Chapter 43

Book:Alpha's Puppet  Published:2024-5-1

Brian’s words left Alpha Jax in fear. He is surprised that such a thing happened in the wolf world, and he did not know about it. Well, it’s not Shane’s fault. He has not been attending hiss council meetings. He has been more about himself and his sex slaves.
Alpha Jax wondered what situation led to Shane Moss killing his Alpha. The last time he saw Shane Moss, he stood behind his alpha, with his eyes full of tears, while he (Jax) took away Benjamin, Shane Moss’s mate. Alpha Jax guessed what it was that encouraged Shane Moss to kill his Alpha. If it was the hatred for him or the hatred for his Alpha. Either way, he knew Shane Moss would come to destroy him.
“So far, how many packs has he been able to mobilize,” Jax asked Brian.
“Enough to defeat you, My Alpha,” Brian replied.
“He has been feeding on the inner hatred many packs has for you. They all want to see you fall. Either because they are just jealous or they have a grudge against you,” Brian added.
Alpha Jax rested his back on the arm of the chair he was sitting on. He was not expecting this.
“But for now, nothing has happened enough for you to attack him first. That would be the best course of action, but he has the support of most packs,” Brian said.
Alpha Jax did not say a word more. He was short of words. He is worried about his reputation and how he had fallen out of favor with members of his pack. He fears if his pack members are going to fight for him, it would be more about protecting themselves rather than loving him. Their loyalty won’t be towards him.
“What do you suggest I do?” Alpha Jax asked Brian.
“Well, you should go back to your pack. Talk to your council. Look for a way of defending yourself against this,” Brian advised him.
“I have to go now, before my absence is noticed in my pack,” Brian announced.
“I know. Thank you for all you do Brian. I appreciate you. I really do,” Jax said. He stood up and hugged him. Brian walks towards the window.
“How is your relationship with any mate coming up? Or you won’t get any till your days of glory are over?” Brian teased Jax. Jax smiled. There was no need to get angry or argue with Brian over him getting a mate or not. There are more pressing matters at hand. Immediately Brian jumped out of the window, Jax knew he needed to get home. He needed to take his wolfsbane to help home get through these emotions. Especially the fear in him. He needs to get over it. He needs not let that bother him.
Alpha Jax walked out of the room. He went to the elevator. He punched the number of the floor he was to return to and he waited anxiously, but patiently. The elevator dings, and he is back to where he left Benjamin. Benjamin seems to be blending well with the place. He kept on looking at the men around and other things. Alpha Jax coilt tell that he is enjoying the place. He shakes his head to the beat of the subtle music being played. He has his bottle of non-alcoholic drink before him, in which he has drunk half of it.
Alpha Jax wonders what’s going on in his head. He fears he might already know about Shane Moss killing his Alpha. He wonders if they both planned it, and on one of the rare occasions that Alpha Jax is vulnerable with Benjamin, he might take the opportunity to kill him. Then their mission would be complete. They will be reunited as Alphas of both packs, and other packs they might conquer. Alpha Jax was being practical in his thoughts. Despite being the Alpha, he did not want to overestimate his abilities. He could kill Benjamin at the moment, but he knew that would mean he has no trump card to use against Shane’s attack.
He walked up to Benjamin. He knocked on the table to get his attention.
“Alpha Jax, you are back,” Benjamin greeted him with a broad smile.
“Hmm!” Alpha Jax replied with a sigh. He did not bother to look at Benjamin. He only removed his credit card from his pocket and passed it to the barman. He watches the barman punch the keys to activate his machine, while he uses his wolf instinct to watch Benjamin. He tried to sniff what emotions were in him, but he could only perceive a bland Jax. Nothing out of the ordinary in his actions.
“Let’s go!” Alpha Jax announced coldly. Benjamin took his bottle of drink and followed Alpha Jax.
Benjamin did not notice anything out of the blues with Alpha Jax’s behavior. It’s the usual man that he has always been. A man who could be your friend for a moment, and at the turn of a head, he will become as cold as a dead man. Both of them walked towards Alpha Jax’s car. On the far side of the road, Benjamin saw Peter Hawk amidst three other men. They were stealing glances at him. He felt disgusted by their ideals. He made the men know that he noticed their gaze. He stared at them too. They averted their eyes and walk away.
“What is it? Will you hop in and let’s get the hell out of here?” Alpha Jax snapped at him.
“Sorry! I was just looking at some people across the road,” he replied.
“Who?”
“Well, when you left, a man walked up to him. He called himself Peter Hawk,” Benjamin said. He looked from the windows of the glass, and he saw them walking away. He turned back at his Alpha, and saw Alpha Jax’s harsh gaze on him.
“Oh no! This is not a man I have interest in. Although he is an interesting man, his ideals are barbaric. He is a member of the pacifist rogue pack,”
