Chapter 40

Book:Alpha's Puppet  Published:2024-5-1

“You know I don’t really care much about what you do to her or how you do it,” Benjamin replied Alpha Jax’s question of why is he so interested in what he does to Ava.
“She is not just your sex slave, but she is human too,” Benjamin said again. He knew his words did not matter but he does not mind.
“What are they saying about her?”
“Who?”
“The other slaves of mine,” Jax said with his eyes fixed on the road. He did not bother to look at Benjamin.
“Some of them think she is using dark magic to bewitch you?”
“Magic from outside the moon goddess?” Alpha Jax asked.
“Yes! And some believe you love her?” Benjamin lied.
“What sacrilegious rumors do those people pass?” Alpha Jax scoffed. He kept driving. He didn’t say anything. Benjamin knew he must have hit a spot in him. He knew the Old Alpha Jax. He would have flared up on such accusations and promised to make everyone who shared such rumors suffer. But he kept on driving.
Benjamin didn’t want to take a guess. He did not want to believe the goddess would curse and hate Ava so much that she would make her Alpha Jax’s mate. They drove past streets that Benjamin knew before he met the Alpha.
They got to the hotel, and they walk up to the bar. Alpha Jax caught the attention of everyone in the room. People stole glances at him, but he did not care about any of them. He sat on a stool before the barman.
“Give me a whole bottle of Punch,” Jax said. Benjamin looked at him. He wondered what meeting they had come for. He smiled at his Alpha.
“Give him whatever he wants,” Alpha Jax told the barman. It was the same man who was there the last time Benjamin came. The man who acted like Benjamin was not existing or as if he was not there.
“Oh! Good sir. What do you want?” The man asked him.
“Anything that tastes good and is not alcoholic?” Benjamin frowned at the Barman for his reaction. Jax looked at Benjamin.
“What? I just want to have a clear head.”
After a few minutes, Jax stood up.
“You should wait here,” he ordered Benjamin.
“Are you sure you want me to stay back?”
“Is that not what I said?” Jax raised his voice at Benjamin. He walked into an elevator. He punched it and right before Benjamin, the door closed.
“It’s not always good when they act all high and mighty, is it?” A harsh voice whispered from behind Benjamin. Benjamin turned. It’s a man around the same age as Benjamin would be if he were human. He is dressed in a summer shirt and shorts.
“Excuse me?” Benjamin asked.
“I meant those Alphas. They believe they are superior don’t they?” The man before Benjamin said.
“Alpha’s? Who are you?”
“Oh! My bad. I did not introduce myself. I am Peter. Peter Hawk. And you are?”
“I am Benjamin. How do you know what he is?”
“Oh! I am a shapeshifter too. Except I do not belong to any pack that has a law or social construct of the Alpha or beta or omega or things like that?”
“How do you survive? And where is your pack?”
“My pack is everywhere that I am. And I am able to survive because I am able to make decisions on things affecting my pack. There is no oppression or submission to anyone,”
“I know who you are now! You are of a rogue pack.” Benjamin screamed.
“I know you too. You were stolen from your pack after all,”
“What do you say?” Benjamin stood up and walked towards Peter.
“Calm down man! I am just letting you know, you can always redeem yourself in a world without Alphas,” Peter said and turned away from Benjamin. Benjamin went back to his seat. He laughed at how ridiculous the idea of a rogue pack is.
They are trying to live like normal wolves. They believe they care for each other and show more love than the usual packs. They must have forgotten that werewolves are violent creatures. No matter the situation they are in. They are violent.
But now these wolves are trying to be a pacifist group of wolves with everyone’s opinion standing. No major center of authority. They want to reduce themselves to the level of mere wolves. Benjamin would not be a part of such a thing. He would rather remain a sex slave than being a member of such rejects.
Benjamin sat on his chair before the barman. He thought of Ava. How well he could get to her. How can she make her fall in love with him? Maybe if she falls in love, the Alpha would release her. And there would be no hope. of her being his mate.
Benjamin does not know what is possible and what is not. He knew meeting his mate Shane Moss would no longer be possible. Shane Moss’s Alpha had struck a deal with Alpha Jax, and had commanded Shane never to confront Benjamin. But Benjamin knew one of these days, they would meet. After five years, the effect of that decree must have reduced. Apart from making sure Alpha Jax never meets his mate, Benjamin plans on getting back with his mate.
He smiled at himself and looked towards the door of the elevator Alpha Jax took. Benjamin knew these coming days would be tedious for him. He would have to plan and scheme. He needs to fight for his survival. Although as tempting as living without an Alpha sound, Benjamin is a traditionalist. He would rather do an outright rebellion than that.
Benjamin knew he had to start moving his pawns and start playing his cards right. And he knew the first one that has to be done is conquering Ava’s heart and making her hate Alpha Jax more than she has.
“Goddess of the moon, please do help me,” he prayed silently.
