He’s Losing His Mind

I lowered my eyes and stayed in his arms quietly, “Good… Morning… sir” Miss Felicia sputtered, it was obvious that she was stunned to see the CEO carrying a mere assistant. I’m sure by now, she would believe the rumor that had been maneuvering around the company since morning. “I’m taking the day off, Felicia. Relate this to Mack and make sure you do your best in London” He says, without ceasing his steps to spare Felicia a glance. When he didn’t hear her say anything to what he had just said, he retreated his pace then turned back, “Do you understand?” He asked, with a composed look. The more I looked at his face, the more my heart raced. “Yes sir, I understand” She gabbled. I just smiled, burying my face onto his broad chest.
He trotted toward the lift, he was still carrying me like I weighed nothing. Jeez, I’ll start to eat up a lot now. Seeing him carrying me like this as if I’m a piece of paper, it’s quite embarrassing. As soon as I realized we were inside the lift, “Put me down now, come on” I urged him, he looked down into my eyes and said, “You have to get used to this” I was suddenly rendered speechless as I stared at his divine face. “This is an office, Alexander, what do you want people to start mumbling?” I asked him, taking a good look at his face at our close distance. But his face gradually darkened, his cold lips forming into a straight line. I was startled by the coldness in his eyes as I stiffened in his arms, without any gut to squirm. Have I said wrong? “What did you just say?” He asked in an extremely low voice, I gulped down nothing then answered, “I said, what do you want people to start mumbling about?” I said in a timid voice, clenching my dress in my hand and avoiding his eyes.
“Didn’t you just call me Alexander? Where’s the sir? Are you trying to let aside the formality just because I’m holding you up in my arms?” He shot a series of questions in a row, sounding so serious. Oh, he doesn’t want me to address him by his name? I thought he said he wants us to be together now, would I still have to address him as my boss? I thought in my mind but dared not to utter a single word. “I’m so sorry, sir,” I said meekly, still not daring to peek at his face. He suddenly burst into contagious laughter, but all I did was watch his face in complete awe. He looks cuter when he laughs. “I was just kidding babe, but you were already taking me so seriously” He clarifies, there was still a faded smile on his face. I twitched my lips, not liking to roll my eyeballs at that moment. How can he be joking but had such a severe look on his face? I remained in silence in his arms, hoping the elevator would stop soon.
“Are you mad at me now?” He asked cautiously and slowly reached over to kiss my lips, I tilted my head, which induced his soft lips to touch down my cheek. He didn’t seem to take offense as he nuzzled from my cheek to my neck with his lips, sucking on it softly. I sealed my lips in a tight line, enjoying every bit of it but wouldn’t like to make a sound. Ding! The elevator unexpectedly opened followed by a light gasp, “Good morning, Mr. Alexander” Two different voices greeted simultaneously, I rapidly planted my face onto his chest again, I was so bashful to look at anyone. “Yeah” That was all he could say as he walked past them, arriving at the reception. “Please Alexander, just put me down now” I mumbled against his manly chest, peeking at his face from time to time. Someone awkwardly cleared his or her throat, “Good morning, Mr. Alexander” followed by others’ voices, “Now, you all should keep your greetings to yourself. How many more times do you intend to greet me this morning?” He halted his pace, faced with them, and scowled. Gosh, he’s really losing his mind. He continued his walk, and after I realized that he had gotten outside, I rubbed out my face from his chest then heaved a sigh of relief.
“Alexander…” I was saying, “Stop moving, will you?” He warned in a low voice. I stared at his cold abyss countenance then sighed deeply, I gave up. He was barely close to the parking lot when we heard a familiar voice calling his name from behind, “Hold on, Alex” Oh my, that was Mack’s voice. However, he still didn’t put me down as he turned around to face Mack. “Hey Mack, I thought you weren’t in the office yet. I’m taking the day off, so I’m going back home” He told Mack the same thing he had said to Felicia earlier. Furthermore, I could hear Mack’s footsteps getting closer, then his stern voice came next, “What are you doing, Alex?” I shut my eyes likewise my fist curled tightly, “What do you mean, what am I doing?” Alexander asked, indifferently.
“This is a company Alex, and more so you’re the president, you know better than anyone else” Mack accused, voicing rigidly. “Take good care of things when you get to London, and I’ll make sure I contact the president of JK finance himself before the day runs out” He replied blandly, consciously ignoring all that Mack had just said. Subconsciously, I could tell Mack’s mouth would have fallen open in surprise. Without any further word, he whirled around and proceeded with his steps. “I’m sure you have no idea what the latest news is in the departments” Mack snarled, “Ensure you buzz me as soon as you arrived at your destination tomorrow” He squealed, not glancing back. “Fuck you, man! Don’t be surprised if you find yourself in the headlines tomorrow” Mack further shouted. As soon as he said that, he hummed then looked down at me, “Let’s make the headlines tomorrow, Kiara” My eyes and mouth widened in surprise, “What do… You mean by that?” He just smirks, without saying anything. “Here I am, sir,” said the young man I recognized as his driver. He put me up on his shoulder, so from his back, I watched as he stretched forth his hand to his driver, “Give me the immobilizer” He ordered in a light tone. His driver hesitated for a couple of seconds before he finally dropped the device in his hand.
Soon, he opened the passenger seat of his black Rolls-Royce, then dropped me on the seat. I readjusted my dress as I watch him veer around to the other side of the car with my shoulder hung on his shoulder. I chuckled lightly, thinking of what Mack had said a while ago. If a press should catch Alexander in such a ridiculous manner, then no doubt, he would make the headlines tomorrow. “Where are we going?” I asked him, immediately he sat behind the wheels. “To have breakfast” He replied simply then turned on the engine. “But I’m not hungry,” I told him sharply, he tilted his head to look at me then slowly leaned forward. Watching him get closer, I shuffled myself against the door, looking everywhere but his face. “Then you’re just going to watch me have my meal” His voice dropped to a husky whisper, which made me feel slightly itchy. Briskly, he helped me fasten my seatbelt then sat back on the driver’s seat. I looked out the window, feeling like a stream of warmth was traveling through my heart. Who created this man?
Half an hour later, the car rolled to a stop. I withdrew my arm from the window sill and sat up straight. Gazing at the majestic building, one could effortlessly tell it was a five-star eatery. There was a row of luxurious cars parking at the entrance. I puffed a sigh while I unfastened my seatbelt, I held up my bag and made to open the door but to my amazement, Alexander had opened it, standing at one side, it was then I discovered that he’d left the car. A sense of contentment arose in my heart but was quickly renewed with bitterness. What if all this were just a dream? What if I woke up one day and realized that I’ve just been hallucinating for a long time?
It seemed he noticed how uneasy I’ve become because he left where he was standing and came to collect my hand, tenderly. After he closed up the door, he linked his arm around mine as we both headed to the building. This whole time, he was smiling down at me like someone who had just won a prize. I am indeed happy, I’ve always wanted him for myself since the first time I met him. But at the same time, I am terrified. Nicholas was also like this in the beginning, until it turned out that he just wanted to play with my feelings.
