CHAPTER 56
Coronation day…
Everyone was seated in the grand hall as they waited for the rituals to commence.
Emma was dressed in a beautiful white dress, looking all gorgeous. She stood amid the newly appointed elders.
Larisa turned to Basil who was seated quietly behind her.
“Is it okay for you to sit behind like this? You normally sit at the front roll with your father and I’m guessing your mother wouldn’t get a glimpse of you if you’re here” Larisa said and Basil crossed his arms together across his chest.
“That’s exactly what I want. I don’t want her to see me here but I don’t think that will be possible because my mother has keen eyesight, she can feel my presence from miles away”
“Does this mean your father wouldn’t be coming either for the coronation?” Larisa asked curiously.
“I won’t blame him if he doesn’t show up. I’m only here to support mother for the last time even though I’m not in support of her decision” Basil said and Mateo sat next to Basil.
“You don’t have to struggle much. Finally, the alpha with powers is showing his true colours. Your father couldn’t stop this, I don’t think he will be able to stop anything in the future” Mateo scoffed.
Basil glared at him.
“I don’t remember being this close with you for you to say such garbage to me. Can you move to another seat? You’re not welcome here” Basil said rudely.
“I’m not moving an inch. Just because you and your family always sat on the first sit, you think you own the grand hall. Dream on Basil. Take a look around, can you see your father around? No, he ran away. He’s too ashamed to show his face here. He can’t bear to watch his wife being coronated as the true Alpha. He’s hiding just like a loser” Mateo mocked and Basil threw a punch at his left cheek.
Mateo fell from his seat.
“How dare you punch me?” Mateo yelled and everyone turned to them.
“If you don’t shut your trap then you leave me with no choice but to give you another punch,” Basil said angrily.
Jackson walked to Emma.
Emma was putting on an anxious look as she couldn’t get what was going on behind her.
“What’s going on over there?” Emma asked curiously.
“I think your son is causing a scene back there. You need to go stop him” Jackson said and Emma stood up from her seat then walked down to where Basil was.
She got to Basil and then grabbed his hand tight.
“Mother, what are you doing?” Basil asked as he watched Emma drag him with her.
“Basil, of all traits of resemblance. Why did you take this troublesome attitude from your father? I get it that you don’t want to be here but since you’re here, don’t create a scene. No one’s here to play games so stop acting like a pub. If you think you can’t take it then you’re welcome to leave” Emma said seriously and Basil shoved her hands off.
“Fine, I’m leaving. I was only here to give you my support but since my presence isn’t appreciated, fine I will leave. I should have listened to father and stayed back” Basil said angrily as he glared at Mateo who was wearing a mockery smile on his face.
Basil clenched his fist and then walked away. He got to the door and the door cracked open. Alpha Devon walked in.
Basil gave him puppy eyes.
“And who said we’re not allowed here? Let’s go in Basil” Devon said with a smile and Basil nodded negatively.
“I don’t wish to father,” Basil said and Devon leaned forward.
“After facing such humiliation, are you going to just leave like that? Aren’t you going to show him his place? And I’m only going in because of you so don’t ruin the last show” Devon said and Basil smirked.
“I’m in,” Basil said with a smile and they went in.
“Emma, I get it that you wish to discipline your son but was it necessary to do that in front of everyone? Just because I’m not here, doesn’t give anyone the right to talk back or say trash to my son. If you wish to say anything to me, you can come to say it in front of me” Alpha Devon said coldly.
“Don’t get me wrong and don’t make me look like the bad guy here. Basil, punched Alpha Grant’s nephew hard in the face. Was I supposed to watch him create a scene in the grand hall” Emma said seriously.
“You didn’t even bother to listen to his explanation and you jumped to conclusions. Now tell me who’s creating a scene” Devon said seriously and alpha Grant managed to limp to where they were.
“Take a look at this. My nephew is hurt pretty badly and it’s all because of your son and you’ve got the nerve to defend him” Grant said seriously.
“Just because he’s your nephew, I think he deserved the punch,” Devon said seriously.
“What’s that supposed to mean Devon?” Grant yelled and Devon grabbed him by the neck.
“Call me with respect and stay out of this. You can’t even stand properly on your feet and you’ve got the nerve to stand up for someone. Didn’t you share your history with your nephew? I think you should do that when you’ve got the chance so he doesn’t end up like you. That would be too shameful. And I don’t care if Basil was right or wrong because I know he wouldn’t have done this if your so-called nephew didn’t provoke him. How about we listen to what your nephew said to Basil? I might end up throwing you a punch as well. You’ve got a fowl mouth going in your gene” Devon cursed and jerked Grant off.
Basil smiled inwardly as he watched Devon defend him.
So this is what it feels like to be defended by a father. No doubt why everyone admires him. Basil said in his head.
“Are you that excited that elders are fighting on your behalf? But don’t forget, you still didn’t get your mother’s support and you know why? Because she still thinks you’re in the wrong” Jackson whispered behind Basil and he turned to him.
“You’ve got a fowl mouth as well for an elder. Just stay out of my business and don’t try to act like we’re close. I see you as nothing so don’t act like you’re something in front of me. You’re no different from a loser. Running after my mother, are you that desperate to have her? Dream on because it will never happen” Basil said coldly then walked to his seat and sat.
“Did he just say those things to me? He’s only growing wings because of Devon. I will break those wings of his” Jackson said with so much hate as he clenched his fist.
He turned to his right and he found Ambrose staring at him.
“What are you staring at? You couldn’t even defend your father. Basil threw a punch at someone because his father was being defamed and you just sat there and watch him speak to me like that. What’s going on with you Ambrose? You’re beginning to act different from the way I raised you” Jackson said seriously and Ambrose looked away.
“Father don’t lash it out on me. You only got to hear all those things because you decided to provoke him and you didn’t defend yourself from that little pub either. Father, it will be better to be on the safer side. Can you please just stop pursuing Luna Emma? Basil looked down on you because of that” Ambrose said and Jackson glared at him.
“I’m pissed already so don’t add to it before you regret it. It’s adult’s business, stay out of it” Jackson said seriously and went to his seat.
Why did I even bother saying anything to him? Ambrose said in his head then shook his head.
He turned to the side and found Silvia smiling at him.
“What?” Ambrose asked staring at her but she kept on smiling.
Can today get any weird? Ambrose groaned in his head and then looked away.
Emma walked back to her seat since it was about time for the coronation to commence.
Everyone took their seats.
“Father, that was cool” Basil complimented and Devon smiled.
“I’ve got back at them for making you go through that humiliation but Basil next time, don’t pick a fight at the grand hall okay? It’s against the rule. You might get a penalty in the future if that happens again so no matter what happens next time, try to avoid fights okay? Why do you think we’re the only ones who sit at the front roll because no one dares pick a fight with me in front of the elders” Devon said and Basil smiled.
“I’m sorry father. Such an incident won’t repeat itself” Basil said and Devon tapped his thighs.
“It’s okay. After the coronation, we’re leaving without saying bye or without being noticed. I don’t wish to unfold another drama” Devon said and Basil nodded.
Minutes later after the coronation and following rituals. Devon and Basil left unnoticed just like he said.
Emma couldn’t fix her eyes on them because he was crowded with the elders and Alphas as they greeted and congratulated her.
Larisa was heading to her father’s car when someone dragged her to the side. She was about to scream when Emma placed a finger on her lips.
“Milady,” Larisa called in surprise.
“Larisa, if you don’t mind. Can you share with me what happened there with Basil and Mateo? I noticed you were seated in front of Basil. You must have heard everything that happened” Emma said calmly.
“But is it okay for you to be out here immediately after your coronation?” Larisa asked.
“Don’t worry about that and that’s why we’re in a corner?” Emma said with a smile.
“Well, Milady, Basil only punched Mateo because he spoke badly of the Alpha. He provoked Basil with his words and that’s why Basil ended up punching him” Larisa explained.
“So dumb of me and I couldn’t even figure that out. I can only imagine how Basil will be feeling right now. He must be feeling betrayed” Emma said worriedly.
“Don’t worry about that Milady. Alpha Devon already covered up for that, I don’t think Basil will be thinking about that right now” Larisa said with a smile.
“That sounds good but why do I feel even worse after hearing that,” Emma said in a low tone and Larisa sighted her father heading out of the grand hall.
“Milady, if that’s all. I will go ahead now” Larisa said with a bow then ran to her father. She wrapped her hands around her father’s arm.
Emma watched them from a corner and it felt like her heart was torn apart.
I only just got enthroned today but why does it feel like I regret everything already? Hopefully, I don’t lose my son because of this. Emma said in her head worriedly.
*******
Weeks later after the coronation…
Emma drove down to Grey pack’s house.
She was seated in the meeting room.
“Why was I told to come here? Was that necessary? They’re all acting like I never lived here before” Emma complained as Devon joined her in the meeting room.
“It’s different now. Then, you were just my Luna but now you’re the true Alpha female and you deserve all the respects that it brings” Devon said coldly.
“You’re beginning to sound like you’re speaking to one of those your enemies,” Emma said.
“What do you want? Why are you here? If you’re here to ask me why I haven’t reported any follow-up about the Grey pack then I don’t think you need to be here. You know me too well, I don’t share my pack affairs with anyone, not even the true Alpha” Devon said coldly.
“Can you just drop the formalities? I’m here to see Basil. I haven’t seen him for over a month now and I’m beginning to get worried” Emma said slowly.
“It’s nothing you should worry yourself about. Basil is fine and you can’t see now, Basil left grey pack weeks ago” Devon said and looked at him in shock.
