Chapter Twenty-Five – My story.
Rihanna’s POV
The hunters of Black Rose were ready to go. Dara came out of the prison were the lead hunter had been and nodded to me. “It’s been done.”
I smiled, walking towards the hunters. They shuddered in fear and it only added to my pride. “Your Silver releases you.”
It was important to act like a second person as they’d likely report to their Alpha. They exhaled in relief, knowing they weren’t brought out to die.
Their lead hunter was dragged out to meet them, looking drunk and speaking gibberish. Dara smiled as he came out.
That was her duty, intoxicating him with drugs and miniature amounts of wolfsbane so what he’d say will be seen as a joke, including Your Silver being a female.
I hoped Black Rose Alpha would fall for it. The last thing I needed was another Alpha, other than Red Moon’s Alpha, wanting me dead.
Since Red Moon had a Lycan they wanted to exchange with me, in no time they could convince Chris to accept, I’d be severely wanted.
“You can leave now! Tell your Alpha that Your Silver wants to have good relations with him!” I told the hunters, when they finished washing.
They had suspicious looks but nodded.
Of course, they should know it wasn’t true and get the hell out. The carriage set off and I was more than glad to know they were gone.
I turned to my warriors. “So, one of you reported that after a meeting with Black Rose Jake and Royal Beta Ray, Beta Gaius of Red Moon Pack was imprisoned?”
Jean, the one who had sent the report, crawled out from the rest. “Yes, that’s the information I got, I didn’t get news on what crime he did.”
I nodded at her, that’s good enough. Whatever it was for Jake and Ray to cooperate, it was surely for my advantage and Red Moon fall.
“I am asking for votes now. This mission is by choice, you are not bound by duty or loyalty to do this.” I raised my left hand while speaking.
They all had confused expressions so I further explained. “I am to embark on a mission of saving a Lycan from Red Moon Pack.”
It shouldn’t be the most surprising thing they’ve heard that week, but my dramatic warriors till gasped, looking perplexed.
“As I said, I only want volunteers! He’s captive and we set captives free. Also, it’d be nice to mess with Red Moon leverage on me.”
Camilla strolled from the rest, with folded arms. “Actually, what I heard from Black Hills was Beta Gaius wanted to trade you already.”
Jean glanced at her and looked down.
“He went to Black Hills to trade her?” Dara asked. “Then it wasn’t successfully or else why was he in prison?”
“Perhaps something else came up.” Camilla confirmed. “Delta Jonah is at Black Hills, maybe he spoke on Red Moon’s attempted murder.”
The warriors gasped again and nodded, taking in Camilla’s words.
Jean hung her head low in shame. “I am sorry, Your Silver, I couldn’t get enough information.”
Camilla rolled her eyes at the girl’s words.
“It’s okay. Thanks for that, Camilla, I think we can bother less about Red Moon attacking us with their lead murderer in prison.”
The warriors laughed but I didn’t mean that. Beta Gaius was only an instrument, the real bastard was the Red Moon Alpha.
With his Beta imprisoned, he’d be more conscious of losing the last important thing, the Lycan.
It may not be important to the Alpha King, but a Lycan can do a lot of damage to smaller packs, like Red Moon does.
“Your Silver, I think we should forget about the Lycan and take a break. So far, all the small packs are free.” A warrior suggested.
She was backed up by only a few, none of the warriors liked the idea of just ‘taking a break’.
“Why don’t we make more enemies, the more the merrier. Blue Fire Pack has slaves who get low wages.” Camilla said.
My eyes dimmed on hearing ‘slaves’. Weren’t all slaves free, already? Blue Fire Pack agreed to pay slaves. Price should be discussed by them.
Lana sulked down in me, giving me a low spirit.
“Come on girl, don’t give up on me now.” I begged her.
She sighed. “That’s all the silver wolf can do. Slaves are free. Remaining our revenge on Chris, which may not work out as he’s not our enemy.”
My fists clenched but I slowly released them. A part of me outgrew the pain of rejection but also wanted to rub on Chris’s face what I’ve become.
I wasn’t sure if it was something to be proud of – a troublesome rogue. But I was damn sure I was a force to reckon with, one he respected, at least.
“Warriors!” I beckoned on the chattering wolfs before me. “I think for today, we should ‘take a break’.” I pointed at the wolf that had suggested it. “Perhaps some of us need it.”
The wolf smiled proudly, nodding.
Camilla sighed audibly. “I guess we can also hop on our personal vendettas, cos I don’t see myself staying at a place.” she whined.
She always reminded me of Beatrice! Very rebellious. But I brushed it aside. “You are very welcome to hop on your personal vendetta.”
She smirked, looking at a group of girls, who smiled along with her. I was curious on what they planned to do but stayed clam.
“As long as you protect your own butt and don’t expect Your Silver coming to save you, then all good.” Dara chipped in, with an eye roll.
Some warriors chuckled and I nodded in agreement. I’d be having a long sleep and would need no one breaking my mind link in tears.
“Actually, they’d be no need to call Your Silver if she just came with us.” Camilla replied.
I paused on my steps, I was already heading inside the cave to my room.
The warriors had curious stares on Camilla and I. “Girl, where’d you want me to go with you?”
“To try to blend in. Let’s see a palm reader who show us our mates so…”
There was a loud ‘shush’ sound from a warrior, shutting the other warrior up. My eyes widened. Palm readers to show me my mate?
Uh-uh, I wasn’t in a hurry to get a second mate. And I’d know when I see him, sparks first before I’d catch his scent, like it had been with Chris.
“You think that’s a problem now? A mate will slow us down and make us hate our existence. Remember her story?” Dara pointed me.
The clueless warriors snapped their heads at me, wondering what ‘story’ I held. Only Dara and Camilla there knew my name and story.
Camilla looked guilty when she was reminded of it. “Oh my, I’m sorry, I forgot. It’s just some of us never got mates so…”
“I get it, Camilla. But you’d have to go without me, I don’t need a mate.” I interrupted her.
She slowly nodded, taking steps back. I smiled at the warriors to go with her if they wanted to know. They sluggishly left.
It was their right to know and find their mates, if it gave them happiness then I’d be happy.
But if any returned with a story like mine, he better be an Alpha King or else he’d be losing his head.
