Book:Daddy's Girl Published:2024-5-1

Anna has managed to get herself a job, after two weeks of job hunting, she was on the verge of giving up when the last company she applied for called her up that she got the job, the position of being the personal assistant.
Even though the payment wasn’t up to half of what she got at McArthur she was grateful, she was happy to be working again.
There was a soft knock on the door, by now, Anna knew who it was, by now she had gotten used to receiving gifts at five in the evening.
Just when she was contemplating on moving to another city, but she couldn’t, Allen wouldn’t stop sending gifts and calling her, everything he did was an apology and Anna wondered why he was apologizing now when he could have done it a long time ago and even when he came over to her house the last time and they had sex.
Why was it when she left McArthur he decided to apologize? And besides why didn’t he show up in person.
And by now, she figured out he must figured out that she stopped going for basketball practice, because the contract hasn’t been terminated but Allen would still be able to find her there, and she doesn’t want to have anything to do with him, as much as it hurt, she wished he would show up in person and tender his apology.
A part of her misses him but for the sake of her life, she would stay away, she didn’t know what his mother was capable of doing and she didn’t even want to try and mess with her, Evelyn had also stayed away from her and Anna was happy about that even when the two of them run into each other at anywhere, they do their best to ignore one another, no hard feelings but it was better than being fake and Anna doesn’t like fake people.
One month of working at new job and she feels at peace, as she dressed up to work and taking a last look at herself in the mirror, she was good to go, she walked all the way to the bus stop and flagged down a taxi, humming along to the song that was playing from the radio.
As soon as she stepped into the company, the secretary relayed the manager’s message to her, Anna quickly went to see him.
“Good morning sir, I got your message.” Anna smiled.
The manager looked at her and handed her a letter, she collected it from him and her smiled faltered.
Anna left with her heart heavy, she had been fired without a reason, her little world was crumbling down right in front of her and there was nothing she could do about it.
After crying her eyes out, she made herself a cup of hot chocolate and fished out for the cookies in the fridge, turning on the television, she was about settling into her meal when someone knocked on her door.
“Isn’t it too early for apology delivery?” Anna wondered and went to open the door.
There he was standing on her porch, dressed in an expensive suit and looking handsome as ever, holding a bouquet of flower and a wine.
“I’m sorry Anna. I know I’ve been such a jerk, forgive me.”
Anna blinked and ushered him inside the house.
“So you’re the reason I got fired.” She folds her hands and quirked her mouth.
“It was the only way.” He answered.
“Haven’t you ruined my life enough.”
“It’s the reason I’m here to make amendments.”
“No, don’t worry, I can’t take care of myself, I don’t want you in my life.”
“When you say stuff you don’t mean, you lips shakes.”
“Not funny.” She said.
“I’m sorry, I know I should have done a long time, since the day I fired Beatrice and I had the chance to do so when I came the other day.”
“Don’t say it.” She held up a finger, “the day you came to use me as the prostitute that I am.”
“I didn’t use you, Anna and you’re not a prostitute. You’re someone I love and adore.”
Anna rolled her eyes, she didn’t want to believe him.
“If you’re scared about my mother and Evelyn, I put them In place and you don’t have to worry about them anymore, Anna please forgive me.”
“Allen, please, I’ve had enough trouble in my life and I don’t want more.”
“No one would trouble you aside me.” He smiled at her.
She smiled back at him and collected the flower, sniffling it.
“I should open a flower store asap.” Anna laughed, “thank you.”
“I can help you with that, A&A flower shop. 50% discount because the shop is new.” Allen said.
“A&A, you mean Anna and Allen? That’s beautiful.”
Allen move closer to her, caressing her hair, he kissed her forehead and hugged her, “I miss you baby.”
“I miss you too. Promise you won’t let anything come in between us.”
“I promise, it’s you and I against the world.”  Allen promised.
“Pinky promise?” Anna said holding out her pinky finger, Allen put his finger in hers like a lock and pinky promised her.
Anna squealed and ran around the living room while Allen stood and watched her, he was glad they settled their dispute and got back with each other.
He dialed his sister’s number and she picked on the first ring, she switched the call to face time video.
“What’s up?”
“She has forgiven me, I am in her house.”
“You finally apologized in person, that’s great.” Sally said giving him the thumb up finger, “Is she the one squealing?”
“Yes, she’s happy we are back together.” Allen answered, “Anna, come here.”
“Sally?”
“Hi Anna, thank you for forgiving my brother.”
“She’s more beautiful than the picture you showed me, Allen.”
“What picture?” Sally inched closer to the screen, tell me it’s not my baby picture.
“Well, it was a picture of you on your eighteenth birthday.”
“Phew! Thank God.” Sally breathed out.
“I did see the baby picture, you were cute.” Anna said, laughing.
“I’ll kill Allen.” Sally screamed and they all laughed, “I’m sorry about our mother though, she can be much overbearing.”
“I wonder how y’all coped.”
“Anna, we’re alive.” Sally smiled, “it’s good to see you both happy.”
“Thank you Sally.” Anna said.
“I gotta go now, I’m heading to library with my friends in five minutes time. Love you guys, bye.”
“Love you too sis.” Allen said and hung up.
“I like her.” Anna smiled.
“She likes you too.” Allen said, taking off his suit jacket, he pulled her close to him and kissed her unaware, Anna slapped his chest but didn’t break the kiss.
