Sophia was relieved when she returned to the old apartment. This time, she didn’t care terrible attitudes of Rose and Linda.
Thinking that she would leave here with Kathleen in a few days, and Rose and Linda would be driven out of the old apartment and be homeless, she couldn’t help laughing at their wretched future.
“What are you laughing at?”
Linda noticed Sophia’s strange smile and unkind expression.
“Nothing. Just thinking of some stupid TV series yesterday.” Sophia made an excuse and quickly went to the kitchen to hide her emotions.
Rose couldn’t figure out what Sophia was thinking, but she also had her plans.
After when Rose and Linda went out for a walk, Sophia sneaked into Linda’s room again and stole some money under Linda’s bed.
Linda did not notice the loss of money. A few days later, Linda took her money out and checked.
She picked up a stack of money but found that there were all white papers under a real bill. She was so angry that she went berserk.
“Rose, Sophia!”
There were only two in this apartment who could steal her money.
“Madam Quain, what’s wrong?” Rose asked worriedly, looking at her pale face.
Linda leaned on her walking stick and stared at her coldly. When she found that Rose was calm, she went to find Sophia angrily.
However, when she broke into Sophia’s room, there was no one there. Linda was in pain and became breathless.
She would have fainted on the ground if Rose hadn’t helped her.
“Madam Quain, what happened?”
“That ungrateful cow Sophia stole my money and ran away!”
Linda was still crying about her 700, 000 and had not thought about her property ownership certificate.
She was literately in pain and was out of breath when she thought of the 700, 000 stolen by Sophia.
Rose was also outrageous when she heard this and quickly reported to the police.
Now Linda’s money was used to support her life, too. How could she live a decent life if Linda was broken?
Since Sophia was heartless, she didn’t need to have mercy.
Rose took out her phone and called the police.
Sophia was on the run. She had expected that Linda would look for her, so, she saved all the money in two bank cards and continued to look for Kathleen.
There were two men following Sophia. They guessed she might be looking for someone.
“Ms. Sophia, are you looking for your daughter, Kathleen?” One of the men asked.
“Who are you? I have no idea what you are talking about.” Sophia was cautious.
Judging by her tone, the two men confirmed the guess.
“Your daughter Kathleen sent us to pick you up. This is her phone number and you can call her.”
Sophia was surprised. She stared at his phone and finally dialed the number.
It was Kathleen’s voice, “Mom, give them the thing we discussed before. They will take you to my place.”
“Kathleen, are you alright now?”
There was a short pause, “Mom, I’m fine. Give the things to them and we can leave.”
The man hung up the phone and turned to Sophia.
Sophia hesitated. Thinking of what Kathleen had just said, he was reluctant, but he still took out two bank cards and handed them to the man.
“Where is Kathleen? Let me see her.”
“Okay.”
The man was satisfied with the bank card.
He exchanged looks with the other man and they took Sophia to the riverside.
Sophia stood on the dock, looking for Kathleen. She was puzzled.
“Where is my Kathleen?”
“Miss Kathleen is on the boat over there. You’ll see her later.”
The man helped her to get onto the boat politely.
Sophia was anxious to see Kathleen, so she didn’t think carefully and just followed them.
However, when she didn’t find Kathleen in the boat, she finally sensed the danger.
She turned around.
Just as she was about to question them, she felt a sharp pain in her neck.
Her eyes were widened in shock, seeing that the man raised his arm. She fell to the ground and fainted.
The man snorted and took out his mobile phone.
To catch Sophia, they used an APP to imitate Kathleen’s voice.
“John, we’ve got the person on the boat. What should we do with these two cards?”
“One for you guys, and send the other one to Mr. James,” John ordered.
After they hung up the phone, one of them sent Sophia abroad, and the other sent the bank card to James as they were told.
When James got the bank card, he checked the balance and sneered.
700, 000 was exactly the amount that stupid Linda sold Kara to him.
“James, come and have a look at my works.”
Kara went to the study with her phone excitedly, showing her painting to James.
James turned off his computer and looked at Kara who jumped up and down excitedly. His face was calm as he looked at her work.
Kara’s paintings were very creative, with bright and vibrant colors. He found her works have a strong visual impact.
A ray of colorful light shone in a dark world where a little girl got lost. She tried and failed to touch the light.
Her eyes were filled with fear and anxiety as well as hopes.
However, it was not that she would never be able to touch the light. As long as she made efforts and jumped up bravely, she would catch the light.
James placed his finger on his thin lips as he pondered. This idea might come from Kara’s experience in the small black room.
Perhaps it was because of her personal experiences, so the emotions hidden in the little girl’s eyes were particularly complicated.
The most attractive thing was the ray of light on the entire picture. Following the light, one could see the girl’s eyes. It would be very difficult to look away if one were attracted by her eyes.
“Not bad,” he commented on objectively.
Kara was annoyed. She sat on his lap and let him have a closer look at her paintings.
“Look at it carefully. I’m not asking about the techniques, but the emotions in this painting. What do you feel?”
James looked at her big eyes which were filled with anticipation.
He had no strength left to feel the emotions of that painting. The only he wanted was to have her now.
Taking her phone away, he lowered his head to kiss her lips.
“James, you haven’t said anything about my painting yet.” Kara smiled and dodged.
“Let’s go to bed and have a closer look.”
James held her delicate face with his big hands and gently kissed her. He carried her up.
“No, I haven’t finished my work yet.”
Kara struggled to free herself by swinging her legs.
He held her tightly and she failed to shake him off. She tried to scratch his armpit but it was useless.
Nothing could stop James from carrying her back to the room, pretending to throw her onto the bed.
The last time Kara was thrown by him, she hurt her head. So, this time she immediately hugged his neck tightly.
“James, it’s still early. Put me down and let finish my work first.”
However, James was not easy to be persuaded. He was just pretending to throw her onto the bed to scare her.
He walked into the bathroom.
“Since it’s still early, let’s do something else and talk about your work later.”
“No, James, we did it to midnight yesterday. Ala, don’t, don’t take off your clothes…”
Then, her sound was blocked off by the door.
It was a long night and there was enough time, but for James, the time was far from being enough.
