CHAPTER 54
Alpha Devon glared at Jackson and he walked closer to him.
“This isn’t the grand hall so don’t think you can barge in here like you want so get lost before I lose my cool. You can take Emma with you as well” Alpha Devon said coldly and Jackson scoffed.
“Are you being foolish or jealous? I’m finding it hard to read your emotions. You just lost something because of your mean attitude and I will make sure you don’t get it back so I’m hoping you’re letting go for good” Jackson said with a smile Devon grabbed him by the collar and his claws grew out.
“Are you planning on slitting my throat right here? In front of everyone and Luna Emma? I can see how jealous you are but I can’t help it, you caused it for yourself and You’ve got no one to blame for it. And again, about the attack on your way back. I’ve got some investigation going, I must get to the root of it. I have to find out if it was an accident or if someone planned it all” Alpha Jackson said with a blank expression and Devon shoved him off as he tried so hard to control his anger.
“I don’t care, do whatever you wish. I’m also running some investigation to find out if you were behind it so good luck with that and get the hell out of my territory” Devon yelled then walked away.
“Devon,” Emma called out slowly and Jackson walked to her and gave her his handkerchief.
“It’s all jealousy. He will get over it soon. Don’t let it get to you” Jackson comforted and Emma looked at him and then walked away.
“Luna!” Jackson called and Emma turned to him.
“What else do you want? Showing up here only made things worse for me so what else do you intend on spoiling for me your sudden care is beginning to make me feel uncomfortable. I get that you want what’s best for me but you should know when to pursue and stop crossing the line. It’s annoying” Emma said seriously then walked away.
Jackson looked up and he saw Devon looking at him with a smile on his lips.
“This isn’t over Devon” Jackson mumbled with a frown and he ran after Emma.
Alpha Devon headed to his chambers and Kent was waiting for him already.
“I don’t think any of this is going to make Emma change her mind. She’s not bulging and the coronation is around the corner” Kent said.
“Just like uncle said. We shouldn’t stop Emma from getting enthroned and that’s not my intention for doing this. I’m not trying to stop Emma but I’m trying to let Jackson keep his guard down. It’s so obvious why he’s trying to win Emma’s good side and that’s so foolish of him because I’m not going to let that happen. He’s miles away from achieving that” Devon scoffed.
“I think you went too far this time around. Getting yourself hurt wasn’t in the plan so I don’t get why you allowed yourself to get hurt. It’s childish” Kent complained and Devon looked away.
“I also don’t know why I did that. Come to think of it, that’s so childish. It made me look so little. I’m way too strong to get stabbed by a dagger. I can’t believe I had to go to such lengths to get Emma down here” Devon said slowly.
Kent exhaled frustratedly.
“How about you come clean and tell her you to support her and all this will be over. You’re hurting her and hurting yourself right now, is it worth it? Can’t you just come clean?” Kent asked and Devon glared at him.
“You think that’s easy. If I come clean then what? All the enemies who have been aiming at me will use Emma as their revenge tool just to get to me. Why do you think Jackson is working so hard? It’s because he’s also aiming at the true Alpha position, he’s only going to use Emma to get there and I’m never going to let that happen. He’s never going to be the true Alpha. If it’s not Emma or me then it’s nobody else. This is the only way I can protect her from afar. If everyone sees, we’re no longer on good terms. They will lower their guards and try to go easy on her. I won’t be able to protect her if she stays at the grand hall. Do you understand?” Devon half yelled.
“Why do you think Emma won’t be able to protect herself? You might feel this way because you’ve always been a protective shield for her but you have no idea how she deals with battles out there without your knowledge. I don’t mean to misunderstand your intentions but with the look of things, you might end up losing Emma for good if you keep this up because that Jackson of a jerk is way too determined to be joked around with. Have a look at this” Kent said pointing out to the window and they both had a peek as they watch Jackson open the car door for Emma.
“Don’t try to distract me. Everything is going just as planned and I’m not changing my mind. You know me too well and I don’t give up on things. Do you think I will sit back and watch Jackson have Emma to himself? It’s all a show” Devon said and moved away from the window.
“Of course, it’s all a show. He doesn’t win a chance” Kent scoffed.
A knock came on the door.
“Sire,” Abe uttered as he came into Devon’s chambers.
“Yes, Abe,” Devon said.
“Sire, I would love you to meet someone. Do you have a spare time?” Abe asked politely and Devon smiled.
“Of course, what is it?” Devon asked.
“Abe, what’s all this about? Can’t you see right now isn’t the best time for that” Kent said seriously.
“It’s okay. Abe doesn’t request things like this if it isn’t important and who said now isn’t the best time? I’m not busy. Let’s go, Abe” Devon said and they all left for the grand sitting room.
Silvia and Basil were seated already.
“Greetings, sire” Silvia greeted swiftly on seeing Devon.
“Who do have here?” Devon uttered with a half smile and he turned to Kent.
“Isn’t she Grayson’s daughter?” Devon whispered to Kent.
“Yes, I am” Silvia answered and Devon smiled awkwardly.
“Sit” Kent instructed Silvia as they both sat down.
“Well, I’ve heard a lot about you from your father,” Devon said.
“Really?” Silvia asked excitedly.
“Of course, but what do we owe this pleasant visit?”
“Father, she has been dying to meet with you and lucky her, you gave listening ears to Abe” Basil cut in.
“Is that so?” Devon asked.
“Yes sire,” Silvia said politely.
“Silvia, are you okay? You look uncomfortable” Devon asked and Silvia sat properly.
Of course, I can’t believe I’m sitting next to alpha Devon. I think I’m dreaming right now. Silvia screamed in her head.
“Silvia, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and tell your wish to the alpha. You might not get a chance as this” Abe reminded and Silvia smiled widely.
“Father, you’re the only one who can put such a smile on her face. She’s probably over the moon”
“Well, I’m honoured. I guess I should have dropped by and said hello to you when I visited your father. Abe said you have a wish, what’s your wish?” Devon said with a smile.
Silvia closed her eyes tightly as she crossed her fingers against each other.
“Sire, please can you be my master? I’ve always admired your bravery and I hope to grow to be just like you” Silvia uttered sharply.
Kent’s eyes widened in surprise and a smile appeared on his lips.
“Is that so?” Devon asked with a mean expression.
Silvia opened her eyes slowly as she noticed the cold expression from Devon’s words.
“Can’t I?” Silvia asked slowly.
“I told her to stop dreaming but she doesn’t listen to anyone,” Basil said sarcastically.
Devon looked at Kent.
“Kent, what do you think?” Devon asked.
“Well, I find her interesting just like Alpha Grayson said. She’s admirable as well” Kent complimented and Silvia smiled widely.
“Silvia, what’s your plan for the Silver lake pack? And why do you wish to be powerful and brave?” Alpha Devon asked and Silvia swallowed hard before answering.
“Whenever I told father about my plans for our pack, he always ended up telling me not to think much about it before I’m still a teen. I shouldn’t worry about things like that. Father, I’ve always protected myself in return for the love and care he showed me. I wish to take over silver pack someday and protect it just like father protected me because that’s the only way for me to make father extremely happy” Silvia said with a smile.
“Interesting, I had no idea you were this considerate towards your father. Grayson got himself a lucky charm” Devon said with a smile.
“Sire, please will you take me as a student?” Silvia asked with puppy eyes and Devon laughed.
“Of course, I will. After all, you’ve got a suitable reason to get my approval but is this safe for Basil? What if you overthrow him in the nearest future?” Devon uttered jovially.
“But sire, I don’t think you’ve got such spare time to teach Silvia” Kent cut in.
“Exactly what I said to her” Basil added.
“It doesn’t matter how I teach her as long as she learns it the right way. And that’s why I’ve got uncle Greg” Devon uttered and Abe and Basil’s eyes widened in shock.
“Elder Greg?” They both chorused in shock.
“Yes, but why do you two sound so shocked?”
“Father, I wish to be his student as well,” Basil said anxiously.
“Same here, sire” Abe uttered swiftly.
Silvia looked at the both of them as she failed to understand their expression.
“So Silvia, I will discuss it with your father and we decide how you begin your training. Is that fine?” Devon asked and Silvia nodded excitedly.
“Thank you so much, sire”
“Father, what about us?” Basil asked.
“I get it that Basil you’re eager to improve your fighting skills but Abe, you’re a master in all this. Do you still need assistance?” Devon asked.
“Yes sir, I’m far from being a master. I still need some guidance” Abe said and Devon laughed.
“Interesting. Well, let’s continue this conversation some other time. It’s getting late and I’ve got lots of things to take care of so you should all head to your chambers” Devon instructed and Basil pouted.
“Yes, sire,” Silvia said excitedly then left the sitting room.
Basil and Abe sluggishly left the sitting room.
Devon and Kent laughed at the sight of that.
“Was I too farfetched about my stories about uncle Greg? They seem to excited on hearing his name” Devon said with a smile.
“I guess so. Elder Greg is going to cause a scene if you tell him about this. You’re trying to end his quiet and peaceful life as an elderly werewolf” Kent said.
“I guess, this came at the right time. He’s leaving Grey pack easily this time around” Devon said with a malicious smile.
A came into Devon’s phone.
“Yes, Grayson,” Devon said over the phone as he took the call.
“I thought you said you weren’t going to force them into a marriage but what’s this? Why are you giving me false hopes” Grayson said coldly over the phone.
“I was about to put a call across to you about Silvia. You called at the right time”
“What are you trying to do?”
“What do you mean?” Devon asked.
“If you’re not planning on making Silvia your daughter-in-law then I don’t see a point of this call”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about and what you’re driving at but just like I said before, I’m not forcing my son into any marriage. If you’re still obsessed about marriage alliance then let’s talk some other time. I’ve got lots of things on my mind so don’t add to it” Devon said seriously.
“I’m not in for jokes either so let’s talk when you’ve cleared your head,” Grayson said and Devon hung up. t
