“Mother! It’s not now it seems. Lily might be overestimating the issue at hand. We had misalignment of interest with so many of these packs, but we put some in their place and those we can’t fight, we created a business relationship with them,” Jax defended himself.
“So?”
“In all honesty, I have more business related packs than father did. And we call each other allies. She thinks they need to trust us without any business relationship,” Jax said.
“I would have said that Lily you are a woman and you know nothing of politics, but I am a woman myself and your father sought me for political advice. I am not here for that. I am here for your mate, Jax!” She called him.
“I know.”
“And you have to grow out of what miserable life you have been living ever since you had your heartbreak,” she ordered him.
“I have heard.”
“I wonder what sort of man are you? You are scared of women?”
“That’s not what it is. I just…” he looked away. His mother looked at him and smiled. Then she frowned.
“Lily, what has he been doing?” Alpha’s mother asked.
“What do you mean?”
“What has he been taking? His wolf’s will is not as strong as it used to be?” Their mother said. “It feels like you are deliberately weakening yourself.
“And why would I do that? Why will I-” a knock on the door interrupted him. And the squeezing of the doorknob followed. The door opened ajar, and Ava came in. Jax looked at Ava. Lily gasped. Their mother frowned
“Hello?” Ava greeted everyone, not sure of what situation she walked right into. She looked at Lily.
“You called for me, Alpha Jax,” she said. She stood on her knees and kept looking at her feet. Alpha Jax understands her. He had ordered her never to look him in the eyes.
“Dear moon goddess, what is this? Who are you?” The former Luna walked towards Ava. She smiled at her. She held her face and kissed her forehead.
Alpha Jax and Lily were confused and at the same time relieved. He stayed back from his mother. He hoped she would not mention her being his mate. It would be sacrilegious and he would not know what to do. He might have to kill her. If anyone is supposed to be his Luna, it doesn’t have to be Ava. She is not the one.
“Mother, do you know her?” Lily asked.
“No! I don’t. But she looks pure. She has a nice aura all around her. The moon goddess has blessed her. I like her. Who is she?” The former Luna asked. Jax saw the smile on his mother’s face. It’s not the kind of smile she gives to random people. The last time he received a broad smile from his mother was during his coronation as the Alpha.
“She is one of the maids around,” Jax replied.
“She is my maid,” Lily said.
“Oh! A maid. Maybe one day when you get your freedom, you could come to serve the moon goddess. You seem like a blessed fellow,” The former Luna said. She removed her hands from Ava’s face. She returned to her seat. She looked at Alpha Jax who had his eye on Ava. His heartbeat rose but his mother did not notice that.
“What? Why do you keep looking at her?” The former Luna snapped at her son.
“Nothing! I was sending her a message through my mind,” he replied.
Alpha Jax’s mother left after she warned him not to think of not getting a mate anytime soon. Preferably before the year runs out. He promised her he would and she left. He already dismissed Ava not long after his mother accessed her.
“Ava! Get to my office as soon as possible,” he ordered. He paced around. He picked up his bottle of mistletoe and took a gulp from it. He felt a cold sensation in his chest again. It feels like his heart is constricting, but he ignored it. He believes taking the mistletoe would allow him to have no care for her. He paced around his room till he heard a knock on his door.
“Come in,” he ordered. Ava walked in and he dragged her closer to himself.

The moment Ava received the sensation from her Alpha’s message, she stood up. Her wolf purred. It hasn’t made a sound in the last few days, and Ava is a bit surprised to see her jubilating, at the call of the Alpha.
“You could have told his mother we are his mate,” the wolf said.
“Does that man look like he is interested in either of us? I won’t let my life be in danger because I tried getting him. Forget it, we will win him some other way,” Ava replied to her wolf telepathically.
“I miss him.”
“What? You miss who?” Ava screamed.
“He is our mate, and I miss the sex.”
“The sex that I suffer for,”
“To an extent, it’s enjoyable to you too, isn’t it?” The wolf said. Ava stopped walking. Wolves are a distinct being that do not share all the reality of their human soul and body. And this made Ava hate the fact that she cannot hit her wolf.
“Enjoyable? Being pounded with hatred is supposed to be enjoyable? Do you know how sore I get?” Ava replied before she began moving.
“Then let’s do it my way.”
“Your way? Your way which includes you coming out and threatening him or seducing him?” Ava asked.
“Yes!” The wolf whined
“He is an Alpha. With just a fucking roar, you are gone. And I will be left to suffer. No! We will never do it your way!” Ava sounded assertively. By now, she is already on her way into her Alpha’s room. She knocked on the door. He asked her to come in. And immediately she stepped into her office, he drew her hard and tight to himself.
