Alexander POV
I was knotting my tie in front of the dressing mirror when a soft knock came on the door. “Who’s it?” I asked, without taking my eyes away from the mirror.
“It’s me, Alex, can I come in?” I heard Granny’s voice and a warm smile covered my lips instantly.
I moved towards the door and opened it for her to come in. “Morning, granny” I smiled broadly at her, but she only scoffed as she scrutinized me.
“Don’t tell me you’re going to office, Alexander,” She walked into my room and says with a frown.
“Yes granny, I’m going to office”
Her eyes bulged upon hearing that.
“Are you kidding me right now?”
“Just last night, you were shivering with cold here, and now you’re telling me you’re going to office?” She rasped.
I hitched my forehead while I went closer to her.
“Granny…”
“No Alex, you’re not going anywhere till I’m convinced you are okay to work” She said obstinately.
“But granny, as you can see, I’m fine now”
She shook her head in approval, she took my hand and headed to the bed.
“Granny, please, I have to interview an employee today as well”
“Mack will take care of things, now lie down and get some rest,” She ordered as she made me sit down on the bed. I sighed.
“I’ll bring your breakfast now, so you would take some pills afterwards, okay?”
With my eyes on her, I stood up and embraced her, warmly.
“I love you, granny” I breathed, and I heard her chuckled.
“I love you more dear grandson, but don’t think about it”
I stood properly to watch her face and held her hands.
“Don’t be like this granny, I promise I’ll be okay, just let me go” I pouted my lips while giving her my puppy eyes.
She stared at my face for some time and then heaved a soft sigh.
“Okay, fine” She uttered.
I shut my eyes and squealed excitedly.
“But you’ll have to return home before your usual closing hour,” She instructed, sternly.
“Definitely, granny” I kissed her forehead and she offered her loving smile.
“Now hurry and come downstairs for breakfast,” She says as she proceeded towards the door.
“Will be there in a jiffy”
“By the way…” She turned around to face me again. I raised my eyebrows.
“I’ll be going to check on that girl after breakfast this morning, my anxiety won’t stop till I set my eyes on her again”
My brows creased, confused.
“The same girl I told you that ran into our car a few weeks ago,” She reminded with a snap of fingers.
“Oh… But can’t you just check on her over the phone?”
“I told you I forgot to request for her contact that night, besides, it would be more appropriate to check on her in person” She replied, and I nodded in agreement.
“Do you want me to come with?”
A happy smile covered her face instantly, and I wondered why.
“No son, you have to go to work”
“But I would like you to meet her very soon” She shot me a mischievous smile and started walking to the door.
“You’ll like her, Alex,” She tilted her head back and says before she finally walked out.
I shook my head and smiled, while walking into the dressing room to pick a shoe I would be wearing.
Kiara POV
The cab screeched and halted. I looked out from the window, but what my gaze landed on made my heart skipped twice.
“Alexander group of companies” I murmured, with my eyes still fixed on the inscription above the company.
I knew it!
Since I received a mail from this same name yesterday, then I should have known, but my conscious mind keeps telling me it’s not the same Alexander.
“We’re here, ma’am,” The driver’s voice jerked me out of my thought. I swallowed hard before getting off the cab. I’m only doing this for Nicholas. I gave the cab driver some cash and made to turn around.
“Ma’am, your change!” The cab driver shrilled.
“You can keep the change, sir” I told him with a light smile and his face brightened.
“Thank you so much ma’am, may God bless you abundantly” He enthused, and I just nodded and walked away.
After I passed through the security men at the gate, imagine, they were trying to flirt with me on my first day. I began to dart my eyes around in amusement, though, my anxiety kept growing intense as I counted my steps closer, but I couldn’t help it- every bit of this place marvels me.
There were many cars parked in the parking lot.
I wonder where the main gate is located because I learnt that the one over here is just a mini gate.
I got to the entrance, the swing door opened automatically and then closes after I stepped in.
“Whoa…” I mumbled.
It was spacious, and as expected, there was an elevator at the corner side.
I stood rooted, watching as everyone did their businesses strictly. There were countless doors in the reception, where people came in and went back from- no one notices my presence… Uhmm.
“Excuse me” I heard a feminine voice from my right-hand side and I quickly turned to the direction.
“Hello, ma’am, how may I help you?” She asked amiably, and I gulped before speaking.
“Good morning, please I’m here for an interview” I told her, obviously she’s the receptionist.
“For the Personal Assistant job?” She asked and I nodded curtly.
“Oh, you’re welcome ma’am, I received a call from his secretary just now, she said you should come up immediately you arrive” She explained. “Please take the elevator to the last floor, you’ll meet the secretary as soon as you stepped out,” She Instructed.
I smiled, “Thank you” I told her and turned away.
“One more thing” Her voice stopped me and I turned to face her again.
“You’re beautiful” She complimented, and I think my cheek flushes.
“I appreciate, ma’am,” I told her with a small bow before proceeding towards the lift.

“Good morning” I greeted the young lady I presumed was the secretary. She glanced up from the monitor on her table.
“Morning, you’re here for the interview, right?” She asked, sounding so strict.
“Yes”
“Have your seat, I’ll be right back,” She pointed at the waiting chair behind me. I nodded and went to sit on it.
I watched as she knocked on the door next to her before going in. She came out almost immediately.
“You can go in,” She said to me before returning to her seat.
I slowly got on my feet, I walked to the door feebly and also knocked softly on it.
“Come in,” I heard from inside. I adjusted the red pencil skirt I was wearing, I breathe in and out and twisted the doorknob.
I entered the enormous office and began to count my steps to the CEO’s table.
With my eyes fixed on my feet,
“Good morning, sir” I greeted, politely.
“Yeah, morning, so you’re here to…” He paused and I gulped.
Huh?
Why did he stop talking?
Was he going to complain about my dress?
Didn’t I park my hair properly?
Did I have something on my face?
Gosh!
Why was he not saying anything again?
I swallowed my saliva as many questions kept swaying in my head.
“You…” He was saying, but stopped again.
Okay… What’s going on?
I eventually looked up at his face, and I think my heart fell off my chest immediately.
Oh, my…
He’s the CEO!
And I’m about to become his personal secretary?
Christ!
I knew this was a bad idea, I knew it!
Damn you, Nicholas!
We equally kept each other’s gazes, as no one was willing to look away.
His mouth had fallen agape in the process while I was trying to catch my own breath.
You’re screwed, Kiara!
