Leslie had a long dream.
She went back to the age of around seven or eight inside the dream.
She was wearing a pink princess dress. Her daddy was holding her and fishing by the lake. When she was little she was mischievous. She likes to make trouble to get the attention of her parents.
She picked up some small stones and threw them into the water. The lake immediately swept up a layer of water, ripples after ripples.
Dad patted her cheeks and said, “Doesn’t Leslie like eating fish the most? You’ve scared away all the fish, how can we eat fish tonight?”
“How about I catch a fish for Dad? I’m good at it. Watch me catch a golden fish for dad later!”
She said this while holding up her skirt.
Then she was catching the fish at the water’s edge alone. Later she met Christopher.
She fell in love with the man at first sight.
She loved that man so much, but that man did not love her. Her father’s death was also because of him.
The scene shifted all of a sudden and she walked inside the hospital.
In the ward, her dad was lying on the bed weakly. The doctor kept using various instruments to save him.
But in the end, Dad passed away.
She kept feeling heartburn. She run to the hospital bed and knelt on the floor, kowtowing repeatedly.
“Dad, it is my fault. I am not supposed to love him.”
“Daddy, I won’t love him anymore. I will go home. I will never quarrel with you. It is my fault.”
Leslie sobbed uncontrollably.
At that moment, her father, who was lying on the bed, opened his eyes. He got up from the bed as if he was coming back to life.
Leslie stood up and jumped into her father’s arms immediately, “Dad, I knew you couldn’t let me go.”
“Good girl. Daddy has never been angry with you. You are a good girl for daddy. Daddy can’t let you go. I can’t let you stay in this world alone. Daddy can’t help you out if someone bullies you.”
Leslie shook his head. She still sobbed, “Dad, I want to be with you forever.”
The pain made her recall her carefree age. She learned to be pampered again, to learn how to be kind to herself.
At that moment the door opened. A baby in denim jumped in.
“Mummy, Mummy. Why did you abandon me?”
Leslie looked at this cute baby. She ignited a hot motherly love in her heart.
This baby with round eyes that look exactly like hers was so cute.
The child ran toward Leslie with her short legs. Her little pulled Leslie with her little hands, “Mom, you can’t abandon me this time.”
Suddenly, her father in the bed and the little baby said in same voice, “We have forgiven you. You can live with us!”
Leslie smiled and she felt unprecedented relaxed.
She was going to say ‘Yes”. Different voices rang in her ears.
These sounds were familiar, like she’d heard from somewhere before.
“Mr. Loomis, we have tried our best. I’m sorry that Mrs. Loomis has already died. Please restrain your grief.”
Leslie smiled. She was dead?
Christopher said if she died, he will set her free.
It’s a great thing to dead. She will be free. No longer need to tangle with him.
It doesn’t matter whether he owes her or she owes her.
Just let all the grudges drift away with the wind.
Three years later.
Christopher rubbed his forehead tiredly after dismissing the 25th blind date in the hotel.
Since Leslie’s death, his family has been constantly introducing him to other women.
Perhaps it was Leslie’s death that affected him too much. He has been under a spell for the past three years. He had no desire for other women’s bodies.
And he didn’t want to marry anyone else. He married Leslie only because she was Evelyn’s sister and gave her retribution.
Now that all grudges have been settled, he just wants to live his own life with Evelyn’s picture.
Back in that cold home, there was no one waiting for him at night.
He picked up Evelyn’s picture and wiped it over and over again. Although several years have passed, the frame still stands beam as new.
Perhaps because the life of one person is too lonely, he thought about Evelyn deeper and deeper.
