CHAPTER 53
The meeting was over and Alpha Devon walked out of the main hall and Emma ran after him.
“Devon, we need to talk,” Emma said as she followed him.
Alpha Devon turned around swiftly with a blank expression on his face.
“Do we still have anything left to talk about? Your enthronement date has been fixed. You got what you wanted right” Devon said coldly.
“How can you speak to me in that way when I’m doing this for the both of us,” Emma said seriously and Devon glared at her.
“You’re doing this for the both of us? Are you kidding me or you’re trying to crack a joke? Emma, you’re doing this for yourself and you’re not doing this for me. I accept, I was the one who agreed to what the Alphas said the other day but I only did that because I didn’t want to make things complicated. I only cut them short but you took it all seriously. You listened to everything that jerk told you. You didn’t even bother confiding in me before making up your mind. Long story short, you chose this over our relationship and family. Good luck with your enthronement” Alpha Devon said angrily then walked away.
“Devon!” Emma called out loudly and Devon stopped walking.
“What we have is over, just so you know,” Devon said coldly then walked away.
Tears roll down Emma’s cheeks and Jackson ran to her.
Emma sniffed on seeing Jackson.
“Did something happen between the both of you?” Jackson asked as he wiped off Emma’s tears.
“You probably heard it too and I don’t wish to talk about it so can we head back in,” Emma said seriously Jackson looked at the entrance suspiciously and just then Devon’s car drove off.
Jackson smirked secretly.
“You’ve got lots of challenges ahead of you but you will overcome all of them and I will help you do that,” Jackson said with a smile and Emma glanced at him.
“Thank you for that but I think I will be just fine. Let’s go in” Emma said and walked past him.
Ambrose stood outside the grand hall and watched his father’s every move.
Jackson caught Ambrose’s stare then he walked to him.
“What’s that look for? Shouldn’t you be inside? What are you doing outside?” Alpha Jackson asked seriously.
“I’ve always known you hated Alpha Devon but today I just confirmed it all. You must hate him so much. Father, I’ve never seen you fight so much about something or over something but regarding Luna Emma becoming the next true Alpha, you’re working hard. Father, do you like her?” Ambrose asked with a blank expression and Jackson furrowed his eyebrows.
“What the hell are you spurting? Where’s all that coming from? Just because I wish to give Emma all my support doesn’t mean I have feelings for her. What the hell is wrong with you, how can you be this childish? I’m disappointed in you, you should know your father better. Don’t waste your time out and come in” Alpha Jackson said seriously and left for the main hall.
Silvia was standing in a corner and she eavesdropped on their conversation.
Ambrose smelled her presence and he swiftly appeared in front of her.
“What do you think you’re doing? For how long have you been here?” Ambrose asked seriously as he pressed her against the wall.
Silvia smirked with a cold look in her eyes.
“What the nerve you’ve got to hold me this way? Aren’t you scared of what might happen if someone sees you as this” Silvia uttered sarcastically and Ambrose stepped away from her?
“I don’t get it. What’s your deal? You keep getting on my nerves” Ambrose said and Silvia smiled.
“I’m glad, I get on your nerves. Do you live in the pack house in Crust pack?” Silvia asked out of the blue and Ambrose stared at her suspiciously.
“And where’s that coming from? Why do you want to know that?”
“Because I find you interesting, you’ve triggered my curiosity, you shouldn’t have spoken to your father that way. I noticed you don’t any friends, I plan on visiting you after the coronation of Luna Emma. You accept guests right?” Silvia said straightforwardly and Ambrose smirked.
“What!” Ambrose gasped after putting some thoughts into Silvia’s statement and she smiled.
“Bye, see you after the coronation” Silvia smiled and then walked away as she waved at him.
“What was that supposed to mean? You don’t intend on doing that right?” Ambrose screamed but Silvia waved at him and then went outside the grand hall.
“She’s crazy” Ambrose exclaimed and shook his head.
Silvia joined Basil and Larisa outside the grand hall.
“What are you doing out here? You didn’t leave with your father?” Silvia asked and Basil stood up from the bench.
“I will be heading back with uncle Kent and Abe,” Basil said.
“So like Alpha Devon. He left angrily. Is it safe for him to drive alone? He won’t do anything stupid right?” Silvia asked worriedly.
“Well, he will heal faster if he does anything dangerous to himself but the father is way too cautious for that. He has me now, I matter more” Basil bragged and Larisa laughed.
“You sound so carefree. You don’t sound worried one bit” Silvia complained.
“Why should I be worried? Father can take care of himself and right now, I think he needs to be left alone after all, mother broke his heart” Basil said calmly.
“Hmm, you’re acting weird Basil. What on earth have you been discussing with Larisa?” Silvia exclaimed as she stared at the both of them.
“I have to go now. Uncle Kent is out” Basil cut in and they all turned around.
Abe walked to them.
“Is this some sort of meeting or what? Feels like I’m the only one missing out” Abe said jovially.
“Silvia just arrived so I don’t think you missed much” Basil and Larisa stood up.
“Let’s get going, Silvia. You’re coming with us, right? I saw you meet up with him earlier. I think you’ve proven yourself” Abe said and Basil looked at the both of them a bit confused.
“Of course, I will love to come with you but do you think the alpha is in the mood for visitors?” Silvia asked worriedly.
“Don’t you trust me?” Abe asked and Silvia nodded sluggishly.
“What the hell are the both of them talking about?” Basil asked looking at Larisa.
“Trust me, you don’t want to know but it’s all about meeting Alpha Devon I guess,” Larisa said.
“Let’s get going” Kent called out from the car.

Along the way, alpha Devon felt like he was being followed.
Do I have to go through this at this moment? They won’t give up, will they? Alpha Devon groaned in his head and he parked at the side of the road.
A dagger pierced through the window and he took the dagger with one of his arms.
“Are you satisfied now?” Alpha Devon yelled as he winced silently.
“I will hold it all in for you Emma. I hope this news gets to you faster than I expect” Devon said in a low tone as he watched the spot he got stabbed.
He dragged out the dagger and howled loudly.
Damn it! They got me hard. Devon groaned in his head.
Minutes later, Kent’s car drove by and they found Devon’s car packed at the roadside.
“Isn’t that father’s car?” Basil uttered and Kent pulled over.
They rushed to Devon.

They came back to the pack house and just like alpha Devon expected the news got to Emma.
Silvia, Abe and Basil sat at Basil’s visiting chambers.
“Don’t you all find it all suspicious?” Silvia asked with her thumb on her chin.
“Suspicious about what?” Basil asked.
“Looking at the position of where the alpha got stabbed. I think it’s the work of some sort of assassin. If I could figure that out then think of what the alpha must have thought of but he didn’t fight back. It feels like the alpha allowed himself to be stabbed on purpose. What on earth is he thinking?” Silvia asked as she thought hard about the whole thing.
“I don’t think it’s something you should find suspicious. I think all the plans of the alpha all falling in place and it doesn’t matter if it looked suspicious” Abe said and Basil looked at him curiously.
“How come you know so much when we always hang out together? What plans? Father’s plan to stop mother from going to the grand hall failed so I don’t think any of his plans are working out and now he even got hurt” Basil said and they heard Emma’s voice as she ran closer to where they were.
“What’s mother doing here? Isn’t she supposed to be at the grand hall?” Basil added in surprise and Abe smirked.
“Where’s the Alpha right now? I can’t find him in his chambers” Emma questioned one of the maids walking along the lobby.
“And she’s desperately looking for him for just a mere stab” Silvia smiled.
“Do you understand now or should I elaborate more?” Abe asked and Basil smiled.
“I only acted dumb because it’s fun. Of course, I know father doesn’t give up so easily and it’s weird how he gave up on mother at the grand hall” Basil said.
“Should we go have a look at what is going on?” Silvia asked with a silly smile and they all looked away.
“It’s adults stuff, let’s not get involved,” Abe said coldly.

Emma ran to the packed garden and she found Devon staring at a space.
“Devon, are you okay?” Emma asked worriedly as she ran to his front.
“Why do you care and what are you doing here?” Alpha Devon asked coldly.
“What’s wrong with you? You got attacked on your way back home, of course, it’s only natural that I’m worried about you. How are you feeling now? You shouldn’t stay out here you should head back inside” Emma said worriedly as she held his other arm.
Devon looked at her hand and he jerked it off.
“You should have thought hard about your decision before deciding to choose the true Alpha position over me. Right now, I don’t need you anymore. If you don’t want me in your life then I don’t want you” Devon said coldly and walked away.
Emma ran after him and hugged him from behind.
“Please stop saying things like this. You’re hurting me hard. Do you have to use such words on me just so I change my mind” Emma said holding back her tears.
“That’s how much you hurt me. If you’re not going to rethink your decision then I don’t think you should be here” Devon said coldly and Emma broke the hug.
“We will talk about this after you head back inside,” Emma said and held Devon’s hand.
She brought him inside the pack house. Alpha Devon smiled secretly but in a blink of an eye. Jackson is in the pack house already waiting for Emma.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Alpha Devon asked angrily.
“I need you to breathe. I’m only here because I was worried about you. I heard of the attack on your way back. I’m only here to check up on you and see if Luna Emma got here safely” Alpha Jackson said and Devon clenched his fist and he shoved Emma off.
“For a second, I thought you were here because you were worried about me. I can’t believe you told him to come here as well” Devon said seriously.
“I didn’t ask him to come here, believe me, Devon” Emma tried to explain.
“Come on, Alpha Devon don’t be so childish. Don’t you believe me? I’m here for you”
“I don’t care, I don’t remember being so close to you so stop acting like we’re friends. You annoy me with your presence and you know it. Are you trying to piss me off by showing up anywhere Emma is? Don’t get on my nerves” Alpha Devon yelled as his eyes slowly began to turn yellow in anger.
