The following day, Robin followed Elise to a cafe.
Entering, Robin glanced through and saw a chubby man sitting at the reserved table. He wore sunglasses, followed by two bodyguards in black.
“How are you, Mr. Bolton. I hope you didn’t wait too long,” Elise greeted the chubby man.
“Nice to meet you, Ms. Houry. And who is this?”
Mr. Bolton glanced at Robin.
“Robin Bailey, my husband,” Elise made the introduction gracefully.
After sitting down, Elise said to Robin, “This is Mr. Herman Bolton from Hercules Properties, our client.”
“Nice to meet you,” Robin greeted Herman Bolton.
“I heard of you before, Robin Hailey.”
A smile touched Herman’s lips. Seven years ago, Robin was homeless but had a one-night stand with Elise, the most beautiful woman in Stillwater.
It was shocking news in town at that time.
Herman also knew Robin was poor. Although he had returned to Stillwater, he was working as a security guard. Therefore, Herman thought he was still good for nothing.
The longer Herman looked at Robin, the more disdainful he looked.
Elise pulled out a file from her briefcase and passed it to Herman. “Mr. Bolton, this is the project service fee your company should pay us. Here is the accounting sheet in detail. 2. 4 million dollars in total.”
Her mission today was to collect the debt from Herman.
Herman picked the sheet up and glanced at it. Then he put it down and said, “The accounting is correct.”
“That’s good.”
Delighted, Elise asked, “Would you like to write a check or wire it to our bank account?”
“A moment, please. I haven’t finished yet. I’m willing to pay the fee, but my company lacks money now. We developed two apartment complexes but couldn’t sell them. Besides, we have fund disputes with other companies. We lack working capital.”
Herman knocked at the table and pushed the file back to Elise. “Sorry, but you need to wait for this fee.”
“Wait again? Mr. Bolton, you’re supposed to pay the fee by the end of last month. We’ve waited for an extra month already. How could we wait longer?”
Elise looked annoyed.
Herman delayed paying the rest service fee for this project. Even if saving the 2. 4 million dollars in the bank account or spending it on another project, it could gain almost 60, 000-dollar interest for a month. Besides, this was the third time Elise urged him to pay the debt.
“Ms. Houry, it’s not my fault. My company has encountered some financial problems. Why don’t you lend me another two million dollars? After resolving the problems of those two apartment complexes, I’ll return all the money to you. What do you say?” Herman suggested seriously, tabbing the table.
Elise couldn’t utter a word.
Another two million dollars? She was sure they would never return to her. In the end, they might see each other in court, and the lawsuit would take another six months.
“Mr. Bolton, as far as I know, your company has no fund disputes with any other companies. Hercules Properties is still operating as usual. Please stop kidding me and pay the service fee, as you’ve confirmed.”
Elise pointed at the accounting sheet, frowning.
“I know.”
Herman threw his hands up while leaning against the back of his chair, looking arrogant. “However, I don’t have money to pay you. Besides, Lucas Corporation contacted me. You should know what I mean.”
“Lucas Corporation again?”
Elise jumped to her feet in anger. She was assigned to several jobs relevant to Lucas Corporation in a row. Evidently, Lucas Corporation deliberately wanted to give her a hard time. Gritting her teeth, she said, “Please excuse me. I’ll be right back.”
She went to the ladies’ room.
Right then, Herman received a call. “What? A B-list superstar? 100, 000 dollars a night? Not expensive at all. I have money. I’ll be right there.”
After the call ended, Herman picked up his purse and was about to leave, ignoring Robin and Elise.
However, Robin darted at him and asked, “Did I allow you to leave?”
“Are you talking to me?”
Herman was taken aback, looking at his bodyguards to confirm. The two men nodded at him, meaning Robin did talk to him.
Herman returned to the seat with an ironic smile, supported the desk, and looked at Robin playfully. “Do you know who you are talking to, stray dog?”
“Stray dog?”
Robin sneered, “This is the first time I heard someone calling me that to my face.”
“Why? Stray dog. Are you mad? Unfortunately, what can you do? You are a good-for-nothing. If you were not lucky back then, how could you bang Elise Houry? You’ve used up all the lucks in your life. Better not look for trouble.”
Laughing aloud, Herman was about to leave again.
However, Robin asked coldly, “Did I allow you to leave?”
“Provoke me, huh? Who do you think you are? You’re just the live-in son-in-law of the Houry family. How dare you make trouble for me! Hit him!”
Herman pointed at Robin unhappily.
“Yes, Mr. Bolton,” his bodyguards answered.
They often dealt with people making trouble for Herman, so they were used to it.
Herman flinched to leave them some space, watching the fun. He didn’t mind teaching Robin a lesson so Robin would know the consequences.
His two bodyguards exchanged a grin and rushed to Robin on either side, wishing to grip his shoulders.
However, when the left one’s hand approached, Robin gripped the bodyguard’s hand immediately.
“Idiot!”
The bodyguards laughed, wondering if Robin was a simpleton as Robin actively gripped his hand. He tightened his muscles, ready to crush Robin’s palm.
However, the more he increased his strength, the paler he looked. In the end, his face twisted in pain.
“Did you have your kicks?” Robin asked gently.
Blue veins popped on the bodyguard’s forehead and neck, his face reddish. He was soaked in cold sweats.
“You are risking your neck, brat!”
The other bodyguard gave Robin a spin kick fiercely and quickly, the wind whistling. He had used all his strength. If kicked, Robin’s head would be exploded.
“Well, YOU are risking your neck.”
Robin could tell this bodyguard aimed to kill him, a murderous look flashing through his eyes. Without hesitation, he grabbed the bodyguard’s leg and twisted it. A crisp click sounded in the cafe.
Then he tossed the bodyguard to the road outside the window.
Releasing the other bodyguards, Robin stood up.
“Argh!” the bodyguards howled in pain, covering his palm.
Each bone in his palm grabbed by Robin had been crushed completely.
The onlookers were scared away after seeing such a fierce fight.
“What is going on?”
Herman watched his bodyguards groaning in pain on the ground with a baffled expression. Both his bodyguards resigned from the special forces. Each of them could win against ten enemies and had never been defeated.
In his opinion, Robin was a loser relying on his wife’s money.
Herman was shocked. How could others tell him Robin was a good-for-nothing?
He was at a loss.
