Third person’s point of view.
Jimmy just got home rather late because there was heavy traffic. He threw his keys on the table immediately he entered his house, and proceeded to his room for a quick shower.
But stopped abruptly, in shock, when he felt his phone vibrating in his pocket. He quickly reached for it, and checked the caller’s ID, then let out a tired groan as he glared harshly at the phone’s screen when he saw who was calling.
He tossed the phone on his bed, intending on ignoring the call, then proceeded to take off his shirt and pants. He had left his towel on the bed earlier, he reached for it and tied it loosely around his waist.
But unfortunately, he didn’t get to make it to the bathroom because his phone rang continuously, and he knew better than to continue ignoring it.
“Yeah?” he answered the call, with a deep frown on his face.
“What took you so long to answer your phone?” A gruff voice asked from the other side.
“I was in the bathroom” Jimmy lied smoothly and confidently, making it sound as though he were saying the truth.
There was a long silence.
“Is she coming to the gala?” he asked further.
“Yes, I just invited her”
“Good”
Jimmy’s brows furrowed as a thought crossed his mind.
“What is your relationship with her? How did you know her? What is the connection?” he asked.
There was another silence from this man, but it wasn’t as long as the first.
“You are not entitled to know all that” was the man’s reply.
“Oh, really?” Jimmy cleared his throat. “Well, I told you before you got me out that Ella is the woman I love, and I believe that gives me the right to ask what you want with her, right?”
There was silence for a moment.
“Yes, but it’s also my right to reply or not”
Jimmy clenched his jaw at those words, and ground his teeth as his grip on his phone tightened.
“Then I won’t help you if you don’t tell me what you want from her, after all, I’m your only connection with her right now”
“Don’t get so cocky with me, boy. I can kill you and get someone else to do the job for me”.
Jimmy scoffed. “Ella is a smart lady, a total stranger can’t fool her because she has her walls built very high”
“You…”
“You promised she won’t get hurt in all of this” Jimmy interrupted him. “Now I’m asking you a simple question, and you would rather not answer me…are you trying to go back on your promise?”
A loud bang and crash sounded from the other side of the phone, but Jimmy seemed to care less.
“You are getting on my nerves, boy, don’t make me throw you back in jail” the man threatened.
“I’d rather go back to jail, but I’d never hurt the woman I love, sir”
Jimmy walked towards the bedside table, his eyes were fixed on Stella’s photo standing on it, and he couldn’t help the smile that crept up his face.
“There are some papers in my possession, and I need her to sign them”
“Who are you to her?” Jimmy asked.
“Her uncle”
“Her uncle?” Jimmy was shocked at this piece of information. “Ella, has an uncle?” he thought out loud.
“I’m her father’s younger brother”

“Hey, don’t think I’m gone, and you can play with your phone. Go to sleep immediately I leave” Ella warned me sternly.
“Yes, ma’am” I replied.
I sounded as if I’d obediently go to bed as she has commanded, but we both know that’s far from what’s playing on my mind right now.
We’re currently done with dinner, and we’re in my room with Ella trying to tuck me into bed.
“Good night, darling” she kissed my forehead.
“Good night”
“Dream about me” she said and winked at me.
“Ew, no, I definitely won’t”
She laughed at my response, but didn’t say anything in return and headed out…she switched off the lights on her way out.
My laptop started beeping the moment she stepped out, I grumbled coherently because I had a hint who was calling… It must be my boss.
I frowned. Does he have some mystical powers? How come he is calling the minute I’m alone?
And surely, after grumbling and questioning myself to my satisfaction, I scooted closer to my laptop that’s sitting on my bed, and his name was glaring right back at me.
Why is he faced timing me now? I questioned myself with a deeper frown. Anyway, I wiped off the frown and wore a happy face, before touching the answer button.
“Hello, Mr. Belmont” I greeted him immediately his face popped up, and gave him the sweetest smile ever… Although, it was forced, but he’s not going to find out.
“Hm” he hummed simply.
His face was neutral, free from all expression, and I couldn’t tell if he’s in a good or bad mood at the moment.
“How is your ankle?” he asked.
“It’s fine, sir. I can walk perfectly fine, I can even run and…”
“Come on, prove it” he ordered, cutting me off and leaving no room for my stubborn a*s to say no.
I felt a strong urge to roll my eyes at him, but fought against it.
I sighed and made to jump off the bed to prove myself, but stopped midway when his deep voice authoritatively growled.
“Don’t you dare”
Then I slowly and carefully climbed off the bed. I walked from my bed towards the door, with my right hand on my waist as if I were some sort of celebrity walking down a red carpet.
His eagle like eyes were seriously fixed on my legs, waiting patiently for the moment when I’d wince or leap, but that didn’t happen.
Honestly, I don’t know if I should be happy or worried about his “concern” for me.
“See? All good” I said as I walked back to my bed.
“Hm” he hummed simply.
Then cleared his throat and stared at something in front of him for a moment, he picked it up and held it in front of the camera as though he’s showing it to me, giving me a clear view.
“This is an invitation to a charity gala that I’ll be attending next tomorrow, and I want you to come with me”
“What?”
My brows furrowed as I stared at the card, it’s a replica of the one Ella had shown me earlier, so this must mean it’s the same gala they’re both attending.
“Why should I come with you?” were the words that surprisingly came out of my mouth.
His brows knitted together immediately I asked this question as I went into a momentary state of shock…like, what the f**k did I just do?
He dropped the invitation card back on the table, leaned back on his chair, folded his arms on his chest and raised his right eyebrow as he stared at me.
Me, on the other hand, was biting my lips nervously as I thought of words to say to redeem myself. But thankfully, he spoke before I could say anything else.
“You’re my personal assistant, and I believe it’s part of your job”
“Yeah, but I…” I quickly cut myself off and mentally smacked my mouth warningly.
“You’re coming with me and that’s final” he said firmly.
I did a mental eye roll. Possessive much.
“I’ll have Mike deliver the card and also pick you up for work tomorrow” and he ended the call before I could say anything else.
What a bossy human being.
I shut down my laptop, carefully tossed it aside and fell back on my bed.
I guess I won’t be worrying about Ella’s safety no more. I’m just going to keep an eye on her since I’m attending the same gala.
