Jamya left with Ayden since he needed to return to the studio. Nolan grabbed the document, also going back to the company.
As a result, Kara, James, Silence, and Will were left in the ward.
But the ward remained silent.
At first, Kara focused only on her phone, ignoring everyone else.
Silence stood by the bed and said nothing.
Ever since Arya left, several times, he could not hold back the idea of asking for Arya’s number.
In the end, he gave up the idea.
But this time, when he met Kara, the idea was haunting him again. And he couldn’t shake it off now.
“I have Arya’s number, but I won’t tell you!” Kara suddenly said coldly.
“Why?”
Silence had no idea what resulted in Kara’s hostility to him.
“Because you don’t deserve it!” Kara stood up angrily and glared at the tall man.
As a soft-hearted lady, Kara barely spoke such harsh words.
But she felt so bad for Arya at the thought of Arya crying alone in the airport.
Silence stared at her coldly. Standing next to such a commanding man, Will felt under pressure when seeing the sharp look in his eyes.
But Kara was not deterred.
“Don’t stare at me like that. You forced Arya out of the country, and now you want her number. You just can’t have enough until you shut her up for good, right?”
Silence fell silent.
He clenched his fists. His face was grim and cold as if he was holding something back.
For the first time, James saw the awkward look on his good friend’s face. Sorry as he was for Silence, he wouldn’t do anything about it because Kara should be the one making the decision.
“You should leave. I don’t want to see you either.”
Standing by the bed, Silence blocked the light shining into the ward. He stood still for a long while before he finally spat out a question.
“Is she alright?”
Kara gave him a sarcastic smile. “Arya was in her pajamas when she was driven out of the country. She was alone crying outside the toilet of the airport.
After she reached that foreign country, she kept herself busy with her classes every day. She just couldn’t afford to stop.
Because she was afraid. She was afraid that she would make a mistake if she thought about you again. She was worried that you would be unhappy with her. She didn’t want you to hate her.
She had let you go. If you really want her to be happy, you should let her go as well.”
Kara and Arya had been friends for more than ten years. Although Arya didn’t tell her, Kara could feel a great pain Arya had been through.
She still remembered how Arya practiced boxing. Even when the lady was beaten and pressed on the ground, she never shed a tear. Instead, she always got up and fought back.
But such a strong girl was crying like a lost child at the airport that day. Her eyes were red and swollen, and her face haggard.
Silence looked out of the window and forced himself not to blink. Then he forced a smile, ready to leave.
“Wait!”
When he reached the door, Kara spoke again.
Silence stopped, his back stiff.
“Are you getting married?”
“Yes!”
Silence hesitated for a long while before he spat out the word with all the strength left in his body.
“Okay, I will tell Arya. If she wants to talk to you, you will get her call.”
“Thank you,” said Silence. He clenched his fists so tightly that veins popped out.
Kara watched as the man left. Her eyes were red.
She was sorry for Arya.
James wiped her tears with a handkerchief. He didn’t want to comment on others’ relationships.
But he would support Kara unconditionally for whatever she wanted.
Will pressed the middle of his eyebrows. Romantic relationships could be such a headache. He didn’t want to make any comment.
But as Silence’s friend, Will felt sympathetic for him when the guy was so troubled.
Kara stayed in the ward for one more day. Will gave her a thorough body check to make sure she was fine before agreeing to discharge her.
Back at the villa, Kara had a video chat with Arya during her break.
The two chatted about their lives. Arya noticed that Kara seemed to have something else to say.
“What do you want to tell me? Go ahead. I hope it isn’t news of your pregnancy, though.”
Kara blinked in confusion. “Why can’t it be news of my pregnancy?”
Arya rolled her eyes. “If you are pregnant and having a baby, I’m going to become Aunt Arya, right? No, I can’t take it. I’m still a young, beautiful lady. I’m not ready to be Aunt Arya.”
Kara’s mouth twitched. That was a lame excuse!
“I got something to tell you. A man named Silence came to me today and asked for your number.”
“And you didn’t give him, did you?” Arya’s expression changed.
Kara shook her head, pretending not to know their story. “You think I’ll do that to you? He wanted your number, but he didn’t seem sincere. So I didn’t give it to him.”
“Oh.”
Arya looked down in a sour mood.
“Arya, he also said that he is getting married,” Kara observed her expression carefully.
Arya was still for a while before she collected herself and stared blankly at the screen.
“Arya, if you can’t let him go, call him and talk it through.” Kara clenched her fists, sympathetic for her friend.
“What’s there to talk about? He’s getting married.”
Arya looked stiff. She wanted to force a smile, but that smile was too ugly. In the end, the smile turned into tears.
“Kara, what should I do? I feel so bad.”
Arya let out the words, her expression nonchalant. Then she burst into tears. Sorry for Arya, Kara cried as well.
“Arya, don’t worry. If you don’t want him to get married, you can go and make a scene at his wedding. If you are not happy, he will certainly not be happy!”
“No, Kara. It’s not like this.”
Arya wiped her tears and sobbed. She wanted to stop crying, but the sorrow was overwhelming. She could not calm herself down.
Arya’s birthday was in November, and she was not yet eighteen. She was just a seventeen-year-old girl.
But the man she had loved for years was getting married, and the bride was not her. At the thought of that, she could not hold back her emotions.
“Kara, I don’t deserve to be with him, so I wish him well. If he is happy after he gets married, I’ll be happy for him.”
Arya was such a proud woman. She must feel very humble to say that she didn’t deserve to be with the man.
“Arya…”
“Don’t worry, I’m still young. I can handle it.”
Kara was at a loss for words.
Meanwhile, in the study…
Knowing that Silence should be in a bad mood, James called his good friend.
“Do you want to go out for a drink?”
“Not available.” The answer was crisp.
“Are you really marrying a woman you don’t love?” he asked sarcastically.
If he hadn’t been Silence’s friend for years, he would not have said this.
“Whatever.”
“Well, congratulations then.” Since Silence was not in the mood, James didn’t bother to push him further. He was not a talkative man, anyway.
“Don’t invite me to your wedding. It’s going to be disgusting to watch your tearful face.”
James hung up the phone. He was annoyed when Silence was so impatient with their conversation.
He threw his phone to the table and was about to get up when he heard the phone vibrate.
James stared at his phone and sneered. He only picked up the phone the moment the phone was about to be disconnected.
“Go ahead!”
“Get out. I can use a drink.”
“I want to be with my wife. Not available.” James snorted and leaned lazily against the backseat.
James was the same as Silence before he met Kara, so he understood his friend now.
