Chapter 65

Book:Save Me Mate Published:2024-5-1

Kayden’s POV
I alighted from my car and Davis did the same, we had met at the airport.
I took a look at the mansion that I guessed was bustling with life before the attack. I felt a surge of anger run through my veins.
“Those cursed beings,” I muttered and walked forward with Davis walking after me.
We both arrived at the back door in a matter of minutes and I tried to scent out whatever but there was no scent whatsoever. I was supposed to at least catch a scent but I could catch none, it was evident that the wolf hunters had done a quite great job to the extent of learning to clean out scents.
I sniffed harder but there was yet nothing.
There was no need for me to ask David if he could catch any scent, I had the best instincts in the whole pack, any scent I could not catch had been wiped off perfectly.
“There’s no scent,” I stated and Davis jotted that down immediately.
I stared at the wooden huge door and touched the wooden structure. I ran my fingers over the structure but there was no scratch on the door.
There might have been no scratch during the entrance but what was suspicious and not believable was that this mansion was not a new one, there was no way a door would be this shiny, new, smooth and without any form of scratches on it.
“There are no scratches on a door that is attached to an old house. Check if a purchase of this type of door was made by the pack’s Alpha a few days before the attack.” I said to Davis because clearly, it could only be two ways.
One was that the door was changed by the pack a few days or a few hours before the pack or maybe the wolf Hunters changed the door after the scratches that might have been on the old door.
But then the first one was much more possible because I see no reason why the wolf hunters would change the door, they left a note for me which shows that they were not trying to hide their identity, so why in the world would they want to change the door when they were trying to make me know they were behind it.
I stared at the floor, it was quite clean.
“You sent someone here to clean this place up?” I asked Davis.
“Not at all,” he replied and I sighed.
“Book me the night flight, I do not think we would be doing such things here anymore.”
Samantha’s POV
I took two quick steps back into the dressing room and closed the curtains quickly.
My heart was beating rapidly, as fast as whatever. It was beating faster than it was when in love.
“Hey?” I heard that unmistakable voice, it was my slave master.
“Who is in there?” He called out.
“Did he see me?! Cara, did he see me?!” I almost began crying.
“We… We have to do something fast.” Cara replied.
“Who is in there?” His voice came again and I looked around in panic.
“We…. we can’t go back to slavery Samantha… We can’t go back.” Cara whimpered.
“We won’t.” I tried to assure the both of us.
My eyes fell on the make-up box on the table and I quickly grabbed it. I opened it up and rubbed the mark on my neck with a whole lot of foundation powder, I rubbed my face desperately too, rubbing it with whatever I found to find in the make-up box.
“I am coming in.” the voice came again.
“I am in here,” I said feigning another voice just as they opened up the curtains.
My heart ceased at that moment and I could only hope that my weird make-up was enough to disguise.
“What… What are you doing?” One of them asked with a chuckle.
“I am trying to… To be a clown.” I replied to him with a silly look
“You look like one. Sorry for walking in on you, just searching for someone,” he said.
“Good luck on finding the person then.” I wished them and they all left.
My heart went back to normal. . but my legs were still frozen as I remained at the same spot.
“We… We survived again.” Cara said to me.
“Wait a minute, I am a full wolf now, why should I be afraid of them?” I asked.
“We are not good enough yet. We need to start training and building our strength.” Cara said.
“Completely.” I agreed.
It would be safe when I start to train and I am good enough to fight away the bad guys.
I stepped out of the room, looking around before stepping out fully.
“Let’s pay for the clothes and get out of here,” I said to Cassie.
“What….. What happened? Why are you looking like a clown?” She laughed.
What she was making a joke out of was my lifesaver.
“Let’s just get out of here for now,” I said to her and she nodded, furrowing her brows.
“Okay, let’s leave.” she agreed and we hurriedly paid for the items that we bought.
I did not mind any of those that were actually laughing at what I had applied on my face.
We walked out of the site and I bought a bottle of water and washed my face several times before I could get the makeup off my face.
“How is it now?” I asked Cassie.
“Great but you need to explain to me why you decided to come out looking like a clown.” Cassie requested.
“Later, later.” I waved my hands.
“What happened between you and Alpha Kayden is to be explained later and this later too, are you going to keep hiding things from me?” She asked.
“I would tell you soon I promise,” I said to her.
“Promise?” She asked and I flashed her a smile.
“Promise,” I affirmed.
“The day is still young, how about we visit the club?” Cassie asked.
“It’s almost night.” I pointed out.
“That’s when the club bustles,” she said, trying to urge me to let us go.
I was going to say yes to the offer but the thought of coming across the slave masters again made me cringe and the same to Cara.
“I can’t go,” I grumbled.
“The club has a lot of drinks that would help you get rid of your worries. It’s been a really long time since I went to the club last, c’mon let’s go.” she urged me more and more.
“No, I really can’t go.” I refused her and her face fell.
Cassie usually sought to please and satisfy me so I should really do this little thing for her.
“Okay then. To the club, we go!”
