The sun set was In the sky, and it was very high, the brightness in the rays shone into the room, and it reflected on Aurora’s face, she blinked her eyes repeatedly and yawned. She tried to stretch, but she realized a head was on her arm.
She opened and saw the king sleeping in her arms, then it dawned on her that she slept in the king’s chamber, fear ensued instantly, hoping the king had not seen her face.
Seeing how the king sleeps with his eyes closed, and his head still in her arms made her conclude that he has not woken up since last night.
Aurora wished she could be with the king this way forever, but it was just a hopeless wish.
Gently she removed the king’s head from her arms, and slumped from the bed, she looked into Malik’s eyes, she wondered how he sleep so sweetly, she wishes he will be this sweet in reality.
Afterward, she walked towards the door and closed the door slowly after her so as not to wake the king up.
“The king didn’t know I slept here, he told me last night not to sleep in his room, cause he dislikes it,” Aurora told Evans, she was about to turn around when queen Nneka arrived at the scene.
She came early in the morning, to find out that the woman that hindered the king from coming into her chamber, she expected to meet Xena in the room, because he heard Evans and her maid’s discussion last night.
“Good morning your Highness” Evans greeted the queen with a bow, Aurora stood there looking at her sister’s face, with smiles on her eyes, she missed her sister so much, she felt like jumping on her and hugged her.
Also she was happy, because she thought she was here to save her.
When Evans didn’t hear Aurora greeting the queen, he looked up and saw Aurora looking at the Queen intently, instantly he bent her head down forcefully, and a painful groan escaped Aurora’s mouth.
Aurora looked at Evans with a deadly stare “What?” she said with gritted teeth.
“She is the queen,” Evans said, signaling her to greet the Queen.
“Leave her, she just didn’t know who I was,” Nneka said with a pretentious smile.
“Okay, Your Highness,” Evans said.
“Thanks your Highness” Aurora said
“I’m here to see the king, please announce to me” Nneka had not finished speaking when Aurora interrupted her.
“Your Highness, the king is still sleeping,” Aurora said out of jealousy and care for the king, she didn’t want her to see the king, also she didn’t want her to disturb the king’s sleep.
The way Aurora responded sharply, made Evans and the queen exchange gazes.
“Ohhhh! Okay, I guess I would have to come back” the Queen replied slowly.
“Yes my queen, I will inform the king you branch in his chamber,” Evans said.
Nneka turned to go, but suddenly she turned around and faced Evans.
“Please I would want her to follow me,” Queen Nneka said, referring to Aurora.
Evans understood the queen and signaled Aurora to follow her, and Aurora followed the queen immediately.
She walked behind the Queen, none speaking to each other until they reached the empty hallway, Nneka looked around and saw that there was no sight of anyone coming.
She halted and faced Aurora.
“How are you doing, Aurora?” Nneka said in a caring tone.
“I’m fine, Nneka, did father send you here? she asked out of her curiosity.
“What do you think I’m doing here? He sent me here to save you out of the Palace,” Nneka said smiling.
“Though we haven’t been a good sister back in our community, we miss the fight, the argument everything about you Aurora, that is why I’m here to save you out of here,” Nneka said and looked at Aurora’s face to see the reaction.
She wants to know if Aurora believed her words since they haven’t treated Aurora fairly back in their community, Nneka’s and her mother used every opportunity they got to torment her, if not for what Nneka said, she wouldn’t have believed that she came to the Malik community to save her.
Leaving the hurt, the past pain they have caused Aurora, she walked forward and hugged Nneka tightly.
“I miss you too, and I have forgiven all your wrong behavior towards me,” Aurora said as she hugged her.
Enjoy the hug why it lasts, I will use you to win against the King concubine, and I will dispose of you later- runs in Nneka’s mind.
After a brief silent moment between them, they disengaged the hug and smiled at each other.
“Tell me Aurora, who is with the king last night in his chamber?,” Nneka asked
“No one, ” Aurora replied.
”Are you sure?” she asked.
“Yes,” she replied.
“Okay, but I will need your help in the Palace, to save you. I want to capture the king’s heart, and I think you would be able to help, I want to distance him from the other women in the palace, I mean his concubines, especially concubine Xena, I will need your help to win against them” Nneka said.
“Okay” Aurora stuttered, she wondered if her sister had fallen in love with the king already.
“This place is not conducive, I think it is better we discuss the plans in my chamber later in the evening,” Nneka said to Aurora and discharged her to carry out her morning activities.
She stood and watched how Aurora walked away- A devilish smile let out of her mouth, she took Aurora as a fool to believe her so easily, though her elder sister Princess Daisy wanted her to execute Aurora fastly, yet she wanted to delay the death so that she could use Aurora for her gains.
“Dumb,” Nneka said and she walked back to the chamber.
