cracks me up. Did she just wink?.
As I walked down to my room I couldn’t help but feel glad to be back, it was better than being locked up in a dungeon.
I fished out the key from my pocket where I kept it and unlocked the door, pushing it open with a flourish. But as I stepped inside, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment. The room was a mess. Dust covered every surface, and the bed was unmade. It looked like it had been months since I cleaned it, well whose fault was it. Pfft.
The I sighed and shook my head. It was going to be a lot of work to get this room cleaned up, but I was determined to get it done. I started by opening the small window to let in some fresh air, and then I set to work sweeping and dusting. I scrubbed the floor and cleaned the window and even dusted the little table there.
As I worked, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia wash over me. I had so many memories in this room mostly with Ivy and the stuffs we did together.
Finally, after few hours of hard work, the room was clean. I stood back and surveyed my handiwork with a sense of pride. It felt good to have accomplished something, and it was nice to have a clean and welcoming space to stay in.
As I collapsed onto my freshly made I closed my eyes and smiled, feeling content and at peace.
Then I remembered I haven’t had a good bathe for some days and quickly got up, not to get the bed dirty. So I rushed to get clean.
When I was done, I felt very refreshed and was putting on new clothes when I heard a knock on my room door.
